text: "The carbon footprint of modern vehicles and their mechatronic systems is
more\r\nimportant than ever. Research by the publicly funded Nalyses project and
the HELLA\r\ncompany shows that the headlamps use phase makes a significant contribution
to the life\r\ncycle footprint taking into account the current electricity mix
[1]. Today, functionalities\r\nsuch as adaptive curve light or glare-free high
beam ensure comfort and safety by\r\nassessing the state of the vehicle and evaluating
the driving scenario ahead. In future,\r\nthis evaluation will be expanded and
used to adapt the headlamp to the driving scenario\r\nin such a way that as little
light as possible is emitted, but as much light as necessary. In\r\norder to achieve
this goal, an overall evaluation of the regulatory compliant energy\r\nsaving
potential is crucial in a first step and leads to constraints for a dynamic adaption\r\nwhile
driving. In this paper, the potential is illustrated by evaluating UNECE Regulation\r\nNo.
149 and optimizing luminous intensity distributions. Depending on the different\r\nresolutions
of matrix LED headlamps, this approach can result in a significantly lower\r\nluminous
flux. On the other hand, the results are point-like distributions that raise the\r\nquestion
of whether the regulation still provides for sensible minimum requirements for\r\nmodern
matrix LED headlamps. The results are further presented in a simulated virtual\r\nenvironment
with regard to the resulting luminance in different driving scenarios. We\r\nthen
present an approach to integrate regulatory requirements into a control algorithm
by\r\nsetting optimization constraints and saturating the control. Finally, we
classify the found\r\nluminous intensity distributions qualitatively according
to common lighting criteria. In summary, although the investigated minimum distributions
are by no means desirable\r\nfor drivers themselves, they form the basis on which
energy-saving distributions for\r\nilluminated areas and twilight scenarios could
be adaptively controlled in the future."

text: Decarbonizing industrial process heat is a crucial step in mitigating climate
change. While Process Mining (PM) has gained traction in sustainability research—such
as optimizing production scheduling to reduce energy use or accounting for carbon
footprints—it has largely overlooked the challenges and opportunities related
to thermal energy, accounting for 66% of total energy demand in industrial processes.
At the same time, Heat Integration (HI) is an established engineering discipline
focused on maximizing the efficiency of thermal energy systems. However, HI traditionally
relies on static or incomplete data about energy demands, limiting its effectiveness
and accuracy. In this paper, we propose a novel framework that combines PM and
HI to enable data-driven, process- and product-centric modeling of industrial
energy demands. By integrating event logs and thermal energy data, our approach
allows for a fine-grained analysis of heat demand patterns corresponding to specific
process activities and product variants. We demonstrate the applicability and
advantages of the framework by simulating a pharmaceutical manufacturing process
and evaluating energy demands and heat recovery potentials. Our findings show
that our PM-enabled HI framework provides more accurate and actionable insights
into the temporal and product-specific variation of thermal energy demands. By
capturing the causal relationships between process activities, product characteristics,
and energy consumption, our approach enables improved analysis, planning, and
optimization for heat recovery and process decarbonization. This integration of
PM and HI expands the analytical tools for both disciplines and contributes to
advancing the sustainable transformation of industrial processes.

  text:
Abstract. In the field of online condition monitoring, non-destructive
testing methods using active acoustic testing [1] emerged as innovative tools.
These techniques are particularly effective because damage in joined structures
leads to significant changes in their vibrational characteristics. However, the
consistent use of online condition monitoring through active acoustic testing
combined with complex pattern recognition for early crack detection in joined
components has not yet been fully established. This research aims to develop an
online crack detection system employing pattern recognition techniques under cyclic
loading during fatigue tests, utilizing non-contact active acoustic testing with
laser vibrometry. Due to the wide range of materials that can be joined, mechanical
joining processes can be used in many different industry branches. Self-pierce
riveting (SPR), in particular, is a well-established joining process. Therefore,
the investigations for online crack detection initially focus on SPR joints. To
achieve this, the fatigue behavior of SPR joints in a lap-shear configuration
was characterized. Experimental fatigue testing demonstrated that SPR joint failure
occurs either through cracks propagating in the sheet material away from the rivet
or in the rivet foot, depending on the material combination. Laser vibrometry
has been successfully used as a crack detection system and has proven to be effective
in detecting crack initiation in SPR joints. Cracks can be detected without contact
regardless of the material combination, the damage location, the size of the damage,
or the type of damage. The optimization of the crack detection system involved
several key enhancements, including adjusting data acquisition to improve crack
detection, incorporating principal component analysis (PCA) to reduce dimensionality,
and implementing a classification model based on a global training dataset. An
intuitive, problem-specific software demonstrator for analyzing the crack initiation
behavior of SPR joints under cyclic loading was developed and iteratively optimized.
Future work will focus on the implementation of an autoencoder network to further
    enhance crack detection capabilities.

bessere elektro- magnetische Eigenschaften bietet. Sie wurde bei einer Synchron-Reluktanzmaschine
(SynRM) getestet.

  text:
Driven by the urgent need for a green, safe, and cost‐effective approach
    to producing H2 and H2O2—both
highly valuable in green energy and environmental protection fields—piezocatalysis,
which converts mechanical energy into valuable chemicals, has emerged as a promising
solution. However, current catalyst systems face challenges due to the need for
materials with both a strong piezoelectric effect and favorable catalytic activity.
Herein, the construction of an oxidized carbon nitride (g‐C3N4)
matrix anchored with TiO2 nanoparticles via alkaline hydrothermal
treatment is reported. Under ultrasonication, the g‐C3N4/TiO2
composite exhibits optimal performance under carefully controlled alkaline hydrothermal
conditions. With a low concentration of Ba(OH)2 during hydrothermal
treatment, Ba(OH)2 provides an alkaline medium, oxidizing
    the g‐C3N4
species and introducing structural defects into the g‐C3N4
framework. The disruption of the g‐C3N4
matrix, along with its interaction with TiO2 nanoparticles,
enhances the piezoelectric effect. Consequently, the oxidized g‐C3N4/TiO2
composite achieves a remarkable H2 production rate of 4427.2 μmol g−1
and an H2O2 production rate of 809.3 μmol g−1
within 1 h without the addition of any sacrificial agents or cocatalysts. This
work presents an effective strategy for the structural optimization of g‐C3N4‐based
materials and may inspire new approaches for designing advanced piezocatalysts.

text: 'Technical systems are characterized by increasing interdisciplinarity, complexity
and networking. A product and its corresponding production systems require interdisciplinary
multi-objective optimization. Sustainability and recyclability demands increase
said complexity. The efficiency of previously established engineering methods
is reaching its limits, which can only be overcome by systematic integration of
extreme data. The aim of "hybrid decision support" is as follows: Data science
and artificial intelligence should be used to supplement human capabilities in
conjunction with existing heuristics, methods, modeling and simulation to increase
    the efficiency of product creation.'

text: 'To predict and prevent uneven tire wear in addition to a reduction of overall
tire wear, it is essential to estimate not only the total amount of wear but also
how the wear is distributed across the tire width. This requires knowledge of
the frictional power distribution in the tire contact patch, which is the basis
for calculating tire wear using a wear law. Usually, only 3D structural tire models
can generate such distributed contact results. However, they involve high computational
costs and cannot be used for comprehensive optimization of a vehicle’s suspension
system with respect to tire wear characteristics. Hence, this contribution presents
a methodology on how to accelerate the prediction of the frictional power distribution
using two components: The structural tire model is replaced by an empirical tire
model that on its own is not able to generate distributed contact results. Therefore,
an artificial neural network is trained to predict the desired contact results
from the kinematic quantities calculated by the empirical tire model. In the initial
training phase, both components are fitted to data generated by the original complex
tire model. After training, the empirical tire model can replace the structural
tire model in vehicle simulations, resulting in significantly shorter calculation
times. The simulation results are fed into the artificial neural network, which
predicts the frictional power distributions over the tire width with negligible
additional effort. Overall, the methodology reduces calculation time for the prediction
of tire wear based on virtual test drives to approximately 25% of the time needed
    when using structural tire models.'

(PCM) ausgestatteten, energietechnischen Komponenten anhand zweier Fallstudien.

text: This thesis explores the modeling and optimization of energy system components
incorporating phase change materials (PCM) through two different case studies.
PCM are materials whose phase change characteristics during melting and solidification
are utilized for heating and cooling purposes. The theoretical foundations of
heat transfer problems involving phase change, along with the relevant numerical
solution methods, are discussed. A phase change model is presented, which was
validated against analytical solutions and applied in the case studies. For both
case studies, a review of the state of the art is provided, followed by the formulation
of specific research problems. The first case study investigated PCM-enhanced
photovoltaic modules, while the second focused on packed bed latent heat storages
(PBLHS) utilizing non-spherical PCM capsules. Thermal models were developed for
both systems and validated with good accuracy against experimental data. These
models were employed in parameter studies to identify optimized system configurations.
The presented results demonstrate that a PCM heat sink with sufficient thickness
and thermal conductivity can significantly improve the efficiency and lifespan
of photovoltaic modules. Furthermore, PCM capsules with both high packing density
and surface area increase the volume-specific storage capacity and thermal power
    output of PBLHS.

  text:
