  abstract = {{Recently, a new class of nonlinear systems was introduced, in which the self-trapping of fundamental and vortical localized modes in space of dimension D is supported by cubic self-repulsion with a strength growing as a function of the distance from the center, r, at any rate faster that rD. These systems support robust 2D and 3D modes which either do not exist or are unstable in other nonlinear systems. Here we demonstrate a possibility to create solitary vortices in this setting by applying a phase-imprinting torque to the ground state. Initially, a strong torque completely destroys the ground state. However, contrary to usual systems, where the destruction is irreversible, the present ones demonstrate a rapid restabilization and the creation of one or several shifted vortices orbiting the center. For the sake of comparison, we show analytically that, in the linear system with a 3D trapping potential, the action of a torque on the ground state is inefficient and creates only even-vorticity states with a small probability.}},

  abstract = {{Many of the available RDF datasets describe millions of resources by using billions of triples. Consequently, millions of links can potentially exist among such datasets. While parallel implementations of link discovery approaches have been developed in the past, load balancing approaches for local implementations of link discovery algorithms have been paid little attention to. In this paper, we thus present a novel load balancing technique for link discovery on parallel hardware based on particle-swarm optimization. We combine this approach with the Orchid algorithm for geo-spatial linking and evaluate it on real and artificial datasets. Our evaluation suggests that while naïve approaches can be super-linear on small data sets, our deterministic particle swarm optimization outperforms both naïve and classical load balancing approaches such as greedy load balancing on large datasets.}},

@inproceedings{25115,
  abstract = {{Automatically composing service-based software solutions is still a challenging task. Functional as well as nonfunctional properties have to be considered in order to satisfy individual user requests. Regarding non-functional properties, the composition process can be modeled as optimization problem and solved accordingly. Functional properties, in turn, can be described by means of a formal specification language. Statespace based planning approaches can then be applied to solve the underlying composition problem. However, depending on the expressiveness of the applied formalism and the completeness of the functional descriptions, formally equivalent services may still differ with respect to their implemented functionality. As a consequence, the most appropriate solution for a desired functionality can hardly be determined without considering additional information. In this paper, we demonstrate how to overcome this lack of information by means of Reinforcement Learning. In order to resolve ambiguity, we expand state-space based service composition by a recommendation mechanism that supports decision-making beyond formal specifications. The recommendation mechanism adjusts its recommendation strategy based on feedback from previous composition runs. Image processing serves as case study. Experimental results show the benefit of our proposed solution.}},
