However, as children enter school with widely varying levels of achievement in mathematics, not all children seem to benefit equally from embedded math learning opportunities. To help children take advantage of these opportunities, early childhood (EC) teachers seem to play a significant role in fostering children’s mathematical learning. Previous research suggests that both the teacher’s knowledge and their feedback significantly influence the extent to which children learn. However, most studies on feedback rely on experimental research designs and do not examine naturally occurring feedback in situations involving embedded math learning opportunities. Thus, the influence of EC teachers’ mathematical pedagogical content knowledge (MPCK) and their naturally given feedback on children’s mathematical learning remains underexplored. This paper investigates the effects of naturally given feedback and the MPCK of N = 48 EC teachers on the mathematical development of N = 140 children. Results indicate that process-related feedback positively impacts children’s mathematical development, while other kinds of feedback (e.g., person-related) and teachers’ MPCK do not demonstrate significant effects. As thermal joining processes are reaching their limits, mechanical techniques such as self-piercing riveting are being used. One innovative solution is the versatile self-piercing riveting process (V-SPR), which combines different material combinations with a multi-range rivet. 1 The joining process is divided into the piercing process and the forming process of the rivet head to the respective sheet thickness. The rivet shaft requires sufficient strength to punch through the punch-sided sheet, and sufficient ductility of the rivet head is required to form onto the punch-sided sheet. To achieve a combination of these requirements, local inductive heat treatment strategies are used for the rivet. To ensure reproducible rivet hardening, a specialised device has been developed for precise rivet positioning in the induction coil and the subsequent quenching process. The heat treatment differs in terms of hardening times and temperatures. In addition, the heat treatment is combined with a subsequent tempering process. The study aims to determine the resulting hardness distributions and microstructures of the rivet and to investigate the influence of different heat treatment strategies on joint formation and load-bearing capacities. The results show that a graded hardening profile has a positive effect on the spreading behaviour of the rivet foot and the forming behaviour of the rivet head. Furthermore, the load-bearing behaviour of the joints is increased. Hiermit ist es unter anderem möglich, dass die Geräte in die Energieeffizienzklassen A bis C klassifiziert werden können. Ein VIP besteht vereinfacht aus einer Schutzfolie, die nahezu gasdicht ist und einem Füllmaterial, welches für die Formstabilität im Vakuum zuständig ist. Aufgrund von technischen Alterungsprozessen kommt es mit der Zeit zu einem Anstieg des Innendrucks im VIP, wodurch die Wärmeleitfähigkeit des VIP steigt. Je nach Füllmaterial erfolgt dieser Alterungsprozess unterschiedlich schnell. Im Extremfall kann so ein neues Haushalts-kältegerät der Energieeffizienzklasse A nach 1 bis 3 Jahren nur noch als Klasse D bis F eingestuft werden.\r\nInnerhalb eines Forschungsprojekts wurden Haushaltskältegeräte mit VIP thermografisch untersucht. Im Rahmen dieser Studienarbeit wurde ein Versuchsaufbau entwickelt, mit dem die zeitliche Veränderung von Wärmebrücken begutachtet werden kann und so Rückschlüsse auf den Effizienzverlust der Geräte möglich sind. Der Funkionsnachweises dieses Versuchsaufbaus wurden an einem Haushaltskältegerät mit künstlich gealterten Vakuumisolationspaneelen durchgeführt. In der fachdidaktischen Forschung liegt daher bereits seit längerem ein Fokus auf der Analyse des FDW, wobei mittlerweile vor allem Auswirkungen auf die Handlungsqualität und auf Lernergebnisse in den Blick genommen werden. Nach wie vor stellt aber auch die empirisch fundierte inhaltliche Beschreibung des FDW sowie der Transfer entwickelter FDW-Testverfahren auf Basis von Testinstrumenten mit offenem Antwortformat in die Ausbildungspraxis ein Forschungsdesiderat dar. In diesem Dissertationsprojekt werden daher auf Basis eines Datensatzes von 846 Bearbeitungen eines FDW-Testinstruments im Fach Physik (1) projektübergreifende FDW-Kompetenzniveaus auf Basis von Item-Response-Modellierungen exploriert, (2) nicht-hierarchische FDW-Kompetenzprofile auf Basis von (probabilistischen) Cluster- und Textanalysen beschrieben und (3) ein vollständig automatisiertes FDW-Assessment-System auf Basis von Machine Learning entwickelt. Dabei wurden insbesondere kognitive Anforderungskategorien als Subskalen des verwendeten Testinstruments betrachtet. Its relevance is theoretically established and empirically shown multiple times. PCK has therefore been analyzed continuously in education research, currently with a particular emphasis on its impact on the quality of teaching and directly on learning outcomes. However, there is still a lack of detailed empirically backed descriptions of the intricacies of PCK and of methodologies for translating developed PCK assessment procedures based on open-ended questionnaires into educational practice. In this dissertation project, therefore, three objectives are pursued, based on a dataset of 846 responses to a physics PCK test instrument. First, cross-project PCK competency levels are explored based on item response modeling. Second, non-hierarchical PCK competency profiles are described based on (probabilistic) cluster and text analyses. Third, a fully automated FDW assessment system based on Machine Learning is developed. In particular, cognitive requirement categories were considered as subscales of the test instrument used. We conceptualized data-based decision tree construction using nine key aspects that we intended to teach, tested variations of two design elements in teaching, and analyzed the interviews qualitatively to compare student behavior to intended outcomes. We found high alignment to intentions but also deviations in data activities and informal or context-based rather than data-based reasoning. The first section shows that it makes no difference whether historians think of early modern history in terms of impersonal structures or of personal experience–they agree in regarding religion as a crucial cause of violence. \r\nAgainst this widespread conviction the paper unfolds two arguments. The first is that the Latin word “religio”, as it was used throughout the 16th and 17th century, did not mean ‘religion’ in our modern comprehensive understanding of the word. Instead its meaning was quite narrow and specific, referring either to the medieval sense of ‘committing oneself to God by joining a religious order’ (becoming a “religiosus” resp. a “religiosa”) or to the ancient sense of ‘scrupulously venerating God’. It did not mean ‘faith’, ‘doctrine’, ‘worship’, ‘church law’ or ‘denomination’, and definitely not all these things in conjunction. Only when the vernacular languages began to borrow the Latin word from the 16th century onwards was its narrow meaning broadened. As a consequence of reformation and counterreformation, the idea arose that one should make faith and doctrine and worship and church law match, although the attempt to implement this new rapport provoked much opposition and turned out to be a very violent process. From this point of view what is generally called “early modern religious violence” is violence caused not by religion, but by the ambition to establish a new idea of religion. \r\nThe second argument is that our modern understanding of religion is coined by the 18th-century critique of religion. Only the Enlightenment’s claim to overcome religion (in the new sense of the word) declared it to be “irrational” or even “fanatic”. Thus the Enlightenment invented religious fanatism, using it as a retrospective explanation of the violence that had gripped the last centuries. Lattice quality and assembly kinetics are controlled by various environmental parameters, including the employed surface, the assembly temperature, and the ionic composition of the buffer, with optimized parameter combinations resulting in highly ordered lattices that can span surface areas of several cm2. Established assembly protocols, however, employ assembly times ranging from hours to days. Here, the assembly of highly ordered hexagonal DNA origami lattices at mica surfaces is observed within few minutes using high-speed atomic force microscopy (HS-AFM). A moderate increase in the DNA origami concentration enables this rapid assembly. While forming a regular lattice takes 10 min at a DNA origami concentration of 4 nM, this time is shortened to about 2 min at a concentration of 6 nM. Increasing the DNA origami concentration any further does not result in shorter assembly times, presumably because DNA origami arrival at the mica surface is diffusion-limited. Over short length scales up to 1 µm, lattice order is independent of the DNA origami concentration. However, at larger length scales of a few microns, a DNA origami concentration of 10 nM yields slightly better order than lower and higher concentrations. Therefore, 10 nM can be considered the optimum concentration for the rapid assembly of highly ordered DNA origami lattices. Clinching is a conventional mechanical joining process used in Multi-Material Design in the automotive sector. To receive the desired geometrical characteristics in clinch joints, correct process design is required. To reduce the cost of finding fitting process parameters, numerical simulation of the joining process can be used to predict the geometrical characteristics, such as interlock, instead of an experimental approach. These numerical simulation models consume computational resources and time. In this paper machine learning is used to find correlations between features of the joining process and geometrical characteristics in the joint. This serves the purpose of predicting the joint’s target values more resource-efficiently. Modelling with machine learning requires a structured dataset with sufficient parameter variation. To create this data base the following procedure was used. For joining partners, a HC340LA steel alloy with 2 mm material thickness was used punch-sided and an EN AW 5182 aluminum alloy with 1.5 mm thickness was used die-sided. For this combination a suitable tool combination and punch distance was experimentally identified. A finite element model was created to reproduce the joining process. For the modelling of the material of both joining partners flow curves determined by Vallaster et al. were used [1]. The punch and die were recreated digitally by opto-electronic measurements and transformed into a mesh suitable for numerical simulation. The model was validated by comparing process values like the maximum force applied by the punch and geometrical values in the joints cross section. Additionally, a process window for suitable punch distances was experimentally determined. Afterwards a variation of 70 different process designs was conducted with variants inside and outside the process window. The results were used for training, testing and validating various machine learning models. All models competed against each other to find the must suited model to predict every geometric value. To ensure good model performances and prevent the model from overfitting, a tenfold cross validation was used for validating the models. A strong confinement effect was observed for cis-cyclooctene (cCOE), 1,5-cyclooctadiene (COD), (+)-2,3-endo,exo-dicarbomethoxynorborn-5-ene ((+)-DCMNBE), and 2-methyl-2-phenylcycloprop-1-ene (MPCP), allowing for the synthesis of low-molecular-weight cyclic polymers even at a high monomer concentration. Such systems are essential for businesses seeking trustworthy partners, as they help reduce information asymmetry, lower buyers' transaction risks, and allow high-quality service providers to justify premium pricing. Unlike traditional review-based systems in the business-to-consumer (B2C) context, we propose a B2B reputation mechanism in which buyers commit to a rating payment before a transaction. Once the buyer finalizes the rating, this payment is executed and recorded on a blockchain as an immutable, secure ledger. Our system mimics natural trust-building mechanisms with ratings that are (1) monetary-based, (2) stake-based, (3) non-aggregated, (4) involve counter-ratings, (5) selectively sellable, (6) individually comparable, (7) stored on a blockchain, (8) and monitored by a third instance. This system provides a novel approach to fostering trust in B2B transactions by reducing information asymmetry and transaction risk. We illustrate the mechanism’s application in the consulting sector. Our analysis has identified 23 institutional trust and distrust dimensions that promote establishing institutional trust through the proposed mechanism. Qualitative interviews suggest that, while complex and challenging to apply, this mechanism can foster trust in B2B transactions. This paper explores the artistic collaborations of Hans Werner Henze and Ingeborg Bachmann on the one hand and Henze, Chester Kallman and W.H. Auden on the other in the context of their joint operatic work, surviving correspondence and poetological essays. This is set against the backdrop of how personal relationships can influence collaboration in the performing arts.
