text: Despite the rapid growth and potential of technology-based services, managers'
greatest challenges are gaining customer acceptance and increasing usage of these
new innovative services. In the B2C field, studies of self-service technology
show that perceived risk is an important factor influencing the use of service
technology. Though prior research explores different risk types that emerge in
consumer settings, risk perception in the B2B setting lacks a detailed examination
of different risk types influencing technology-based service adoption. Data from
49 qualitative interviews with providers and customers in two different B2B industries
inform this study. The findings emphasize the importance of functional and financial
risks in a B2B context and show that business customers' personal and psychological
fears hinder their use of technology-based services. Results highlight differences
in risk perception and evaluation between customers and providers.

text: 'Despite the growing literature on loyalty program (LP) research, many questions
remain underexplored. Driven by advancements in information technology, marketing
analytics, and consumer interface platforms (e.g., mobile devices), there have
been many recent developments in LP practices around the world. They impose new
challenges and create exciting opportunities for future LP research. The main
objective of this paper is to identify missing links in the literature and to
craft a future research agenda to advance LP research and practice. Our discussion
focuses on three key areas: (1) LP designs, (2) Assessment of LP performance,
and (3) Emerging trends and the impact of new technologies. We highlight several
gaps in the literature and outline research opportunities in each area.'

text: The protection of information technology (IT) has become and is predicted
to remain a key economic challenge for organizations. While research on IT security
investment is fast growing, it lacks a theoretical basis for structuring research,
explaining economic-technological phenomena and guide future research. We address
this shortcoming by suggesting a new theoretical model emerging from a multi-theoretical
perspective adopt-ing the Resource-Based View and the Organizational Learning
Theory. The joint appli-cation of these theories allows to conceptualize in one
theoretical model the organiza-tional learning effects that occur when the protection
of organizational resources through IT security countermeasures develops over
time. We use this model of IT security invest-ments to synthesize findings of
a large body of literature and to derive research gaps. We also discuss managerial
implications of (closing) these gaps by providing practical ex-amples.

text: Literature reviews play an important role in the development of knowledge.
Yet, we observe a lack of theoretical underpinning of and epistemological insights
into how literature reviews can contribute to knowledge creation and have actually
contributed in the IS discipline. To address these theoretical and empirical research
gaps, we suggest a novel epistemological model of literature reviews. This model
allows us to align different contributions of literature reviews with their underlying
knowledge conversions - thereby building a bridge between the previously largely
unconnected fields of literature reviews and epistemology. We evaluate the appropriateness
of the model by conducting an empirical analysis of 173 IS literature reviews
which were published in 39 pertinent IS journals between 2000 and 2014. Based
on this analysis, we derive an epistemological taxonomy of IS literature reviews,
    which complements previously suggested typologies.

text: 'The majority of algorithms can be controlled or adjusted by parameters. Their
values can substantially affect the algorithms’ performance. Since the manual
exploration of the parameter space is tedious – even for few parameters – several
automatic procedures for parameter tuning have been proposed. Recent approaches
also take into account some characteristic properties of the problem instances,
frequently termed instance features. Our contribution is the proposal of a novel
concept for feature-based algorithm parameter tuning, which applies an approximating
surrogate model for learning the continuous feature-parameter mapping. To accomplish
this, we learn a joint model of the algorithm performance based on both the algorithm
parameters and the instance features. The required data is gathered using a recently
proposed acquisition function for model refinement in surrogate-based optimization:
the profile expected improvement. This function provides an avenue for maximizing
the information required for the feature-parameter mapping, i.e., the mapping
from instance features to the corresponding optimal algorithm parameters. The
approach is validated by applying the tuner to exemplary evolutionary algorithms
and problems, for which theoretically grounded or heuristically determined feature-parameter
    mappings are available.'

text: Natural disasters, including earthquakes, Tsunamis, floods, hurricanes, and
volcanic eruptions, have caused tremendous harm and continue to threaten millions
of humans and various infrastructure capabilities each year. In their efforts
to take countermeasures against the threats posed by future natural disasters,
the United Nations formulated the ?Hyogo Framework for Action?, which aims at
assessing and reducing risk. This framework and a global review of disaster reduction
initiatives of the United Nations acknowledge the need for information systems
research contributions in addressing major challenges of natural disaster management.
In this paper, we provide a review of the literature with regard to how information
systems research has addressed risk assessment and reduction in natural disaster
management. Based on the review we identify research gaps that are centered around
the need for acquiring general knowledge on how to design IS artifacts for risk
assessment and reduction. In order to close these gaps in further research, we
develop a research agenda that follows the IS design science paradigm.

text: 'In this contribution we present a theoretical and experimental investigation
into the effects of reverberation and noise on features in the logarithmic mel
power spectral domain, an intermediate stage in the computation of the mel frequency
cepstral coefficients, prevalent in automatic speech recognition (ASR). Gaining
insight into the complex interaction between clean speech, noise, and noisy reverberant
speech features is essential for any ASR system to be robust against noise and
reverberation present in distant microphone input signals. The findings are gathered
in a probabilistic formulation of an observation model which may be used in model-based
feature compensation schemes. The proposed observation model extends previous
models in three major directions: First, the contribution of additive background
noise to the observation error is explicitly taken into account. Second, an energy
compensation constant is introduced which ensures an unbiased estimate of the
reverberant speech features, and, third, a recursive variant of the observation
model is developed resulting in reduced computational complexity when used in
model-based feature compensation. The experimental section is used to evaluate
the accuracy of the model and to describe how its parameters can be determined
    from test data.'

    Forschungsprozesses sicherzustellen.

text: The ever-increasing complexity of heterogeneous electronic systems demand
for intensified abstraction and automation efforts to improve design, verification
and validation productivity, especially in earlier phases of system engineering.
Within the verification activity various metrics can be applied to determine functional
correctness or the overall progress. Here, a supporting verification methodology
defining high-level verification planning down to the actual metric code development
is essential. Moreover, an advanced assistance for the designer, such as a tooling
infrastructure to automatize and accelerate the metric code implementation, is
needed to minimize the influence of errorprone manual coding. In this article
we present a single-source verification metric code-generation methodology for
improved coverage automation. We determine (i) a suitable metric model for model-based
capture of verification metrics as well as (ii) an assisted model-based processing
and generation flow of the verification environment and metric skeletons. We apply
our method to a SystemC case-study, in doing so, targeting metric code implementation
    productivity and consistency enhancement.

operating in lockstep mode, memories, hierarchical buses, and a rich set of peripherals.
For SoC prototyping, we integrate the fast and open instruction accurate QEMU

text: "The aim of this qualitative study is first to investigate the attitude development
of students in their initial year at university. College effectiveness research
has shown that attitudes towards studying as well as to one's university are key
factors influencing student engagement. Up to now, little is known about the processes
through which such attitudes develop. Based on the theory of planned behaviour
(Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980), the study addresses this research gap in three parts:
    a) development paths of students' attitudes towards studying and the university;
    b) the normative behaviour of the fellow students as well as significant persons,
    c) university-related experiences during the first year influencing students'
attitude development. \r\nTo answer these research questions, a series of five
interviews was conducted throughout the first year with a total of 13 first-year
students at the University of St. Gallen/Switzerland. Data analysis was performed
referring to the procedures suggested by Neale (2012) for qualitative longitudinal
data. To master the challenge of displaying developments over time, graphical
analysis was used to construct a case history (cf. Henderson, Holland et al.,
2012) for each individual. Regarding the students' developments over time, the
analysis shows the participants' attitudes towards the university became more
differentiated over time. A second major result concerns frictions between students'
own attitudes and what they perceive to be the dominant normative behaviour. It
became obvious that this developmental process is influenced by concrete incidents
students experience during the first year and thus, can be shaped by structural
    changes."

text: In this contribution we derive the Maximum A-Posteriori (MAP) estimates of
the parameters of a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) in the presence of noisy observations.
We assume the distortion to be white Gaussian noise of known mean and variance.
An approximate conjugate prior of the GMM parameters is derived allowing for a
computationally efficient implementation in a sequential estimation framework.
Simulations on artificially generated data demonstrate the superiority of the
proposed method compared to the Maximum Likelihood technique and to the ordinary
MAP approach, whose estimates are corrected by the known statistics of the distortion
    in a straightforward manner.

text: In this contribution we extend a previously proposed Bayesian approach for
the enhancement of reverberant logarithmic mel power spectral coefficients for
robust automatic speech recognition to the additional compensation of background
noise. A recently proposed observation model is employed whose time-variant observation
error statistics are obtained as a side product of the inference of the a posteriori
probability density function of the clean speech feature vectors. Further a reduction
of the computational effort and the memory requirements are achieved by using
a recursive formulation of the observation model. The performance of the proposed
algorithms is first experimentally studied on a connected digits recognition task
with artificially created noisy reverberant data. It is shown that the use of
the time-variant observation error model leads to a significant error rate reduction
at low signal-to-noise ratios compared to a time-invariant model. Further experiments
were conducted on a 5000 word task recorded in a reverberant and noisy environment.
A significant word error rate reduction was obtained demonstrating the effectiveness
of the approach on real-world data.
