  text: "
\r\n We develop a framework for identifying nonclassical
speedups in systems with polarization, likewise spin degrees of freedom. By confining
the dynamics to the manifold of angular momentum coherent states, which act as
the classical reference in this case, we compute the speed limit that bounds the
rate of change of the state achievable without generating quantum coherence. A
comparison with the unrestricted quantum speed limit enables the quantitative
identification of speedups arising from polarization nonclassicality. We apply
this framework to the cross-Kerr interaction, demonstrating a persistent speedup

  text:
Indefinite causal order (ICO) has the potential to be a new resource
for quantum information processing. In most of its experiments, ICO has been investigated
in a photonic platform. Here, we investigate ICO in a cavity quantum electrodynamics
system composed of two cavities. Our results show that ICO can create highly entangled
states of two distant cavity fields that never interact directly independent of
the initial (excited or ground) state of the atom. These entangled states can
have the form of one- or two-photon NOON states. We show that ICO can interchange
one photon between both cavities without changing the state of the atom, something
that is impossible to achieve for two cavities in well-defined order. Furthermore,
the vacuum Rabi oscillations either disappear or lose their sinusoidal form with
ICO. Our results show the potential that ICO can offer in the paradigm of light-matter
interaction for coherently controlling atom-field observables.

text: Multimode quantum light has promising applications in many areas of physics,
such as quantum communications and quantum computing. However, its multimode nature
also makes it challenging to measure its properties. Recently [I. Barakat et al.,
Optica Quantum 3, 36 (2025)], a technique for the simultaneous measurement of
squeezing of multiple broadband modes based on a phase-sensitive amplification
approach was experimentally implemented using a setup that effectively corresponds
to an SU(1,1) interferometer. Here, we aim to provide a complete theoretical analysis
of the modal structure of (generally unbalanced) SU(1,1) interferometers and a
detailed theoretical formal derivation of the framework for this technique. Utilizing
the joint Schmidt decomposition of the transfer functions, we investigate the
shape and phase profiles of the modes of the SU(1,1) interferometer and its components
[parametric down-conversion (PDC) sections] for different parametric gain regimes.
We discover a complicated interplay between the PDC modes and the modes of the
entire interferometer, and analyze it by using their overlap coefficients as a
similarity measure. Finally, we develop a rigorous processing method for the aforementioned
multimode squeezing measurement technique and discuss necessary approximations
to make this method experimentally feasible.

  text:
We investigate the dynamics of wave packets in a parabolic optical
lattice formed by combining an optical lattice with a global parabolic trap. Our
study examines the phase space representation of the system's eigenstates by comparing
them to the classical phase space of a pendulum, to which the system effectively
maps. The analysis reveals that quantum states can exhibit mixed dynamics by straddling
the separatrix. A key finding is that the dynamics around the separatrix enables
the controlled creation of highly nonclassical states, distinguishing them from
the classical oscillatory or rotational dynamics of the pendulum. By considering
a finite momentum of the initial wave packet, we demonstrate various dynamical
regimes. Furthermore, a slight energy mismatch between nearly degenerate states
localized at opposite turning points of the trap potential results in controlled
long-range dynamical tunneling. These results can be interpreted as quantum beating
between a clockwise rotating and a counterclockwise rotating pendulum.

  text:
Frequency-filtered photon correlations have been proven to be extremely
useful in grasping how the detection process alters photon statistics. Harnessing
the spectral correlations also permits refinement of the emission and unraveling
of previously hidden strong correlations in a plethora of quantum-optical systems
under continuous-wave excitation. In this work, we investigate such correlations
for time-dependent excitation and develop a methodology to compute efficiently
time-integrated correlations, which are at the heart of the photon-counting theory,
and subsequently apply it to analyze the photon emission of pulsed systems. By
combining this formalism with the —which facilitates frequency-resolved correlations—we
demonstrate how spectral filtering enhances single-photon purity and suppresses
multiphoton noise in time-bin-encoded quantum states. Specifically, filtering
the central spectral peak of a dynamically driven two-level system boosts temporal
coherence and improves the fidelity of time-bin entanglement preparation, even
under conditions favoring multiphoton emission. These results establish spectral
filtering as a critical tool for tailoring photon statistics in pulsed quantum
    light sources.

  text:
In this paper, we theoretically study the spectral and temporal properties
of pulsed spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) generated in lossy waveguides.
Our theoretical approach is based on the formalism of Gaussian states and the
Langevin equation, which is elaborated for weak parametric down-conversion and
photon-number-unresolved click detection. Using the example of frequency-degenerate
type-II SPDC generated under the pump-idler group-velocity-matching condition,
we show how the joint-spectral intensity, mode structure, normalized second-order
correlation function, and Hong-Ou-Mandel interference pattern depend on internal
losses of the SPDC process. We found that the joint-spectral intensity is almost
insensitive to internal losses, while the second-order correlation function shows
a strong dependence on them, being different for the signal and idler beams in
the presence of internal losses. Based on the sensitivity of the normalized second-order
correlation function, we show how its measurement can be used to experimentally
    determine internal losses.

  text:
We introduce a new classification of multimode states with a fixed
number of photons. This classification is based on the factorizability of homogeneous
multivariate polynomials and is invariant under unitary transformations. The classes
physically correspond to field excitations in terms of single and multiple photons,
each of which is in an arbitrary irreducible superposition of quantized modes.
We further show how the transitions between classes are rendered possible by photon
addition, photon subtraction, and photon-projection nonlinearities. We explicitly
put forward a design for a multilayer interferometer in which the states for different
classes can be generated with state-of-the-art experimental techniques. Limitations
of the proposed designs are analyzed using the introduced classification, providing
a benchmark for the robustness of certain states and classes.

  text:
Bell measurements, entailing the projection onto one of the Bell states,
play a key role in quantum information and communication, where the outcome of
a variety of protocols crucially depends on the success probability of such measurements.
Although in the case of qubit systems, Bell measurements can be implemented using
only linear optical components, the same result is no longer true for qudits,
where at least the use of ancillary photons is required. In order to circumvent
this limitation, one possibility is to introduce nonlinear effects. In this work,
we adopt the latter approach and propose a scalable Bell measurement scheme for
high-dimensional states, exploiting multiple squeezer devices applied to a linear
optical circuit for discriminating the different Bell states. Our approach does
not require ancillary photons, is not limited by the dimension of the quantum
states, and is experimentally scalable, thus paving the way toward the realization
of an effective high-dimensional Bell measurement.

These results establish spectral
filtering as a critical tool for tailoring photon statistics in pulsed quantum
    light sources.

  text:
Boson sampling is a key candidate for demonstrating quantum advantage
and has already yielded significant advances in quantum simulation, machine learning,
and graph theory. In this work, a unification and extension of distinct forms
of boson sampling is developed. The devised protocol merges discrete-variable
scattershot boson sampling with continuous-variable Gaussian boson sampling. Therefore,
it is rendered possible to harness the complexity of more interesting states,
such as squeezed photons, in advanced sampling protocols. A generating function
formalism is developed for the joint description of multiphoton and multimode
light undergoing Gaussian transformations. The resulting analytical tools enable
one to explore interfaces of different photonic quantum-information-processing
platforms. A numerical simulation of unified sampling is carried out, benchmarking
its performance, complexity, and scalability. Entanglement is characterized to
exemplify the generation of quantum correlations from the nonlinear interactions
    of a unified sampler.

  text: "
We report on a photonic simulator of the critical state forming at
the quantum phase transition between topologically distinct Anderson insulator
phases. We observe a time-staggered profile in the circular photon polarization,
which originates from the interplay of a chiral and sublattice symmetry, and has
recently been suggested as a signature for topological Anderson criticality within
the setup. We discuss the role of statistical detuning from criticality and show

  text: "
In the SUPER scheme (Swing-UP of the quantum EmitteR population),
excitation of a quantum emitter is achieved with two off-resonant, red-detuned
laser pulses. This allows the generation of high-quality single photons without
the need of complex laser stray light suppression or careful spectral filtering.
In the present work, we extend this promising method to quantum emitters, specifically
semiconductor quantum dots, inside a resonant optical cavity. A significant advantage
of the SUPER scheme is identified in that it eliminates re-excitation of the quantum
emitter by suppressing photon emission during the excitation cycle. This, in turn,
leads to almost ideal single-photon purity, overcoming a major factor typically
limiting the quality of photons generated with quantum emitters in high-quality
cavities. We further find that for cavity-mediated biexciton emission of degenerate
photon pairs, the SUPER scheme leads to near-perfect biexciton initialization
with very high values of polarization entanglement of emitted photon pairs.
\r\n

  text: "
Exceptional points (EPs), with their intriguing spectral topology,
have attracted considerable attention in a broad range of physical systems, with
potential sensing applications driving much of the present research in this field.
Here, we investigate spectral topology and EPs in systems with significant nonlinearity,
exemplified by a nonequilibrium exciton-polariton condensate. With the possibility
to control loss and gain and nonlinearity by optical means, this system allows
for a comprehensive analysis of the interplay of nonlinearities (Kerr type and
saturable gain) and non-Hermiticity. Not only do we find that EPs can be intentionally
shifted in parameter space by the saturable gain, but we also observe intriguing
rotations and intersections of Riemann surfaces and find nonlinearity-enhanced
sensing capabilities. With this, our results illustrate the potential of tailoring
spectral topology and related phenomena in non-Hermitian systems by nonlinearity.
\r\n

  text: "
The ability to apply user-chosen large-scale unitary operations with
high fidelity to a quantum state is key to realizing future photonic quantum technologies.
Here, we realize the implementation of programmable unitary operations on up to
64 frequency-bin modes. To benchmark the performance of our system, we probe different
quantum walk unitary operations, in particular, Grover walks on four-dimensional
hypercubes with similarities exceeding 95% and quantum walks with 400 steps on
circles and finite lines with similarities of 98%. Our results open a path toward
implementing high-quality unitary operations, which can form the basis for applications

text: 'Ferroelectrics such as LiNbO3 (LN) are wide-band-gap insulators that may
show a high local electric conductivity at the domain walls (DWs). The latter
are interfaces separating regions of noncollinear polarization, which can be manipulated
to build integrated nanoelectronic elements. In the present work, we model different
DW types in LN from first principles. Our models reveal the DW morphology and
shed light on their electronic properties: A strong band bending is predicted
for charged DWs, leading to local metallicity. Defect trapping at the DW may further
    enhance the electric conductivity.'
