  text: 'Additive Fertigungsverfahren (engl.: Additive Manufacturing, kurz: AM) ermöglichen
    die werkzeuglose Herstellung von Komponenten und kompletten Baugruppen direkt
    aus dem 3D-CAD-Modell. Insbesondere additiv hergestellte Leichtbaukonstruktionen
    weisen ein hohes Potential für den Elektromaschinenbau auf. In diesem Paper werden
    erste Ansätze zur additiven Fertigung einer Rotorwelle für eine permanentmagneterregte
    Synchronmaschine (PMSM) aufgezeigt. Die Verbesserung einer ausgeprägten Leichtbaukonstruktion
    der Rotorwelle sowie die Charakterisierung des additiv verarbeiteten Werkstoffs
    werden aufgeführt. Hierzu wurden Prüfkörper aus dem Werkstoffs H13 (1.2344) hergestellt.
    Des Weiteren wurden Prüfkörper additiv gefertigter Gitterstrukturen entwickelt
    und untersucht. Zur Werkstoffcharakterisierung wurden sowohl mechanische Eigenschaften
    ermittelt, wie die Streckgrenze, die Zugfestigkeit und die Härte als auch elektromagnetische
    Eigenschaften, wie die Koerzitivfeldstärke, die elektrische Leitfähigkeit und
    die Permeabilität. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die magnetischen Eigenschaften
    von H13 durch eine angeschlossene Wärmebehandlung deutlich verbessert werden konnten.
    Im Anschluss an die Werkstoffcharakterisierung wurde ein innovatives Leichtbau-Rotorwellenkonzept
    mit internen Gitterstrukturen entwickelt. Verglichen mit einem konventionell gefertigten
    Rotor konnte die Rotormasse um 25% reduziert werden sowie das Massenträgheitsmoment
    um 23% reduziert werden bei einer Testdrehzahl von 3000 U/min und einem Drehmoment
    von 71,98 Nm.'

  text: Designing parts for additive manufacturing (AM) offers a broad range of geometrical
    and functional potentials. On the one hand the manufacturingtechnology offers
    the possibility of manufacturing highly complex freeform shapes, often referred
    to as bionic shapes. By use of these, perfect force fluxes without stress risings
    due to imperfect notches are realizable, getting the most value of used material.
    On the other hand these complex structures require a reliable geometry representation
    in compatible CAD-files. Conventional CAD systems were developed to generate geometries
    that are manufacturable with conventional machining. These are not capable of
    representing the high complex designs for AM. Especially for geometries generated
    by CAE like from topology optimization the conventional CAD systems fail to take
    advantage of the combination of CAE and AM. This paper explains why there is a
    lack of compatibility of well-known CAD systems with the potentials of AM. Therefore
    the AM-side of the problem is described by showing some potentials of AM and the
    need of high complex structures for this manufacturing technology. For the other
    side of the problem conventional methodologies for geometry representation of
    CAD systems are described and their limitations with regard to AM are worked out.
    Finally a voxel based geometry representation is presented as a solution for computer
    aided geometry generation of high complex AM–structures.

  text: Even in times where additive manufacturing has a peak in media and industry
    interest, only few companies have already implemented this technology. Many companies
    struggle with the use of AM even if they have already identified the benefits
    of this technology for their business. Additional knowledge along the whole product
    development chain is necessary to succeed in implementing this technology. As
    all other production technologies, AM has certain strength and weaknesses which
    affect the suitable part candidates. Redesign or manufacturing approaches of unsuited
    part candidates are no very likely to be successful. In general, aspects like
    design rules need to be known along the product development process in order to
    achieve technology-based benefits during production and post-processing resulting
    in economic success. This paper will present a holistic approach which will assist
    the designer during product development and manufacturing based on an example
    part from the space industry. Then methodology starts with an appropriate part
    selection as a key parameter for the product development process. Based on the
    promising part candidates, deductions for the further product development process
    will be described. This includes approaches for functional integration as well
    as a methodology for the compilation of part requirements. Those are utilized
    for a black box methodology, ensuring a time-efficient redesign based on FEA optimization
    and design rules for additive manufacturing. Best practices for integrating (or
    in the best case avoiding) traditional technologies are discussed. Based on this,
    the development of industrialization and test and verification plans for production
    are shown. This includes the marking of parts for traceability during the whole
    product lifecycle for quality reasons as well as for product protection. Furthermore,
    production and production planning are discussed. This is followed by post-processing
    and testing procedures of the part. The paper will close with a detailed economic
    view on the topic and some deductions regarding the changes in the supply chain.
    The methodology itself is discussed and explained on a real sample metal part.
    The general methodology is discussed on the basis of the space industry but is
    subject to be adapted to other industries.

    services as a fixed chain of functions. We define the service structure in a flexible
    way that enables changing the order of functions in case the functionality of
    the service is not influenced by this, and propose a YANG data model for expressing
    this flexibility. Flexible structures allow the network orchestration system to
    choose the optimal composition of service components that for example gives the
    best results for placement of services in the network. When number of flexible
    services and number of components in each service increase, combinatorial explosion
    limits the practical use of this flexibility. In this paper, we describe a selection
    heuristic that gives a Pareto set of the possible compositions of a service as
    well as possible combinations of different services, with respect to different
    optimization objectives. Moreover, we present a heuristic algorithm for placement
    of a combination of services, which aims at placing service components along shortest
    paths that have enough capacity for accommodating the services. By applying these
    solutions, we show that allowing flexibility in the service structure is feasible.

  text: During the last years, alternative drive technologies, for example electrically
    powered vehicles (EV), have gained more and more attention, mainly caused by an
    increasing awareness of the impact of CO2 emissions on climate change and by the
    limitation of fossil fuels. However, these technologies currently come with new
    challenges due to limited lithium ion battery storage density and high battery
    costs which lead to a considerably reduced range in comparison to conventional
    internal combustion engine powered vehicles. For this reason, it is desirable
    to increase the vehicle range without enlarging the battery. When the route and
    the road slope are known in advance, it is possible to vary the vehicles velocity
    within certain limits in order to reduce the overall drivetrain energy consumption.
    This may either result in an increased range or, alternatively, in larger energy
    reserves for comfort functions such as air conditioning. In this presentation,
    we formulate the challenge of range extension as a multiobjective optimal control
    problem. We then apply different numerical methods to calculate the so-called
    Pareto set of optimal compromises for the drivetrain power profile with respect
    to the two concurrent objectives battery state of charge and mean velocity. In
    order to numerically solve the optimal control problem by means of a direct method,
    a time discretization of the drivetrain power profile is necessary. In combination
    with a vehicle dynamics simulation model, the optimal control problem is transformed
    into a high dimensional nonlinear optimization problem. For the approximation
    of the Pareto set, two different optimization algorithms implemented in the software
    package GAIO are used. The first one yields a global optimal solution by applying
    a set-oriented subdivision technique to parameter space. By construction, this
    technique is limited to coarse discretizations of the drivetrain power profile.
    In contrast, the second technique, which is based on an image space continuation
    method, is more suitable when the number of parameters is large while the number
    of objectives is less than five. We compare the solutions of the two algorithms
    and study the influence of different discretizations on the quality of the solutions.
    A MATLAB/Simulink model is used to describe the dynamics of an EV. It is based
    on a drivetrain efficiency map and considers vehicle properties such as rolling
    friction and air drag, as well as environmental conditions like slope and ambient
    temperature. The vehicle model takes into account the traction battery too, enabling
    an exact prediction of the batterys response to power requests of drivetrain and
    auxiliary loads, including state of charge.

  text: Management of complex network services requires flexible and efficient service
    provisioning as well as optimized handling of continuous changes in the workload
    of the service.To adapt to changes in the demand, service components need to be
    replicated (scaling) and allocated to physical resources (placement) dynamically.
    In this paper, we propose a fullyautomated approach to the joint optimization
    problem of scaling and placement, enabling quick reaction to changes. We formalize
    the problem, analyze its complexity, and develop two algorithms to solve it. Extensive
    empirical results show the applicability andeffectiveness of the proposed approach.

    multiobjective optimization problems with uncertainties. To this end, an additional
    condition is derived for the descent direction in order to account for inaccuracies
    in the gradients and then incorporated into a subdivision algorithm for the computation
    of global solutions to multiobjective optimization problems. Convergence to a
    superset of the Pareto set is proved and an upper bound for the maximal distance
    to the set of substationary points is given. Besides the applicability to problems
    with uncertainties, the algorithm is developed with the intention to use it in
    combination with model order reduction techniques in order to efficiently solve
    PDE-constrained multiobjective optimization problems.

  text: 'In order to improve the credibility of modern simulation tools, uncertainties
    of different kinds have to be considered. This work is focused on epistemic uncertainties
    in the framework of continuum mechanics, which are taken into account by fuzzy
    analysis. The underlying min-max optimization problem of the extension principle
    is approximated by α-discretization, resulting in a separation of minimum and
    maximum problems. To become more universal, so-called quantities of interest are
    employed, which allow a general formulation for the target problem of interest.
    In this way, the relation to parameter identification problems based on least-squares
    functions is highlighted. The solutions of the related optimization problems with
    simple constraints are obtained with a gradient-based scheme, which is derived
    from a sensitvity analysis for the target problem by means of a variational formulation.
    Two numerical examples for the fuzzy analysis of material parameters are concerned
    with a necking problem at large strain elastoplasticity and a perforated strip
    at large strain hyperelasticity to demonstrate the versatility of the proposed
    variational formulation. '

  text: State-of-the-art mechatronic systems offer inherent intelligence that enables
    them to autonomously adapt their behavior to current environmental conditions
    and to their own system state. This autonomous behavior adaptation is made possible
    by software in combination with complex sensor and actuator systems and by sophisticated
    information processing, all of which make these systems increasingly complex.
    This increasing complexity makes the design process a challenging task and brings
    new complex possibilities for operation and maintenance. However, with the risk
    of increased system complexity also comes the chance to adapt system behavior
    based on current reliability, which in turn increases reliability. The development
    of such an adaption strategy requires appropriate methods to evaluate reliability
    based on currently selected system behavior. A common approach to implement such
    adaptivity is to base system behavior on different working points that are obtained
    using multiobjective optimization. During operation, selection among these allows
    a changed operating strategy. To allow for multiobjective optimization, an accurate
    system model including system reliability is required. This model is repeatedly
    evaluated by the optimization algorithm. At present, modeling of system reliability
    and synchronization of the models of behavior and reliability is a laborious manual
    task and thus very error-prone. Since system behavior is crucial for system reliability,
    an integrated model is introduced that integrates system behavior and system reliability.
    The proposed approach is used to formulate reliability-related objective functions
    for a clutch test rig that are used to compute feasible working points using multiobjective
    optimization.

  text: Heterogeneous compute nodes in form of CPUs with attached GPU and FPGA accelerators
    have strongly gained interested in the last years. Applications differ in their
    execution characteristics and can therefore benefit from such heterogeneous resources
    in terms of performance or energy consumption. While performance optimization
    has been the only goal for a long time, nowadays research is more and more focusing
    on techniques to minimize energy consumption due to rising electricity costs.This
    paper presents reMinMin, a novel static list scheduling approach for optimizing
    the total energy consumption for a set of tasks executed on a heterogeneous compute
    node. reMinMin bases on a new energy model that differentiates between static
    and dynamic energy components and covers effects of accelerator tasks on the host
    CPU. The required energy values are retrieved by measurements on the real computing
    system. In order to evaluate reMinMin, we compare it with two reference implementations
    on three task sets with different degrees of heterogeneity. In our experiments,
    MinMin is consistently better than a scheduler optimizing for dynamic energy only,
    which requires up to 19.43% more energy, and very close to optimal schedules.

  text: "Multiobjective optimization plays an increasingly important role in modern
    applications, where several criteria are often of equal importance. The task in
    multiobjective optimization and multiobjective optimal control is therefore to
    compute\r\nthe set of optimal compromises (the Pareto set) between the conflicting
    objectives.\r\n\r\nSince – in contrast to the solution of a single objective optimization
    problem – the\r\nPareto set generally consists of an infinite number of solutions,
    the computational\r\neffort can quickly become challenging. This is even more
    the case when many problems have to be solved, when the number of objectives is
    high, or when the objectives\r\nare costly to evaluate. Consequently, this thesis
    is devoted to the identification and\r\nexploitation of structure both in the
    Pareto set and the dynamics of the underlying\r\nmodel as well as to the development
    of efficient algorithms for solving problems with\r\nadditional parameters, with
    a high number of objectives or with PDE-constraints.\r\nThese three challenges
    are addressed in three respective parts.\r\n\r\nIn the first part, predictor-corrector
    methods are extended to entire Pareto sets.\r\nWhen certain smoothness assumptions
    are satisfied, then the set of parameter dependent Pareto sets possesses additional
    structure, i.e. it is a manifold. The tangent\r\nspace can be approximated numerically
    which yields a direction for the predictor\r\nstep. In the corrector step, the
    predicted set converges to the Pareto set at a new\r\nparameter value. The resulting
    algorithm is applied to an example from autonomous\r\ndriving.\r\n\r\nIn the second
    part, the hierarchical structure of Pareto sets is investigated. When\r\nconsidering
    a subset of the objectives, the resulting solution is a subset of the Pareto\r\nset
    of the original problem. Under additional smoothness assumptions, the respective
    subsets are located on the boundary of the Pareto set of the full problem. This\r\nway,
    the “skeleton” of a Pareto set can be computed and due to the exponential\r\nincrease
    in computing time with the number of objectives, the computations of\r\nthese
    subsets are significantly faster which is demonstrated using an example from\r\nindustrial
    laundries.\r\n\r\nIn the third part, PDE-constrained multiobjective optimal control
    problems are\r\naddressed by reduced order modeling methods. Reduced order models
    exploit the\r\nstructure in the system dynamics, for example by describing the
    dynamics of only the\r\nmost energetic modes. The model reduction introduces an
    error in both the function values and their gradients, which has to be taken into
    account in the development of\r\nalgorithms. Both scalarization and set-oriented
    approaches are coupled with reduced\r\norder modeling. Convergence results are
    presented and the numerical benefit is\r\ninvestigated. The algorithms are applied
    to semi-linear heat flow problems as well\r\nas to the Navier-Stokes equations.\r\n"
