To tackle this challenge, on the one hand, modifying the powertrain system is a possibility, and on the\r\nother hand, lightweight design offers various possibilities. Multi-Material Design (MMD) involves designing car\r\nbodies that combine different materials that require joining. Given the variety of materials, mechanical joining\r\nprocesses are preferred. Especially the current development of the Giga/Mega-casting process concerning\r\naluminium casting and the subsequent mechanical joining illustrates the challenges of this material group. In car\r\nproduction, aluminium castings are mainly made from aluminium-silicon (AlSi) alloys. Ultimately, the alloy\r\nsystem's insufficient ductility leads to crack initiation during mechanical joining. Cast parts are therefore often\r\nused in areas of the car body that are exposed to high-pressure loads. For example, self-piercing riveting (SPR) is\r\nused due to its high load-bearing capacity. In this study, improved joinability is demonstrated by influencing the\r\nmicrostructure through tailored solidification rates and a developed heat-treatment chain strategy adapted for\r\nhypoeutectic AlSi systems. Data on microstructure, mechanical, and joining properties are used to develop a\r\nsolidification-joining correlation for the SPR process across a range of Si contents and solidification rates. Systems theory offers powerful concepts to address challenges of growing system complexity and non-systemic design approaches in information systems. Despite its systemic origins, systems theory remains a peripheral topic in IS. The study addresses this gap by introducing a comprehensive framework of 52 systems-theoretical concepts to guide the design of complex IS artifacts. We synthesize scattered systems knowledge from diverse disciplines to provide a unified level of abstraction for complex information system design. We apply the framework to a use case of business reputation systems to show how the systems lens informs the design of a novel, complex information system. We make three key contributions to the literature. First, the framework provides a common ground for interdisciplinary research in information system design. Second, it offers a unified level of abstraction grounded in systems theory that serves as a coherent basis for artifact design. Third, it demonstrates the potential of systems theory as a foundational justificatory knowledge base. Furthermore, we provide guidance on applying the framework across multiple modes of reasoning, alongside further application guidelines. Cli-ents who have not worked with a particular consultancy face considerable risk when they place an order while lacking reliable information about the service quality they can expect. There is a strong link between trust and reputation, as the positive reputation of a consultancy can act as a substitute for a new client’s missing individual experience with the provider, fostering trust in the service quali-ty. Thus, creating, maintaining, and demonstrating a good reputation is of signifi-cant importance for consultancies in a very competitive industry.\r\nTo facilitate trustworthy signals, we design and implement a novel reputation mechanism that carries a monetary weight stored on a blockchain network as an immutable, decentralized, and transparent ledger. Based on an implementation in the Ethereum network and subsequent evaluation, we conclude that the reputation mechanism can contribute to leveling information asymmetry and reducing risk while increasing reputation and trust. Nearly two decades ago, the service system concept was introduced as a foundational abstraction in service research, drawing on ideas from the service-dominant logic (S-D logic) of marketing. Despite its widespread adoption in service research, particularly in the IS discipline, the service system concept lacks a solid theoretical foundation. This has resulted in conceptual ambiguity and overlap with related constructs, such as service ecosystems. Moreover, it has largely remained a static analytical lens, insufficiently capturing dynamic service phenomena, including value co-creation and co-destruction, as well as the emergence of institutional arrangements. To address these limitations, we propose Luhmann’s systems theory (LST) as a robust framework for conceptualizing service systems as autopoietic (self-creating) systems, in which communication serves as the fundamental mechanism that drives value co-creation. We derive five theoretical propositions from this re-conceptualization that clarify conceptual ambiguity and allow researchers to explore dynamic service phenomena in greater depth. Private households are central to this transition, combining dynamic consumption with decentralised generation. This paper presents a multi-agent microgrid simulation built on the Mesa framework, focusing on the heterogeneous objectives and technological capabilities of residential participants. Households are modelled as autonomous agents with individual strategies, while a dedicated “grid agent” represents the distribution system operator and regulates the microgrid in a grid-supportive manner. The emission factor serves as the key indicator for grid-friendly behaviour. Results show that in summer, unmanaged PV feed-in from heterogeneous households causes substantial grid stress and balancing effort for the distribution system operator. Dynamic electricity prices can incentivise grid-friendly dispatch, but their effectiveness depends on the correlation between price signals and renewable availability and cannot guarantee grid-supportive behaviour alone. The grid agent reliably improves the grid-supportive coefficient, yet its operating strategy, for instance additional peak-reduction objectives, can interfere with price-based incentives. Effective demand-side management therefore requires careful analysis of stakeholder interactions. Building on this insight, thepaper provides a basic framework for the design, implementation, and assessment of both integrated and individual energy management strategies within a microgrid environment. This\r\nalloy system has excellent casting properties accompanied by acceptable mechanical properties. Due to\r\nthe high silicon (Si) content, which almost completely prevents volume contraction during the liquid-solid\r\nphase transition, AlSi alloys tend to form finer or coarser Si plates at different solidification rates. To\r\nimprove the mechanical properties, either sodium (Na) or strontium (Sr) is added to the alloy system in\r\nthe melting phase. This results in the formation of a fine lamellar Si morphology during solidification, which\r\ncan also be achieved by high solidification rates. Subsequent solution annealing causes spheroidisation\r\nof the Si particles and increases ductility. Currently, there is a lack in scientific knowledge regarding the\r\nSi-morphology as a function of solidification rate or as a result of heat treatment. Such systemsare essential for businesses seeking trustworthy partners, as they help reduce infor-mation asymmetry, lower buyers’ transaction risks, and allow high-quality serviceproviders to justify premium pricing. Unlike traditional review-based systems in thebusiness-to-consumer (B2C) context, we propose a B2B reputation mechanism inwhich buyers commit to a rating payment before a transaction. Once the buyer final-izes the rating, this payment is executed and recorded on a blockchain as an immu-table, secure ledger. Our system mimics natural trust-building mechanisms with rat-ings that are (1) monetary-based, (2) stake-based, (3) non-aggregated, (4) involvecounter-ratings, (5) selectively sellable, (6) individually comparable, (7) stored ona blockchain, (8) and monitored by a third instance. This system provides a novelapproach to fostering trust in B2B transactions by reducing information asymme-try and transaction risk. We illustrate the mechanism’s application in the consultingsector. Our analysis has identified 23 institutional trust and distrust dimensions thatpromote establishing institutional trust through the proposed mechanism. Qualita-tive interviews suggest that, while complex and challenging to apply, this mecha-nism can foster trust in B2B transactions. Specifically, the dynamics is described by a second order ODE containing an affine control term. Classically, Pontryagin's maximum principle gives necessary optimality conditions for the optimal control problem. For smooth problems, alternatively, a variational approach based on an augmented objective can be followed. Here, we propose a new Lagrangian approach leading to equivalent necessary optimality conditions in the form of Euler-Lagrange equations. Thus, the differential geometric structure (similar to classical Lagrangian dynamics) can be exploited in the framework of optimal control problems. Die entwickelte mehrstufige Lichtsignalanlagenregelung nutzt ein Fuzzy-System zur Phasenvorauswahl, um anschließend über eine modellprädiktive Regelung das nichtlineare Problem mit dem Ergebnis der optimalen Kombinationen von Phasen und Schaltzeitpunkten zu lösen. Das Regelungssystem wird in dieser Arbeit anhand eines ausgewählten Verkehrsgebiets zunächst rein simulativ getestet und mit dem vorliegenden Bestandsverfahren verglichen. Im Anschluss an die prototypische Inbetriebnahme wird dieser Vergleich durch die Feldtests abgeschlossen. Even in Model-Based Systems Engineering, there is a lack of systematic support that results in avoidable costs and iterations in the engineering process. Planning test cases and test scenarios along the product engineering process is not sufficiently integrated in terms of support especially for verification and validation engineers. Based on a systematic literature review, concepts for model-based planning of testing are developed. Characteristics of test cases and test scenarios of CPS are systematically identified. Generic templates for the creation of test cases and scenarios are derived. Based on the templates, a System Modeling Language (SysML) profile extension is developed which enables intuitive modelling of test cases and scenarios. The SysML profile is evaluated in a sample System-of-Systems in Disaster Response. It subsumes various types of sensor systems like rescue robotics, data science algorithms and visualization technologies like Augmented Reality to support decisions in extreme weather events. In these ecosystems, agents can selectively exchange (monetary) ratings to in-form about the experienced quality in a market. We build a model for conducting a multi-agent simulation that can be used to simulate and evaluate business rep-utation ecosystems as a new system class. We explore the factual occurring vol-untary payment to create positive (pay) or negative ratings (no pay), selling rat-ings selectively to alleviate information asymmetry, and the workings of counter-ratings to prevent buyers' dishonest ratings. Thereby, we analyze, among others, agent profitability, the occurrence of dishonest ratings, and reputation bias and sensitivity. The results provide simulation-based empirical evidence that the con-cept of monetary reputation systems provides necessary incentives for participa-tion, and high-quality sellers and honest buyers benefit from such a system. The production of lightweight materials is usually associated with an increase in energy demand, so the environmental impacts of lightweight structures need to be assessed holistically using a life cycle assessment. To estimate the life cycle environmental impacts of a product in its developmental stage, for example, by life cycle engineering, future changes in relevant influencing factors must be considered. Prospective life cycle assessment provides methods for integrating future scenarios into life cycle assessment studies. However, approaches for integrating prospective life cycle assessment into product development are limited. The objective of this work is to provide the methodological foundation for integrating future scenarios of relevant influencing factors in the development of lightweight structures. The applicability of the novel methodology is demonstrated by a case study of a structural component in a steel, aluminium, and hybrid design. The results show that appropriate decarbonisation measures can reduce the life cycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 95 percent until 2050. We also found that shifts in the environmentally optimal design are possible in future scenarios. These spectra result from a simulated near-field measurement of electric field strengths at different locations. Measured values consist of real and imaginary parts (amplitude and phase) in X, Y and Z directions. Training data was obtained in the time domain by varying transmission line geometries (size, distance and signaling). It was then transformed into the frequency domain and used as deep neural network input. Principal component analysis was applied to reduce the sample dimension. The results show that classifying different designs is possible with high accuracy based on synthetic data. Future work comprises measurements of real, custom-made PCB with varying parameters to adapt the simulation model and also test the neural network.
