Arranged equipment, such as conveyors or machines, includes the need to model and determine motion paths for moving objects like forklifts or automatically guided vehicles, so that the simulation framework is able to navigate all vehicles across those motion paths. After analyzing first scenarios, the user often carries out layout changes in the simulation model, e.g. moving, adding or deleting equipment. However, those changes cause time consuming, additional modeling of the motion paths for the user. Our motion planning algorithm reduces these changes by automatically determining the motion paths for moving objects, depending on an actual model layout without colliding with other objects. The algorithm works on the basis of the virtual scene’s 3D-data used for the simulation model’s visualization. We demonstrate the technique with a multi-floor building example."}],"citation":{"ieee":"M. Fischer, H. Renken, C. Laroque, G. Schaumann, and W. They have a number of drawbacks, including the opti-mized metric and the difficulty of parallelizing the popular repartitioning heuris-tic Kernighan-Lin (KL).Here we further explore the very promising diffusion-based graph partitioningalgorithm DIBAP (Meyerhenke et al., JPDC 69(9):750–761, 2009) by adaptingDIBAP to the related problem of load balancing. Experiments with graph se-quences that imitate adaptive numerical simulations demonstrate the applicabilityand high quality of DIBAP for load balancing by repartitioning. Compared to thefaster state-of-the-art repartitioners PARMETIS and parallel JOSTLE, DIBAP’ssolutions have partitions with significantly fewer external edges and boundarynodes and the resulting average migration volume in the important maximumnorm is also the best in most cases. We also prove that one of DIBAP’s key components optimizes a relaxed versionof the minimum edge cut problem. For this process compounding extruders are used which mostly involve tightly intermeshing, co-rotating twin screw extruders. These extruders consist of two closely spaced screws which rotate in the same direction and convey the raw material to the screw tip. These screws are surrounded by several barrel modules which heat or cool the material. As the whole design of the machine is modularly arranged the process behavior of a twin screw extruder depends for the main part on the arrangement of the screw and the barrel elements. Until today this arrangement and process optimization is conducted by experienced engineers and with the help of trial-and-error methods. Furthermore, theoretical models are used with which the behavior of the extruder is estimated. As these models are mostly very complex they are only made available with the realization in different software projects. One of the tools is called SIGMA. Within this paper SIGMA is introduced as a software to optimize a twin screw extruder. SIGMA supports the engineer already in the early stages of the extruder arrangement."}],"place":"San Diego, CA, USA","date_created":"2021-09-07T10:31:48Z","keyword":["process optimization","polymer engineering","compounding","twin screw extruder","simulation"],"type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"367"}],"title":"Simulating Tightly Intermeshing, Co-Rotating Twin Screw Extruders with SIGMA","year":"2010","status":"public","author":[{"first_name":"Nils","last_name":"Kretzschmar","full_name":"Kretzschmar, Nils","id":"15387"},{"last_name":"Schöppner","first_name":"Volker","full_name":"Schöppner, Volker","id":"20530"}],"date_updated":"2022-01-06T06:56:02Z","page":"133–140","_id":"23858","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"series_title":"SCSC '10","publisher":"Society for Computer Simulation International","user_id":"15387"},{"status":"public","volume":57,"user_id":"55222","_id":"9744","page":"1122","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"chicago":"Bornmann, Peter, Tobias Hemsel, Walter Littmann, Ryo Ageba, Yoishi Kadota, and Takeshi Morita. “Ultrasonic Transducer for the Hydrothermal Method.” Journal of Korean Physical Society 57, no. 4 (2010): 1122. https://doi.org/10.3938/jkps.57.1122.","short":"P. Factors benefiting from vibration reduction are for example the durability of the application, which is increased, as well as cost expenses and the level of noise, which are both decreased. Rough, bolted interfaces are common in most machines and can be used as damping devices with some effort. Perhaps in future such contact surfaces could be used as damping devices at the interfaces of an automotive engine or exhaust system. Nevertheless it is difficult to predict the effect of a change in contact interface parameters on the dynamic behavior of the entire mechanical system. Therefore a method for calculating the steady state behavior of elastic multi-body systems was developed. The basis of this method is a finite element model of each contacting unit. On each model a modal reduction is applied in order to reduce the degrees of freedom. The method of Ritz and Galerkin is used to calculate the frequency response functions of the reduced system including contact. This method allows the calculation of the steady-state behavior of elastic multi-body systems with rough, bolted contact interfaces, by taking the pre-stress of the bolts, the roughness and the friction coefficient of the contacting surfaces as parameters. In order to verify calculated results, a test stand was built. The comparison of calculated and experimental results showed a satisfying correlation.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2019-05-13T09:49:24Z","department":[{"_id":"151"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Automotive"],"author":[{"full_name":" Hölzl, Johannes Sebastian","last_name":" Hölzl","first_name":"Johannes Sebastian"},{"last_name":"Sextro","first_name":"Walter","full_name":"Sextro, Walter","id":"21220"}],"year":"2010","status":"public","title":"Simulation of the Dynamical Behavior of Elastic Multi-Body Systems with Bolted, Rough Contact Interfaces","date_updated":"2022-01-06T07:04:19Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"9748","page":"929-935","doi":"10.4271/2010-01-1422","user_id":"55222"},{"user_id":"55706","ddc":["530"],"volume":96,"_id":"4194","publisher":"AIP Publishing","has_accepted_license":"1","status":"public","file_date_updated":"2018-08-28T11:58:27Z","citation":{"ieee":"E. SCM\r\nalso reveals the presence of unintentionally doped features extending at 60° from the GaN/sapphire\r\ninterface. The observation of decreasing carrier concentration with distance from the GaN/sapphire\r\ninterface along these features may suggest that the unintentional doping arises from oxygen\r\ndiffusion from the sapphire substrate. Low temperature cathodoluminescence spectra reveal\r\nemission peaks at 3.41 and 3.30 eV, which are believed to originate from basal plane stacking faults\r\n\u0001BSFs\u0002 and prismatic stacking faults \u0001PSFs\u0002, respectively. It is shown that the inclined features\r\nextending from the GaN/sapphire interface exhibit both enhanced BSF and PSF emission. We\r\nsuggest that enhanced unintentional doping occurs in regions around PSFs. Where BSFs intersect\r\nthis doped material their emission is also enhanced due to reduced nonradiative recombination.\r\nTransmission electron microscopy confirms the presence of PSFs extending through the film at 60°\r\nfrom the GaN/sapphire interface."}],"publication":"Journal of Applied Physics","issue":"2","doi":"10.1063/1.3284944","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"023503","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 107","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2022-01-06T07:00:34Z","author":[{"full_name":"Zhu, Tongtong","last_name":"Zhu","first_name":"Tongtong"},{"first_name":"Carol F.","last_name":"Johnston","full_name":"Johnston, Carol F."},{"full_name":"Häberlen, Maik","first_name":"Maik","last_name":"Häberlen"},{"full_name":"Kappers, Menno J.","last_name":"Kappers","first_name":"Menno J."},{"full_name":"Oliver, Rachel A.","first_name":"Rachel A.","last_name":"Oliver"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0021-8979","1089-7550"]},"title":"Characterization of unintentional doping in nonpolar GaN","year":"2010","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Zhu_Johnston_Häberlen_Kappers_Oliver_2010, title={Characterization of unintentional doping in nonpolar GaN}, volume={107}, DOI={10.1063/1.3284944}, number={2023503}, journal={Journal of Applied Physics}, publisher={AIP Publishing}, author={Zhu, Tongtong and Johnston, Carol F. and Häberlen, Maik and Kappers, Menno J. and Oliver, Rachel A.}, year={2010} }","ama":"Zhu T, Johnston CF, Häberlen M, Kappers MJ, Oliver RA. In order to achieve crack-free GaN layers of\r\nreasonable thicknesses and dislocation densities it is crucial to integrate both dislocation reduction and strain management layers. In contrast to techniques like FACELO or nanoELO we show the in situ formation of GaN islands directly on the AlN nucleation layer without the need to deposit a SiO2 or SiNx mask. A graded AlGaN layer for strain management can be grown on top of this dislocation reducing 3D GaN inter-layer in order to achieve crack-free GaN layers grown on top of the AlGaN strain management layer. Furthermore, an additional SiNx layer for subsequent dislocation reduction can also be incorporated into the structure and is shown to efficiently reduce the dislocation density down to the low 10^9 cm^2. The structural properties of the 3D GaN island buffer layer and overgrown\r\nsamples are studied by means of SEM, cross-sectional, and plan view TEM. Cathodoluminiscence in an SEM is employed to correlate the dislocation microstructure as observed by plan view TEM with luminescent properties."}],"issue":"7","publication":"physica status solidi (b)","doi":"10.1002/pssb.200983537","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_type":"original","intvolume":" 247","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2022-01-06T07:00:36Z","author":[{"full_name":"Häberlen, Maik","first_name":"Maik","last_name":"Häberlen"},{"first_name":"Dandan","last_name":"Zhu","full_name":"Zhu, Dandan"},{"full_name":"McAleese, Clifford","last_name":"McAleese","first_name":"Clifford"},{"first_name":"Tongtong","last_name":"Zhu","full_name":"Zhu, Tongtong"},{"full_name":"Kappers, Menno J.","first_name":"Menno J.","last_name":"Kappers"},{"full_name":"Humphreys, Colin J.","first_name":"Colin J.","last_name":"Humphreys"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0370-1972","1521-3951"]},"title":"Dislocation reduction in GaN grown on Si(111) using a strain-driven 3D GaN interlayer","year":"2010"},{"publication":"Business \\& Information Systems Engineering (BISE)","issue":"4","abstract":[{"text":"The economic relevance of information systems has been studied for many years and has attracted an abundance of research papers. One of these additive manufacturing technologies is “Fused Deposition Modeling” (FDM). From a 3D-CAD data set, components and assemblies are manufactured out of thermoplastic material in only a few working steps. Native software automatically slices the data, calculates the support structures, and creates toolpaths. The parts then are built up layer by layer by means of an additive process. An extrusion head deposits the molten thermoplastic filament to create each layer. This technology began as a process for creating prototype parts; recently it has found new utility in the production of manufacturing tools and as a manufacturing process for end-use parts. In order to be used as a part for serial production, the components must possess the required mechanical properties. To this end, not only is the chosen material relevant, but a correct process control is also necessary. An interesting material for the aircraft and automotive industry is the material PEI with the trade name Ultem*9085. This material should typically be used on FDM-machines for the manufacturing of end products. The aim of the research is to determine the present mechanical data based on the process control, as well as reproducibility from job to job. In this work the influence of the orientation and the structure of the manufactured parts based on the mechanical data are analyzed. Sample parts are generated with the given parameters of the native software based upon the CAD data. First, specimens were analyzed concerning their geometry and configuration. The dimensions and weight were measured. The mechanical tests conducted were the tensile and compression tests."}],"quality_controlled":"1","_id":"22050","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"https://docplayer.net/255735-Fdm-part-quality-manufactured-with-ultem-9085.html","user_id":"70729","publication_identifier":{"isbn":["978-3-868-29282-4"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Bagsik, A.","last_name":"Bagsik","first_name":"A."},{"id":"20530","full_name":"Schöppner, Volker","last_name":"Schöppner","first_name":"Volker"},{"last_name":"Klemp","first_name":"E.","full_name":"Klemp, E."}],"year":"2010","title":"FDM Part Quality Manufactured with ULTEM 9085","status":"public","date_updated":"2022-04-25T08:04:26Z"},{"publication_identifier":{"isbn":["9783643105103"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Schlegel-Matthies","first_name":"Kirsten","full_name":"Schlegel-Matthies, Kirsten","id":"459"}],"title":"Überschuldung - Bildungsbezogene Perspektive","year":"2010","status":"public","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-01-11T11:25:57Z","_id":"36036","language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"publisher":"Lit-Verlag","page":"247 - 250","editor":[{"first_name":"Christine","last_name":"Müller","full_name":"Müller, Christine"},{"first_name":"Franziska","last_name":"Schulz","full_name":"Schulz, Franziska"},{"last_name":"Thien","first_name":"Ulrich","full_name":"Thien, Ulrich"}],"user_id":"459","citation":{"chicago":"Schlegel-Matthies, Kirsten. “Überschuldung - Bildungsbezogene Perspektive.” In Auf dem Weg zum Jugendintegrationskonzept. Recently, we identified a loss-of-function mutation in the alpha-subunit of ENaC (alphaF61L) in an atypical CF patient without mutations in CFTR. To investigate the functional effect of this mutation, we expressed human wild-type alpha beta gamma-ENaC or mutant alpha(F61L) beta gamma-ENaC in Xenopus laevis oocytes. The alphaF61L mutation reduced the ENaC mediated whole-cell currents by approximately 90%. In contrast, the mutation decreased channel surface expression only by approximately 40% and did not alter the single-channel conductance. These findings indicate that the major effect of the mutation is a reduction of the average channel open probability (P(o)). This was confirmed by experiments using the betaS520C mutant ENaC which can be converted to a channel with a P(o) of nearly one, and by experiments using chymotrypsin to proteolytically activate the channel. These experiments revealed that the mutation reduced the average P(o) of ENaC by approximately 75%. Na(+) self inhibition of the mutant channel was significantly enhanced, but the observed effect was too small to account for the large reduction in average channel P(o). The ENaC-activator S3969 partially rescued the loss-of-function phenotype of the alphaF61L mutation. We conclude that the alphaF61L mutation may contribute to respiratory symptoms in atypical CF patients.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2024-06-30T13:56:57Z","department":[{"_id":"35"},{"_id":"22"}],"type":"journal_article"},{"department":[{"_id":"672"}],"keyword":["Unified modeling language","Field programmable gate arrays","Bridges","Helium","Real time systems","Operating systems","Documentation","Application software","XML","Space exploration"],"type":"conference","date_created":"2023-01-17T09:12:35Z","place":"Dresden","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"UML is widely applied for the specification and modeling of software and some studies have demonstrated that it is applicable for HW/SW codesign.
