  text: 'Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving transformative changes across numerous
    fields, revolutionizing conventional processes and creating new opportunities
    for innovation. The development of mechatronic systems is undergoing a similar
    transformation. Over the past decade, modeling, simulation, and optimization techniques
    have become integral to the design process, paving the way for the adoption of
    AI-based methods. In this paper, we examine the potential for integrating AI into
    the engineering design process, using the V-model from the VDI guideline 2206,
    considered the state-of-the-art in product design, as a foundation. We identify
    and classify AI methods based on their suitability for specific stages within
    the engineering product design workflow. Furthermore, we present a series of application
    examples where AI-assisted design has been successfully implemented by the authors.
    These examples, drawn from research projects within the DFG Priority Program \emph{SPP~2353:
    Daring More Intelligence - Design Assistants in Mechanics and Dynamics}, showcase
    a diverse range of applications across mechanics and mechatronics, including areas
    such as acoustics and robotics.'

  text: "This study contributes to the evolving field of robot learning in interaction\r\nwith
    humans, examining the impact of diverse input modalities on learning\r\noutcomes.
    It introduces the concept of \"meta-modalities\" which encapsulate\r\nadditional
    forms of feedback beyond the traditional preference and scalar\r\nfeedback mechanisms.
    Unlike prior research that focused on individual\r\nmeta-modalities, this work
    evaluates their combined effect on learning\r\noutcomes. Through a study with
    human participants, we explore user preferences\r\nfor these modalities and their
    impact on robot learning performance. Our\r\nfindings reveal that while individual
    modalities are perceived differently,\r\ntheir combination significantly improves
    learning behavior and usability. This\r\nresearch not only provides valuable insights
    into the optimization of\r\nhuman-robot interactive task learning but also opens
    new avenues for enhancing\r\nthe interactive freedom and scaffolding capabilities
    provided to users in such\r\nsettings."

  text: In this paper we introduce, in a Hilbert space setting, a second order dynamical
    system with asymptotically vanishing damping and vanishing Tikhonov regularization
    that approaches a multiobjective optimization problem with convex and differentiable
    components of the objective function. Trajectory solutions are shown to exist
    in finite dimensions. We prove fast convergence of the function values, quantified
    in terms of a merit function. Based on the regime considered, we establish both
    weak and, in some cases, strong convergence of trajectory solutions toward a weak
    Pareto optimal solution. To achieve this, we apply Tikhonov regularization individually
    to each component of the objective function. This work extends results from single
    objective convex optimization into the multiobjective setting.

    von Energiesystemen mit Schwerpunkt auf dem Elektrizitätssektor im Kontext der
    Energiewende. Aufbauend auf Methoden des Operations Research werden Planungs-
    und Steuerungsprobleme in den Bereichen Stromverteilnetze und energiebewusste
    Produktionsplanung adressiert. Die Arbeit umfasst fünf Beiträge: (P1) entwickelt
    ein lineares Multi-Commodity-Flow-Modell für die kostenoptimale Erweiterung großskaliger
    Verteilnetze unter Berücksichtigung von Resilienzszenarien und analysiert den
    Zusammenhang zwischen Modellparametern und Rechenzeiten; (P2) und (P3) befassen
    sich mit der mehrzielorientierten flexible Job Shop Scheduling-Optimierung unter
    Echtzeit-Strompreisen, wobei (P3) zusätzlich CO2-Emissionen als Zielgröße integriert;
    (P4) erweitert dieses Szenario um simultane Energiebeschaffungsentscheidungen
    aus Netz, erneuerbaren Quellen und Speichersystemen unter Unsicherheit mittels
    Rolling-Horizon-Ansatz; (P5) vergleicht unterschiedliche Klassen von Many-Objective
    Evolutionary Algorithms (dominanz-, indikatoren- und dekompositionsbasiert) im
    Hinblick auf Konvergenz, Diversität und Vollständigkeit der Paretofront. Die entwickelten
    Modelle und Algorithmen – darunter memetische Varianten von NSGA-II, NSGA-III,

    production scheduling. The work comprises five contributions: (P1) develops a
    linear multi-commodity flow model for cost-optimal expansion of large-scale distribution
    networks under resilience scenarios and analyzes the relationship between model
    parameters and computation times; (P2) and (P3) address multi-objective flexible
    job shop scheduling under real-time electricity pricing, with (P3) further incorporating
    CO2 emissions as an explicit optimization objective; (P4) extends this scenario
    to include simultaneous energy procurement decisions from the grid, on-site renewable
    sources, and energy storage systems under uncertainty, using a rolling horizon
    approach; (P5) compares different classes of many-objective evolutionary algorithms
    (dominance-, indicator-, and decomposition-based) in terms of convergence, diversity,
    and completeness of the Pareto front. The proposed models and algorithms—including
    memetic variants of NSGA-II, NSGA-III, θ-DEA, and HypE—are evaluated through extensive
    computational experiments. The findings provide practical recommendations for
    distribution network operators, manufacturing companies, and policymakers, contributing
    to the development of efficient, reliable, and low-emission energy systems for
    the future.'

    optimization. An adapted modeling notation DSL4DPiFS for forming processes is
    presented to model hardware, software, and data flow aspects to support the design

  text: <jats:p>Laser powder bed fusion is a cornerstone technology for additive manufacturing
    (AM) of metals and polymers, yet challenges in achieving consistent reproducibility
    and process optimization persist. Addressing these requires a systematic understanding
    of the interactions between feedstock, process parameters, and final part characteristics
    throughout the entire production chain. This study presents results from a comprehensive
    interlaboratory investigation conducted by 32 research institutions, evaluating
    six feedstock, including nanoparticle‐modified aluminum alloy and polyamide powders,
    under standardized protocols. Data analysis encompasses 69 powder properties,
    15 process parameters per print, and 78 part features, culminating in a dataset
    of over 1.2 million correlations. Advanced statistical methods and machine learning
    are employed to identify critical variability drivers, such as the impact of nanoparticle
    modifications on powder flowability and thermal conductivity, as well as the influence
    of process parameters on reproducibility. Newly introduced dimensionless figures
    of merit provide universal metrics to describe and predict thermal and mechanical
    interactions, simplifying process optimization and material characterization.
    The findings, supported by an open‐access dataset adhering to findable, accessible,
    interoperable, and reusable principles, advance understanding of material–process–structure–property
    relationships. They establish a benchmark for future research and lay the foundation
    for improving the reliability, quality, and sustainability of AM processes.</jats:p>

  text: Diese Dissertation befasst sich mit der Entwicklung eines induktiv-basierten
    Lokalisierungsverfahrens mittels planarer Spulen, das auf magnetischer Kopplung
    beruht. Grundlage ist die elektromagnetische Induktion, bei der sich die entstehende
    Spannung proportional zur Gegeninduktivität verhält. Das Verfahren arbeitet im
    physikalischen Nahfeld und im Frequenzbereich von einigen kHz bis MHz, um eine
    effiziente Kopplung ohne Ausbreitung elektromagnetischer Wellen zu gewährleisten.
    Im Vergleich zu etablierten Verfahren wie GPS oder Ultraschall zeigt die induktive
    Ortung Vorteile bei kurzer Reichweite, insbesondere durch hohe Genauigkeit im
    Zentimeterbereich und geringe Materialabhängigkeit. Zudem lässt sie sich in bestehende
    Technologien wie bei der drahtlosen Energieübertragung integrieren und durch Sensorfusion
    mit anderen Verfahren kombinieren. Zur Modellierung und Optimierung werden physikalische
    Eigenschaften von planaren Spulen und EM-Feldern analysiert und elektrische Ersatzschaltbilder
    eingesetzt. Die geometriebasierte Berechnung der Gegeninduktivität ermöglicht
    die Entwicklung und Bewertung geeigneter Ortungsalgorithmen. Stochastische Filterverfahren
    verbessern zusätzlich die Robustheit gegenüber Umgebungseinflüssen. Abschließend
    wird eine modulare Simulationsplattform vorgestellt, die als Grundlage für die
    Generierung von Trainingsdaten sowie zur Weiterentwicklung von Mess-, Ortungs-
    und Filtermethoden dient.

  text: This dissertation addresses the development of an inductively based localization
    method using planar coils, which relies on magnetic coupling. The underlying principle
    is electromagnetic induction, where the resulting voltage is proportional to the
    mutual inductance. The method operates in the physical near field and within a
    frequency range from a few kHz to MHz, ensuring efficient coupling without the
    propagation of electromagnetic waves. Compared to established methods such as
    GPS or ultrasound, inductive localization offers advantages at short range—particularly
    high accuracy in the centimeter range and low dependency on surrounding materials.
    Additionally, it can be integrated into existing technologies, such as wireless
    power transfer systems, and combined with other methods through sensor fusion.
    To support modeling and optimization, the physical properties of planar coils
    and electromagnetic fields are analyzed, and equivalent electrical circuit models
    are used. Geometry-based calculations of mutual inductance enable the development
    and evaluation of suitable localization algorithms. Stochastic filtering methods
    further enhance robustness against environmental influences. Finally, a modular
    simulation platform is presented, which serves as a foundation for generating
    training data as well as for the further development of measurement, localization,
    and filtering methods.

  text: 'Diese Dissertation enthält Beiträge zum Bereich der Mehrzieloptimierung mit
    einem Fokus auf unbeschränkten Problemen, die auf einem allgemeinen Hilbertraum
    definiert sind. Für Mehrzieloptimierungsprobleme mit lokal Lipschitz-stetigen
    Zielfunktionen definieren wir ein multikriterielles Subdifferential, das wir erstmals
    im Kontext allgemeiner Hilberträume analysieren. Aufbauend auf diesen theoretischen
    Untersuchungen präsentieren wir ein Abstiegsverfahren, bei welchem in jeder Iteration
    eine Abstiegsrichtung mittels einer numerischen Approximation des multikriteriellen
    Subdifferentials bestimmt wird. Im Kontext konvexer, stetig differenzierbarer
    Zielfunktionen mit Lipschitz-stetigen Gradienten, führen wir eine Familie von
    dynamischen Gradientensystemen mit Trägheitsterm ein, die bekannte kontinuierliche
    Systeme aus der skalaren Optimierung verallgemeinern. Wir stellen drei neue Systeme
    vor: eines mit konstanter Dämpfung, eines mit asymptotisch abnehmender Dämpfung
    und eines, das zusätzlich eine zeitabhängige Tikhonov-Regularisierung beinhaltet.
    Aufbauend auf den Untersuchungen der neuen dynamischen Gradientensysteme, entwickeln
    wir ein beschleunigtes Gradientenverfahren zur Mehrzieloptimierung, das auf einer
    Diskretisierung des multikriteriellen Gradientensystems mit asymptotisch abnehmender
    Dämpfung beruht. Das hergeleitete Verfahren bewahrt die günstigen Konvergenzeigenschaften
    des kontinuierlichen Systems und erreicht eine schnellere Konvergenz als klassische
    Verfahren.'

  text: 'This dissertation contributes to the field of multiobjective optimization,
    with a focus on unconstrained problems formulated in a general Hilbert space.
    For multiobjective optimization problems with locally Lipschitz continuous objective
    functions, we define a multiobjective subdifferential, which we analyze for the
    first time in the context of general Hilbert spaces. Building on these theoretical
    investigations, we present a descent method in which, at each iteration, a descent
    direction is determined via a numerical approximation of the multiobjective subdifferential.
    In the setting of convex, continuously differentiable objective functions with
    Lipschitz continuous gradients, we introduce a family of inertial gradient dynamical
    systems that generalize well-known continuous-time systems from scalar optimization.
    We present three novel systems: one with constant damping, one with asymptotic
    vanishing damping, and one combining vanishing damping with time-dependent Tikhonov
    regularization. Building on the investigation of the novel gradient dynamical
    systems, we develop an accelerated gradient method for multiobjective optimization
    via discretization of the multiobjective gradient system with asymptotic vanishing
    damping. The proposed method retains the favorable convergence properties of the
    continuous system while achieving faster convergence than standard approaches,
    such as classical methods.'

    manipulation of photonic spin–orbit coupling (SOC) in microcavities is of fundamental
    importance within topological photonics and applications. Anisotropic organic
    single‐crystalline materials can induce abundant SOC phenomenon due to their flexible
    tunability of molecular geometries, however, the intrinsic relationship between
    molecular geometries/orientations in 3D space and photonic SOC is lacking. In
    this study, we design two kinds of 2D organic polymorphs for the construction
    of organic microcavities to investigate the structure‐performance relationships.
    In two polymorphic microcavities, two distinctive photonic SOC phenomena are observed
    regardless of the in‐plane anisotropy of organic polymorphs. Theoretical analysis
    indicates that the photonic SOC strength is strongly influenced by the synergies
    between the crystal anisotropy and the tilted collective molecular transition
    dipole moment. Our results uncover the correlation mechanism between the structure
    of molecules and photonic SOC and open an avenue to engineer complex photonic
    SOC by use of organic microstructures towards the development of diverse integrated
    photonic devices.</jats:p>"
