  abstract     = {{We study the effect of education on vaccination against COVID-19 and influenza in Germany and Europe. Our identification strategy makes use of changes in compulsory schooling laws and allows to estimate local average treatment effects for individuals between 59 and 91 years of age. We find no significant effect of an additional year of schooling on vaccination status in Germany. Pooling data from Europe, we conclude that schooling increases the likelihood to vaccinate against COVID by an economically negligible effect of one percentage point (zero for influenza). However, we find indications that additional schooling increases fear of side effects from COVID vaccination.}},

  abstract     = {{Kaum bekannt ist, dass die Brüder Jacob Grimm (1785–1883) und Wilhelm Grimm 1786–1859) schon seit frühester Kindheit intensiv gezeichnet haben. Der Band widmet sich ihren bisher unerforschten Kinder- und Jugendzeichnungen sowie denen ihrer Geschwister Carl, Charlotte, Ludwig Emil Grimm und deren Nachkommen. Es handelt sich um Skizzenbücher, Zeichenblätter und kleine Aquarelle, unter denen sich auch außergewöhnliche Naturstudien befinden. Einzelstudien machen diese bisher kaum erschlossenen Dokumente bürgerlicher Kinder- und Jugendkultur aus der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts in ihren Zusammenhängen zugänglich und erschließen zugleich die Archivbestände der Grimm-Sammlung der Stadt Kassel.

  abstract     = {{One of the most powerful events in the still young 21st century is certainly the outbreak of the coronavirus and the following COVID-19 pandemic. Massive economic as well as social distress caused worldwide devastation. In Germany, not only stores, factories, cultural facilities were closed, but also – for the first time in history – schools were closed nationwide. Closed working sites and vocational schools, as well as working sites, which remained open due to their systemic relevance, led to so far unknown challenges in Germany’s vocational education system. A very good example are the dual apprenticeships, such as trained retail salesman, which were only partially affected by closures. The main goal of education policy was to compensate personal communication and interaction via digital media. This article’s main aim is to reveal the strategies vocational schools have developed to overcome the challenges they had to face because of the pandemic.}},

  abstract     = {{The containment of COVID-19 critically hinges on individuals’ behavior. We investigate how individuals react to variations in COVID-19 reporting. Using a survey, we elicit individuals' perceived infection risk given various COVID-19 metrics (e.g., confirmed cases, reproduction rate, or case-fatality ratio). We proxy individuals' risk perception with their willingness to pay for the participation in everyday life and amusements events. We find that participants react to different COVID-19 metrics with varying sensitivity. We observe a saturation of sensitivity for several measures at critical limits used in the political discussion, making our results highly relevant for policy makers in their efforts to direct individuals to adhere to hygienic etiquette and social distancing guidelines.}},
