However, current catalyst systems face challenges due to the need for materials with both a strong piezoelectric effect and favorable catalytic activity. Herein, the construction of an oxidized carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) matrix anchored with TiO2 nanoparticles via alkaline hydrothermal treatment is reported. Under ultrasonication, the g‐C3N4/TiO2 composite exhibits optimal performance under carefully controlled alkaline hydrothermal conditions. With a low concentration of Ba(OH)2 during hydrothermal treatment, Ba(OH)2 provides an alkaline medium, oxidizing the g‐C3N4 species and introducing structural defects into the g‐C3N4 framework. The disruption of the g‐C3N4 matrix, along with its interaction with TiO2 nanoparticles, enhances the piezoelectric effect. Consequently, the oxidized g‐C3N4/TiO2 composite achieves a remarkable H2 production rate of 4427.2 μmol g−1 and an H2O2 production rate of 809.3 μmol g−1 within 1 h without the addition of any sacrificial agents or cocatalysts. This work presents an effective strategy for the structural optimization of g‐C3N4‐based materials and may inspire new approaches for designing advanced piezocatalysts.
"}],"article_number":"e202500980","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1002/cssc.202500980","title":"Oxidation‐Enhanced Piezocatalytic Activity in Carbon Nitride‐Based Catalysts for Hydrogen and Hydrogen Peroxide Production","year":"2025","author":[{"full_name":"Pan, Ying","last_name":"Pan","first_name":"Ying"},{"last_name":"Liao","first_name":"Luocheng","full_name":"Liao, Luocheng"},{"last_name":"Zhang","first_name":"Xinwen","full_name":"Zhang, Xinwen"},{"full_name":"Liu, Yunya","last_name":"Liu","first_name":"Yunya"},{"full_name":"Su, Ran","last_name":"Su","first_name":"Ran"},{"last_name":"Lopez Salas","first_name":"Nieves","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8438-9548","full_name":"Lopez Salas, Nieves","id":"98120"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1864-5631","1864-564X"]},"date_updated":"2026-01-08T13:00:03Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 18","citation":{"chicago":"Pan, Ying, Luocheng Liao, Xinwen Zhang, Yunya Liu, Ran Su, and Nieves Lopez Salas. “Oxidation‐Enhanced Piezocatalytic Activity in Carbon Nitride‐Based Catalysts for Hydrogen and Hydrogen Peroxide Production.” <i>ChemSusChem</i> 18, no. 19 (2025). <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1002/cssc.202500980\">https://doi.org/10.1002/cssc.202500980</a>.","short":"Y. This requires knowledge of the frictional power distribution in the tire contact patch, which is the basis for calculating tire wear using a wear law. Usually, only 3D structural tire models can generate such distributed contact results. However, they involve high computational costs and cannot be used for comprehensive optimization of a vehicle’s suspension system with respect to tire wear characteristics. Hence, this contribution presents a methodology on how to accelerate the prediction of the frictional power distribution using two components: The structural tire model is replaced by an empirical tire model that on its own is not able to generate distributed contact results. Therefore, an artificial neural network is trained to predict the desired contact results from the kinematic quantities calculated by the empirical tire model. In the initial training phase, both components are fitted to data generated by the original complex tire model. After training, the empirical tire model can replace the structural tire model in vehicle simulations, resulting in significantly shorter calculation times. The simulation results are fed into the artificial neural network, which predicts the frictional power distributions over the tire width with negligible additional effort. Overall, the methodology reduces calculation time for the prediction of tire wear based on virtual test drives to approximately 25% of the time needed when using structural tire models."}],"extern":"1","citation":{"chicago":"Muth, Lars, Raphael Zharia, Hürkan Sahin, and Walter Sextro. “Prediction of the Frictional Power Distribution in the Tire Contact Patch Based on an Empirical Tire Model and an Artificial Neural Network.” <i>Tire Science and Technology</i>, 2025. PCM are materials whose phase change characteristics during melting and solidification are utilized for heating and cooling purposes. The theoretical foundations of heat transfer problems involving phase change, along with the relevant numerical solution methods, are discussed. A phase change model is presented, which was validated against analytical solutions and applied in the case studies. For both case studies, a review of the state of the art is provided, followed by the formulation of specific research problems. The first case study investigated PCM-enhanced photovoltaic modules, while the second focused on packed bed latent heat storages (PBLHS) utilizing non-spherical PCM capsules. Thermal models were developed for both systems and validated with good accuracy against experimental data. These models were employed in parameter studies to identify optimized system configurations. The presented results demonstrate that a PCM heat sink with sufficient thickness and thermal conductivity can significantly improve the efficiency and lifespan of photovoltaic modules. Furthermore, PCM capsules with both high packing density and surface area increase the volume-specific storage capacity and thermal power output of PBLHS.","lang":"eng"}],"supervisor":[{"last_name":"Kenig","first_name":"Eugeny","full_name":"Kenig, Eugeny","id":"665"}],"citation":{"mla":"Grabo, Matti. <i>Modeling and Optimization of Energy System Components Equipped with Phase Change Materials</i>. 2025, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2199\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2199</a>.","ama":"Grabo M. <i>Modeling and Optimization of Energy System Components Equipped with Phase Change Materials</i>.; 2025. doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2199\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2199</a>","bibtex":"@book{Grabo_2025, place={Paderborn}, title={Modeling and optimization of energy system components equipped with phase change materials}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2199\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2199</a>}, author={Grabo, Matti}, year={2025} }","apa":"Grabo, M. The nonlinear Schrödinger equation and its extensions (Gross-Pitaevskii equation) are widely studied to model and analyze complex phenomena in fields such as optics, condensed matter physics, fluid dynamics, and plasma physics. It serves as a powerful tool for understanding nonlinear wave dynamics, soliton formation, and the interplay between nonlinearity, dispersion, and diffraction. By extending the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, various physical effects such as non-Hermiticity, spin-orbit interaction, and quantum optical aspects can be incorporated. PHOENIX is designed to accommodate a wide range of applications by a straightforward extendability without the need for user knowledge of computing architectures or performance optimization. The high performance and power efficiency of PHOENIX are demonstrated on a wide range of entry-class to high-end consumer and high-performance computing GPUs and CPUs. Compared to a more conventional MATLAB implementation, a speedup of up to three orders of magnitude and energy savings of up to 99.8% are achieved. The performance is compared to a performance model showing that PHOENIX performs close to the relevant performance bounds in many situations. The possibilities of PHOENIX are demonstrated with a range of practical examples from the realm of nonlinear (quantum) photonics in planar microresonators with active media including exciton-polariton condensates. Examples range from solutions on very large grids, the use of local optimization algorithms, to Monte Carlo ensemble evolutions with quantum noise enabling the tomography of the system's quantum state.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Computer Physics Communications","doi":"10.1016/j.cpc.2025.109689","article_number":"109689","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2025-06-29T12:00:36Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 315","article_type":"original","title":"PHOENIX – Paderborn highly optimized and energy efficient solver for two-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equations with integrated extensions","year":"2025","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0010-4655"]},"author":[{"id":"69187","full_name":"Wingenbach, Jan","last_name":"Wingenbach","first_name":"Jan"},{"id":"44172","last_name":"Bauch","first_name":"David","full_name":"Bauch, David"},{"last_name":"Ma","first_name":"Xuekai","full_name":"Ma, Xuekai","id":"59416"},{"full_name":"Schade, Robert","first_name":"Robert","orcid":"0000-0002-6268-5397","last_name":"Schade","id":"75963"},{"id":"16153","full_name":"Plessl, Christian","orcid":"0000-0001-5728-9982","first_name":"Christian","last_name":"Plessl"},{"id":"27271","full_name":"Schumacher, Stefan","orcid":"0000-0003-4042-4951","last_name":"Schumacher","first_name":"Stefan"}]},{"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2050-2974"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Knoll-Pientka, N","first_name":"N","last_name":"Knoll-Pientka"},{"last_name":"Schils","first_name":"D","full_name":"Schils, D"},{"full_name":"Pasternak, K","last_name":"Pasternak","first_name":"K"},{"last_name":"Czarnetzky","first_name":"S","full_name":"Czarnetzky, S"},{"first_name":"C","last_name":"Jansen","full_name":"Jansen, C"},{"first_name":"G","last_name":"Gradl-Dietsch","full_name":"Gradl-Dietsch, G"},{"full_name":"Seitz, J","last_name":"Seitz","first_name":"J"},{"full_name":"Skoda, EM","last_name":"Skoda","first_name":"EM"},{"full_name":"Libuda, Lars","first_name":"Lars","orcid":"0000-0003-1603-3133","last_name":"Libuda","id":"88682"},{"first_name":"A","last_name":"Schweda","full_name":"Schweda, A"},{"full_name":"Teufel, M","first_name":"M","last_name":"Teufel"}],"title":"Can bioelectrical impedance analysis be used to identify water loading in patients with anorexia nervosa?- Implications from experimental measurements in young, healthy, and normal weight women.","status":"public","year":"2025","intvolume":" 13","date_updated":"2025-06-30T10:26:06Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"60471","page":"87","volume":13,"pmid":"1","user_id":"88682","citation":{"ama":"Knoll-Pientka N, Schils D, Pasternak K, et al. The chemical and electronic properties of AlInP (001) depend on its surface reconstruction, which impacts its interaction with electrolytes in PEC applications and passivation layers. This study investigates AlInP (001) surface reconstructions using density functional theory and experimental methods. Phosphorus‐rich (P‐rich) and indium‐rich (In‐rich) AlInP surfaces are prepared with in situ monitoring of the process by reflection anisotropy (RA) spectroscopy and confirmed by low‐energy electron diffraction and photoemission spectroscopy. The experimental RA spectra closely match the theoretical predictions obtained by solving the Bethe–Salpeter equation. It is shown that missing hydrogen on P‐rich surfaces and formation of In–In 1D atomic chains on In‐rich surfaces introduce mid‐gap surface states that pin the Fermi level and induce band bending. Time‐resolved two‐photon photoemission measurements reveal ultrafast near‐surface electron dynamics for both P‐rich and In‐rich surfaces, demonstrating photoexcited electrons reaching the surface conduction band minimum and relaxing to mid‐gap surface states on about hundreds of fs. This work provides the most extensive AlInP surface analysis to date, allowing for more targeted surface and interface engineering, which is crucial for the optimization and design of III‐V heterostructures.
"}],"_id":"60580","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publisher":"Wiley","doi":"10.1002/adfm.202423702","user_id":"79462","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1616-301X","1616-3028"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Zare Pour","first_name":"Mohammad Amin","full_name":"Zare Pour, Mohammad Amin"},{"last_name":"Shekarabi","first_name":"Sahar","full_name":"Shekarabi, Sahar"},{"id":"79462","full_name":"Ruiz Alvarado, Isaac Azahel","first_name":"Isaac Azahel","last_name":"Ruiz Alvarado","orcid":"0000-0002-4710-1170"},{"last_name":"Diederich","first_name":"Jonathan","full_name":"Diederich, Jonathan"},{"last_name":"Gao","first_name":"Yuyings","full_name":"Gao, Yuyings"},{"full_name":"Paszuk, Agnieszka","last_name":"Paszuk","first_name":"Agnieszka"},{"full_name":"Moritz, Dominik C.","last_name":"Moritz","first_name":"Dominik C."},{"full_name":"Jaegermann, Wolfram","last_name":"Jaegermann","first_name":"Wolfram"},{"full_name":"Friedrich, Dennis","first_name":"Dennis","last_name":"Friedrich"},{"full_name":"van de Krol, Roel","last_name":"van de Krol","first_name":"Roel"},{"first_name":"Wolf Gero","last_name":"Schmidt","orcid":"0000-0002-2717-5076","full_name":"Schmidt, Wolf Gero","id":"468"},{"full_name":"Hannappel, Thomas","first_name":"Thomas","last_name":"Hannappel"}],"title":"Exploring Electronic States and Ultrafast Electron Dynamics in AlInP Window Layers: The Role of Surface Reconstruction","status":"public","year":"2025","date_updated":"2025-07-09T13:54:05Z","publication_status":"published"},{"publication":"Proceedings of the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference, GECCO 2025, NH Malaga Hotel, Malaga, Spain, July 14-18, 2025","citation":{"mla":"Seiler, Moritz, et al. “RandOptGen: A Unified Random Problem Generator for Single- and Multi-Objective Optimization Problems with Mixed-Variable Input Spaces.” <i>Proceedings of the Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference, GECCO 2025, NH Malaga Hotel, Malaga, Spain, July 14-18, 2025</i>, edited by Bogdan Filipic, ACM, 2025, pp. 76–84, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1145/3712256.3726478\">10.1145/3712256.3726478</a>.","ama":"Seiler M, Preuß OL, Trautmann H.
