Furthermore products and the corresponding manufacturing processes get more and more complex. Therefore, companies need new methods for the planning of manufacturing systems. One promising approach in this context is digital factory/virtual production—the modeling and analysis of computer models of the planned factory with the objective to reduce time and costs. For the modeling and analysis various simulation methods and programs have been developed. They are a highly valuable support for planning and visualizing the manufacturing system. But there is one major disadvantage: only experienced and long trained experts are able to operate with these programs. The graphical user interface is very complex and not intuitive to use. This results in an extensive and error-prone modeling of complex simulation models and a time-consuming interpretation of the simulation results.\r\n\r\nTo overcome these weak points, intuitive and understandable man–machine interfaces like augmented and virtual reality can be used. This paper describes the architecture of a system which uses the technologies of augmented and virtual reality to support the planning process of complex manufacturing systems. The proposed system assists the user in modeling, the validation of the simulation model, and the subsequent optimization of the production system. A general application of the VR- and AR-technologies and of the simulation is realized by the development of appropriate linking and integration mechanisms. In this paper we address the problem of occlusion culling. Aila, Miettinen, and Nordlund suggested to implement a FIFO buffer on graphics cards which is able to delay the polygons before drawing them. When one of the polygons within the buffer is occluded or masked by another polygon arriving later from the application, the rendering engine can drop the occluded one without rendering, saving important rendering time.<br>We introduce a theoretical online model to analyse these problems in theory using competitive analysis. For different cost measures addressed we invent the first competitive algorithms for online occlusion culling. While endothelia are indispensable for repair of acute damage, they can produce extracellular matrix proteins and profibrogenic cytokines that promote fibrogenesis. We used a murine cell line with all features of glomerular endothelial cells (glEND.2), which dissected the effects of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) on cell migration, proliferation, and profibrogenic cytokine production. VEGF dose-dependently induced glEND.2 cell migration and proliferation, accompanied by up-regulation of VEGFR-2 phosphorylation and mRNA expression. VEGF induced a profibrogenic gene expression profile, including up-regulation of TGF-beta1 mRNA, enhanced TGF-beta1 secretion, and bioactivity. VEGF-induced endothelial cell migration and TGF-beta1 induction were mediated by the phosphatidyl-inositol-3 kinase pathway, while proliferation was dependent on the Erk1/2 MAP kinase pathway. Few of these approaches were successful and none has shown to provide all the promised functions. We try to study the processes in computer networks using molecular processes as the paradigm. This novel approach shows many similarities between computer networking and cellular mechanisms. In this paper, we focus on the area of network security as one research area with high demand for high-scalable mechanisms providing the needed functionality. After identifying similarities between nature and technology, we discuss potential research domains, which are high potentials for learning directly from molecular biology using the example of security threats in communication networks. We see the proposed mechanism as a generic approach for autonomous networking. The complex anion was isolated as its PPh<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>‐salt <jats:bold>2b</jats:bold>. The latter reacts with coinage metal complexes PPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>M<jats:sup>2</jats:sup>Cl [M<jats:sup>2</jats:sup> = Cu, Ag, Au] to give chiral heterometallatetrahedranes of the general formula [Re<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(AuPPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)(M<jats:sup>2</jats:sup>PPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)(μ‐PCy<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)(CO)<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>C≡CPh] (M<jats:sup>2</jats:sup> = Cu <jats:bold>3a</jats:bold>, Ag <jats:bold>3b</jats:bold>, Au <jats:bold>3c</jats:bold>). The corresponding complex [Re<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(AgPPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(μ‐PCy<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)(CO)<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>C≡CPh] (<jats:bold>3d</jats:bold>) is obtained from the reaction of [Re<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(AgPPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(μ‐PCy<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)(CO)<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>Cl] (<jats:bold>4</jats:bold>) with LiC≡CPh. <jats:bold>3d</jats:bold> undergoes a metathesis reaction in the presence of PPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>CuCl giving [Re<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(AgPPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)(CuPPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)(μ‐PCy<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)(CO)<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>C≡CPh] (<jats:bold>3e</jats:bold>) and PPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>AgCl. Analogous metathesis reactions are observed when <jats:bold>3c</jats:bold> is reacted with PPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>AgCl or PPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>CuCl giving <jats:bold>3a</jats:bold> or <jats:bold>3b</jats:bold>, respectively. The reaction of <jats:bold>1</jats:bold> with PPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>AuCl gives benzaldehyde and Li[Re<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(AuPPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)(μ‐PCy<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)(CO)<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>Cl] (<jats:bold>5a</jats:bold>) which upon reaction with PhLi forms the trinuclear complex Li[Re<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>(AuPPh<jats:sub>3</jats:sub>)(μ‐PCy<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>)(CO)<jats:sub>7</jats:sub>Ph] (<jats:bold>6a</jats:bold>). Again this complex was isolated as its PPh<jats:sub>4</jats:sub>‐salt <jats:bold>6b</jats:bold>.
