abstract = {{Visualising is a method used to help experiencing and understanding causal cohesions in simulation processes. For this purpose, tools for visualising are already implemented in prevalent simulation systems. The user creates his simulation model and generates a 3-dimensional (2,5-dimensional) visualising by means of the simulation system. This helps examining the process which makes it easier for the viewer to “understand” it. Simulation tools usually only provide the opportunity for a unidirectional visualising. In a 3-dimensional surrounding the viewer can not implement an interaction with the simulation while the system is running. Though an interaction during the simulation run enables the user to gain a better understanding of causal cohesions. Solutions via HLA are sophisticated and therefore rather suited for extensive projects.
We present a distributed system consisting of a commercial manufacturing simulation tool, a coupling module and a walkthrough system. The distributed system in conjunctions with the coupling module guarantees generality and a wide field of applications of the walkthrough system. Further it guarantees flexibility and selection of the specialized graphics hardware for the walkthrough system. A further contribution of this paper is the solution of the time synchronisation problem caused by simulation tool and walkthrough system.

In order to perform a seamless integration into the upcoming UML2.0 standard, we take the latest OCL2.0 metamodel proposal by Warmer et al. [22] as a basis. A formal semantics of our temporal OCL extension is given by a mapping to time-annotated temporal logics formulae. To give an example of the applicability of our extension, we consider a modeling approach for manufacturing systems called MFERT. We present a corresponding UML profile for that approach and combine both profiles for formal verification by real-time model checking.}},

This analysis is the first step to derive and evaluate design parameters for dynamically reconfigurable processors. We discuss the selection of representative benchmarks for handhelds and wearables and group the applications into multimedia, communications, and cryptography programs. We simulate the applications on a cycle-accurate processor simulator and gather statistical data such as instruction mix, cache hit rates and memory requirements for an embedded processor model. A breakdown of the executed cycles into different functions identifies the most compute-intensive code sections - the kernels. Then, we analyze the applications and discuss parameters that strongly influence the design of dynamically reconfigurable processors. Finally, we outline the construction of a parameterizable simulation model for a reconfigurable unit that is attached to a processor core.}},
