Peanut-shaped modulation profiles give rise to vertically symmetric and antisymmetric vortex states, and novel stationary hybrid states, built of top and bottom vortices with opposite topological charges, as well as robust dynamical hybrids, which feature stable precession of a vortex on top of a zero-vorticity soliton. The analysis reveals stability regions for symmetric, antisymmetric, and hybrid states. In addition, bead-shaped modulation profiles give rise to the first example of exact analytical solutions for stable 3D vortex solitons. Emissions of nonlinear 3D waves out of the main wave packets with the topological charges were demonstrated. Because of the conservation of the total angular momentum, charges of the emitted waves are equal to those carried by the parental light structure. The rapid collapse imposes a severe limitation on the propagation of multidimensional waves in Kerr media. However, the structure of the Airy beam carrier allows the coupling of light from the leading, most intense peak into neighboring peaks and consequently strongly postpones the collapse. The dependence of the critical input amplitude for the appearance of a fast collapse on the beam width is studied for wave packets with zero and nonzero topological charges. Furthermore, we integrate the converted data into a geodata store and present a user interface for querying this data via a keyword-based search. As a basis, we present a scalar‐valued phase‐transformation model where a Helmholtz free energy function depending on volumetric and deviatoric strain measures is assigned to each phase. The analysis of the related overall Gibbs energy density allows for the calculation of energy barriers. With these quantities at hand, we use a statistical‐physics‐based approach to determine the resulting evolution of volume fractions. Though the model facilitates to take into account an arbitrary number of solid phases of the underlying material, we restrict this work to the simulation of phase‐transformations between an austenitic parent phase and a martensitic tension and compression phase. The scalar model is embedded into a computational micro‐sphere formulation in view of the simulation of three‐dimensional boundary value problems. This process involves determining the layout's combinatorial structure as well as its geometric embedding in the surface. We present a novel quad layout algorithm that focuses on the embedding optimization, thereby complementing recent methods focusing on the structure optimization aspect. It takes as input a description of the target layout structure and computes a complete embedding in form of a parameterization globally optimized for isometry and, in particular, principal direction alignment. Typical examples are crankshafts, camshafts, differential gear or hydraulic pumps. In the operating state the elastomeric seal ring and the shaft are separated by a lubrication film of just a few micrometers. Due to shear strain and fluid friction the contact area is subject to a higher temperature than the rest of the seal ring. The stiffness of the elastomeric material is intensely influenced by this temperature and thus contact pressure, friction and wear also strongly depend on the contact temperature. In order to simulate the contact behavior of elastomer seal rings it is essential to use a comprehensive approach which takes into consideration the interaction of temperature, friction and wear. Based on this idea a macroscopic simulation model has been developed at the MEGT. It combines a finite element approach for the simulation of contact pressure at different wear states, a semi-analytical approach for the calculation of contact temperature and an empirical approach for the calculation of friction. Das Förderprojekt „Simulationsgestützter Entwurf für Elektrofahrzeuge“, kurz „E-Mobil“, nimmt sich der Herausforderungen einer verteilten Entwicklung von Steuergeräte-Software an. Vier Projektpartner aus Industrie und Forschung untersuchen die Besonderheiten sowohl bzgl. des Entwurfsprozesses, als auch der beteiligten Entwurfswerkzeuge im Vergleich zur konventionellen Fahrzeugentwicklung. Im Fokus stehen die Modellierung und die simulationsgestützte Absicherung in frühen Entwurfsstadien. During these missions it is essential to obtain an overview of the overall situation to arrange efficient rescue tasks as soon as possible. Afterwards, this information has to be continuously updated during the complete mission in order to quickly respond to changing conditions. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is a viable choice to obtain such an overview in a fast and efficient way. Using multiple UAVs, the problem of coordination has to be solved to decrease the time needed to explore an area. We present an approach for the coordination of UAVs by setting up formation patterns using bifurcation theory. This distribution is tailored with respect to the later intended application of the component. The improved material utilization enables light weight design and reduced resource consumption, thus offering an alternative for modern composite materials. To support the production planner in setting up the required manufacturing processes, this contribution proposes a multi-criteria decision-support approach that is based upon a framework for the computer-aided planning and optimisation of functionally graded components.
