[{"article_type":"original","keyword":["computational grounded theory","language analysis","machine learning","pedagogical content knowledge","unsupervised learning"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"58885","user_id":"99022","department":[{"_id":"299"}],"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"There have been several attempts to conceptualize and operationalize pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) in the context of teachers' professional competencies. A recent and popular model is the Refined Consensus Model (RCM), which proposes a framework of dispositional competencies (personal PCK—pPCK) that influence more action-related competencies (enacted PCK—ePCK) and vice versa. However, descriptions of the internal structure of pPCK and possible knowledge domains that might develop independently are still limited, being either primarily theoretically motivated or strictly hierarchical and therefore of limited use, for example, for formative feedback and further development of the RCM. Meanwhile, a non-hierarchical differentiation for the ePCK regarding the plan-teach-reflect cycle has emerged. In this study, we present an exploratory computational approach to investigate pre-service teachers' pPCK for a similar non-hierarchical structure using a large dataset of responses to a pPCK questionnaire (N=846). We drew on theoretical foundations and previous empirical findings to achieve interpretability by integrating this external knowledge into our analyses using the Computational Grounded Theory (CGT) framework. The results of a cluster analysis of the pPCK scores indicate the emergence of prototypical groups, which we refer to as competency profiles: (1) a group with low performance, (2) a group with relatively advanced competency in using pPCK to create instructional elements, (3) a group with relatively advanced competency in using pPCK to assess and analyze described instructional elements, and (4) a group with high performance. These groups show tendencies for certain language usage, which we analyze using a structural topic model in a CGT-inspired pattern refinement step. We verify these patterns by demonstrating the ability of a machine learning model to predict the competency profile assignments. Developing and runtime managing these heterogeneous platform devices, however, still poses multiple challenges. The programming paradigms for hardware and software applications fundamentally differ, while the runtime management requires additional attention. The first steps towards unifying design flows have been taken by creating high-level synthesis tools. However, these toolsfocus on the design process and lack runtime management features. FPGA operating systems aim to close this gap by providing runtime management features and build tools. ReconOS, as an example of an FPGA operating system, allows bridging the hardware-software gap by integrating hardware-located computation units as threads into a host operating system, allowing for familiar inter-thread programming paradigms to be extended to FPGAs. This thesis presents ReconOS64, a successor and fork of ReconOS, aiming at modern 64-bit platform systems-on-chip. Besides establishing support for this platform and incorporating new system generation processes, ReconOS64 provides additional features for both development and runtime management. By providing a flexible grouping mechanism for hardware-located threads, partial reconfiguration for exchanging individual threads at runtime is simplified. Further runtime flexibility was achieved by implementing a multi-clock architecture, allowing individual groups of threads to be executed at different frequencies, which can be adapted during runtime with a low reconfiguration overhead. Die Programmiertechniken für Hardware- und Software-Anwendungen unterscheiden sich bereits grundlegend; zudem benötigt die Steuerung zusätzliche Aufmerksamkeit. Die Verwendung von Hochsprachen-Synthesewerkzeugen (High-Level Synthesis) für das Hardwaredesign stellen einen ersten Schritt hin zu einem einheitlichen Entwurfsprozess dar. Allerdings beschränkt sich deren Einsatz auf den Designprozess, während das Management zur Laufzeit keine Berücksichtigung findet.FPGA-Betriebssysteme versuchen diese Lücke durch die Bereitstellung von Management- und Entwurfswerkzeugen zu schließen. Ein Beispiel für ein solches System ist ReconOS, welches die Hardware-Software-Interaktion durch Anbindung von hardwareseitigen Recheneinheiten als Threads in einem Host-Betriebssystem ermöglicht. Dadurch werden die aus der Softwareentwicklung bekannten Methoden zur Kommunikation zwischen mehreren Threads auf FPGA-Systeme ausgeweitet.Diese Arbeit stellt ReconOS64 vor, welches als Ableger von ReconOS auf aktuellen 64-bit Systemen verwendet werden kann. Neben der Unterstützung aktueller Plattformen sowie der Einrichtung eines neuen Designprozesses werden durch ReconOS64 zusätzliche Möglichkeiten sowohl zur Entwicklung wie auch zum Laufzeitmanagement geschaffen. Durch flexible Gruppierungen von Hardware-basierten Threads wird die Verwendung partieller Rekonfiguration zum Austausch einzelner Threads zur Laufzeit vereinfacht. PCM are materials whose phase change characteristics during melting and solidification are utilized for heating and cooling purposes. The theoretical foundations of heat transfer problems involving phase change, along with the relevant numerical solution methods, are discussed. A phase change model is presented, which was validated against analytical solutions and applied in the case studies. For both case studies, a review of the state of the art is provided, followed by the formulation of specific research problems. The first case study investigated PCM-enhanced photovoltaic modules, while the second focused on packed bed latent heat storages (PBLHS) utilizing non-spherical PCM capsules. Thermal models were developed for both systems and validated with good accuracy against experimental data. These models were employed in parameter studies to identify optimized system configurations. The presented results demonstrate that a PCM heat sink with sufficient thickness and thermal conductivity can significantly improve the efficiency and lifespan of photovoltaic modules. The thesis is divided into two main parts. In the first part of this thesis, we show how to construct an overlay network of degree O(log n) and diameter O(log n) in O(log n) time starting from an arbitrary weakly connected graph. We assume a synchronous communication network in which nodes can send messages to nodes they know the identifier of, and new connections can be established by sending node identifiers. If the initial network’s graph is weakly connected and has constant degree, then our algorithm constructs the desired topology with each node sending and receiving only O(log n) messages in each round in time O(log n), w.h.p. Since the problem cannot be solved faster than by using pointer jumping for O(log n) rounds (which would even require each node to communicate Ω(n) bits), our algorithm is asymptotically optimal. Additionally, we show how our algorithm can be used to efficiently solvegraph problems in the novel HYBRID model. Motivated by the idea that nodes possess two different modes of communication, we assume that communication of the initial edges is unrestricted, whereas only polylogarithmically many messages can be sent over edges that have been established throughout an algorithm’s execution. For an (undirected) graph G with arbitrary degree, we show how tocompute connected components and a spanning forest in O(log n) time, w.h.p. Furthermore, we show how to compute an MIS in timeO(log ∆ + log log n), w.h.p., where ∆ is the initial degree of G. In the second part of the thesis, we consider the problems of computing compact routing tables and low-diameter decompositions for a (weighted) graph G := (V, E, ℓ) that can be separated through k shortest paths. This class of graphs includes planar graphs, graphs of bounded treewidth, and graphs that exclude a fixed minor Kr. We present algorithms in the CONGEST and the novel HYBRID communication model that are competitive in all relevant parameters:• For a given parameter ϵ &gt; 0, we compute a routing scheme with stretch 1 + ϵ. The decomposition can be computed in Oe(k) time in the HYBRID model and O˜(kHD) time in CONGEST.Broadly speaking, we present distributed and parallel implementations of sequential divide-and-conquer algorithms where we replaceexact shortest paths with approximate shortest paths. In contrast to exact paths, these can be efficiently computed in the distributed and parallel setting. Further, and perhaps more importantly, we show that instead of explicitly computing vertex-separators to enable efficientparallelization of these algorithms, it suffices to sample a few random paths of bounded length and the nodes close to them. Finally, we present a SetCover algorithm in the Beeping model. Our algorithm runs in O(k3) time and has an expected approximation ratio ofO(∆3/k log2 ∆). Despite lithium niobate's wide applicability as a nonlinear optical material, the impact of mechanical stress on its nonlinear optical properties is not well characterized. In this work, we systematically study both experimentally and theoretically, the nonlinear optical responses of thin film lithium niobate (TFLN) single crystals. Compressive and tensile stress is applied in our experiment using a piezodriven strain cell. We then record the second-harmonic-generated (SHG) response in back-reflection geometry, and compare these results to theoretical modeling using density functional theory (DFT). Both methods consistently reveal that uniaxial stress induces changes of the nonlinear optical susceptibility of certain tensor elements on the order of up to 1 pm/(V GPa). The exact value depends on the tensor element that is addressed in our SHG analysis, on the crystal orientation, and also whether using compressive or tensile stresses. Similarly, several contributors describe the deep roots of Qur’anic prophetology in the Christian and Jewish traditions of Late Antiquity and the Arabic context. Diese Arbeit analysiert am Beispiel der Feuerwehr die Gründe für diese Diskrepanz und entwickelt ein Konzept, das das Wissensmanagement im Feuerwehrwesen nachhaltig verankern soll. Eine deutschlandweite Umfrage mit 577 Einsatzkräften ergab, dass eine digitale Verwaltungsunterstützung bereits verbreitet ist, das Wissen jedoch vornehmlich per E-Mail, Chat, mündlich oder per Aushang verteilt wird. Die Teilnehmenden wünschen sich eine Lösung für das Wissensmanagement, die im Einsatz, bei Aus- und Weiterbildung sowie der Verwaltungsarbeit unterstützt. Auf der Umfrage und einer systematischen Literaturrecherche aufbauend, wurde der Handlungsbedarf identifiziert. Darauf basieren die Ableitung der Anwendungsbereiche sowie Rahmenbedingungen, welche sich in den Anforderungen an ein Wissensmanagementsystem widerspiegeln. Abgeschlossen wird die Arbeit mit der Demonstration und Evaluation der Lösung."},{"text":"In the corporate context, knowledge management is an established field of research and practice that aims to improve efficiency and competitiveness. In civil emergency response organizations, on the other hand, there are considerable deficits in the acquisition and transfer of knowledge, although there is great dependence on empirical knowledge, too. This paper uses the example of the fire department to analyze the reasons for this discrepancy and develops a concept to anchor knowledge management in the fire department in the long term. A Germany-wide survey of 577 firefighters revealed that digital administrative support is already widespread, but that knowledge is primarily distributed by email, chat, verbally or via paper. The participants seek for a knowledge management solution that provides support during incients, training, as well as administrative work.Based on the survey and a systematic literature review, the need for action was identified. The areas of application and framework conditions, which are reflected in the requirements for a knowledge management system, are based on this. The implementation concept describes the system architecture of the solution, which is based on an open-source wiki with suitable extensions. The central element is the ability to share knowledge across organizational boundaries. We show that they are special subsets of the association scheme obtained from the Gelfand pair $(S_{2n},S_2 \\wr S_n)$. This unifies and extends results by Cameron (1976) and gives rise to new existence and non-existence results. Their query rewriting algorithms focus on languages like conjunctive queries and their unions, which were developed for relational data and are poorly suited for graph data. Moreover, they also limit the expressiveness of the ontology languages that admit rewritings, restricting them to those that enjoy the so-called FO-rewritability property. Rewritings have thus focused on the DL-Lite family of Description Logics. In this paper, we propose a technique for rewriting a family of navigational queries for a suitably tailored fragment of ELHI. Leveraging navigational features in the target query language, we can include some widely-used axiom shapes not supported by DL-Lite. Diese Inhalte können einerseits als Motivation für körperliche Aktivität dienen, andererseits aber auch negative Auswirkungen auf das Körperbild haben. Deswegen spielen Sportlehrkräfte in diesem Zusammenhang eine entscheidende Rolle bei der Vermittlung von Medienkompetenz. Um ihre Perspektiven zu dieser Herausforderung besser zu verstehen, wurden leitfadengestützte Interviews mit N=17 Sportlehrkräften unterschiedlicher Schulformen durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die meisten Lehrkräfte nicht genau wissen, wie ihre Schüler:innen Fitnessinhalte in sozialen Medien nutzen, obgleich sie eine gewisse Relevanz darin für Jugendliche sehen. Die Sportlehrkräfte unterscheiden sich in der Ansicht darüber, ob und wie diese Thematik im Sportunterricht behandelt werden sollte. Nur wenige Lehrkräfte integrieren sie bereits in ihren Unterricht, während andere dies für nicht sinnvoll oder schwer umsetzbar halten.
