Clinching is a conventional cold forming process in which two or more sheets can be joined without auxiliary parts. A pre-forming of the parts to be joined, which is introduced by previous manufacturing steps, has an influence on the joining result. When considering the suitability for joining with regard to the formability of the materials, the influence of the preforming steps must be taken into account. The influences of strain hardening and sheet thickness on the joining properties must be investigated. In this context, a Finite Element Method (FEM) based metamodel analysis of the clinching process was carried out in [1] to investigate the robustness of the clinching process with respect to the different material pre-strains. In [2], the method was extended to the load bearing simulation.Procedure. The metamodel from preliminary work based on various FE models, which predicts the load-bearing capacity of a clinched joint influenced by pre-straining, is compared here with experimental data and the accuracy of the metamodel prediction is discussed. For this purpose an experimental procedure was further develop which allows the preforming of metal sheets from which joining specimens can be separated with a certain degree of unidirectional deformation. In the study, the procedure for preparing the joint specimens and the results of the loading tests are presented. These analyses rely on locally analyzing the properties, directionality, and magnitude of the second-order nonlinear tensor. However, when inspecting FE DWs with SH microscopy, a manifold of different effects may contribute to the observed signal difference between domains and DWs, i.e., far-field interference, Čerenkov-type phase-matching (CSHG), and changes in the aforementioned local nonlinear optical properties. They all might be present at the same time and, therefore, require careful interpretation and separation. In this work, we demonstrate how the particularly strong Čerenkov-type contrast can selectively be blocked using dark- and bright-field SH microscopy. Based on this approach, we show that other contrast mechanisms emerge that were previously overlayed by CSHG but can now be readily selected through the appropriate experimental geometry. Using the methods presented, we show that the strength of the CSHG contrast compared to the other mechanisms is approximately 22 times higher. IEEE; 2022."},"abstract":[{"text":"Cascaded H-bridge Converters (CHBs) are a promising solution in converting power from a three-phase medium voltage of 6.6 kV...30 kV to a lower DC-voltage in the range of 100 V...1 kV to provide pure DC power to applications such as electrolyzers for hydrogen generation, data centers with a DC power distribution and DC microgrids. CHBs can be interpreted as modular multilevel converters with an isolated DC-DC output stage per module, require a large DC-link capacitor for each module to handle the second harmonic voltage ripple caused by the fluctuating input power within a fundamental grid period. Without a zero-sequence voltage injection, star-connected CHBs are operated with approximately sinusoidal arm voltages and currents. The floating star point potential enables to utilize different zero-sequence voltage injection techniques such as a third-harmonic injection with 1/6 of the grid voltage amplitude or a Min-Max voltage injection. Both well-known methods have the advantage to reduce the peak arm voltage and thereby the number of required modules by 13.4 % (to √ 3 2). This paper proves analytically that the third-harmonic injection with 1/6 of the grid voltage amplitude reduces the second harmonic voltage ripple by only 15.1 % compared to no-voltage injection for unity power factor operation and balanced grid voltages. Then it is shown, that the Min-Max injection has the often overlooked advantage of reducing the second harmonic voltage ripple by even 18.8 %. By applying the here proposed zero-sequence voltage injection in saturation modulation, the second harmonic voltage ripple of the DC-link capacitors is reduced by even 24.3 %, while still requiring the same number of modules as the Min-Max injection. In this work a neural network (NN)-based approach for carrier frequency offset (CFO) estimation from demodulated SSB signals is proposed, whereby a task specific architecture is presented. Additionally, a simulation framework for SSB signals is introduced and utilized for training the NNs. The CFO estimator is combined with a speech enhancement network to investigate its influence on the enhancement performance. The NN-based system is compared to a recently proposed pitch tracking based approach on publicly available data from real high frequency transmissions. Training and evaluation of these single tasks requires synthetic\r\ndata with access to intermediate signals that is as close as possible to the\r\nevaluation scenario. As such data often is not available, many works instead\r\nuse specialized databases for the training of each system component, e.g\r\nWSJ0-mix for source separation. We present a Multi-purpose Multi-Speaker\r\nMixture Signal Generator (MMS-MSG) for generating a variety of speech mixture\r\nsignals based on any speech corpus, ranging from classical anechoic mixtures\r\n(e.g., WSJ0-mix) over reverberant mixtures (e.g., SMS-WSJ) to meeting-style\r\ndata. Its highly modular and flexible structure allows for the simulation of\r\ndiverse environments and dynamic mixing, while simultaneously enabling an easy\r\nextension and modification to generate new scenarios and mixture types. These\r\nmeetings can be used for prototyping, evaluation, or training purposes. We\r\nprovide example evaluation data and baseline results for meetings based on the\r\nWSJ corpus. Ultrasonic Lamb waves are excited via the thermoelastic effect using laser radiation and detected by a piezoelectric transducer. The resulting measurement data is transformed to yield information about multiple propagating Lamb waves as well as their attenuation. Fiber-reinforced thermoplastics are mainly manufactured by injection molding and extrusion, whereby the extrusion compounding process is primarily used to produce fiber-filled granulates. Reproducible production of high-quality components requires a granulate in which the fiber length is even and high. However, the extrusion process leads to the fact that fiber breakages can occur during processing. To enable a significant quality enhancement, experimentally validated modeling is required. In this study, short glass fiber reinforced thermoplastics (polypropylene) were produced on two different twin-screw extruders. Therefore, the machine-specific process behavior is of major interest regarding its influence. First, the fiber length change after processing was determined by experimental investigations and then simulated with the SIGMA simulation software. By comparing the simulation and experimental tests, important insights could be gained and the effects on fiber lengths could be determined in advance. The resulting fiber lengths and distributions were different, not only for different screw configurations (SC), but also for the same screw configurations on different twin-screw extruders.
