For example, property damage to shared accommodations imposes burdens on both sharing platforms and hosts, especially if misbehaving guests purposefully, not coincidentally conceal, or fail to report damages. Such misbehavior might be facilitated by remote listing management and the lack of face-to-face interactions between hosts and guests. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of host–guest interaction modes (face-to-face, online-only) and frequency on guests’ misbehavior concealment intentions. Social identification and irritation emerged as bright- and dark side mediators, respectively. Guests who interacted face-to-face (vs. online-only) with hosts exhibited weaker intentions to conceal their misbehavior due to increased social identification. Platforms can elicit social identification by engaging guests in virtual communities. However, when face-to-face interactions become excessive, guests experience irritation and are more likely to conceal their misbehavior. These insights offer practical implications for both peer-to-peer sharing platforms and hosts.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2024-04-04T08:16:27Z","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Sharing economy","Customer misbehavior","Peer-to-peer services","Face-to-face interactions","Experimental research"],"status":"public","publisher":"Elsevier BV","_id":"53200","user_id":"103813","volume":177,"citation":{"chicago":"Ozuna, Edna, and Lena Steinhoff. “‘Look Me in the Eye, Customer’: How Do Face-to-Face Interactions in Peer-to-Peer Sharing Economy Services Affect Customers’ Misbehavior Concealment Intentions?” Journal of Business Research 177 (2024). https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jbusres.2024.114582.","short":"E. Recent advances in artificial-intelligence based attacks show that the level of security provided by many state-of-the-art text-based CAPTCHAs is declining. At the same time, techniques for distorting and obscuring the text, which are used to maintain the level of security, make text-based CAPTCHAs diffcult to solve for humans, and thereby further degrade usability. The need for developing alternative types of CAPTCHAs which improve both, the current security and usability levels, has been emphasized by several researchers. With this study, we contribute to research through (1) the development of two new face recognition CAPTCHAs (Farett-Gender and Farett-Gender&Age), (2) the security analysis of both procedures, and (3) the provision of empirical evidence that one of the suggested CAPTCHAs (Farett-Gender) is similar to Google's reCAPTCHA and better than KCAPTCHA concerning effectiveness (error rates), superior to both regarding learnability and satisfaction but not effciency.","lang":"eng"}],"extern":"1","date_created":"2018-11-14T14:00:47Z","file":[{"file_id":"6029","content_type":"application/pdf","relation":"main_file","date_updated":"2018-12-13T15:07:36Z","file_name":"cose_991_final.pdf","access_level":"open_access","file_size":2983143,"date_created":"2018-12-07T11:38:19Z","creator":"hsiemes"}],"department":[{"_id":"277"}],"keyword":["CAPTCHA","Usability","Facial features","Gender classiffcation","Age classification","Face recognition reverse Turing test"],"type":"journal_article","status":"public","has_accepted_license":"1","_id":"5617","publisher":"Elsevier","page":"95-116","volume":60,"ddc":["000"],"user_id":"61579","citation":{"ama":"Schryen G, Wagner G, Schlegel A. In one view, such shifts are attributed to attention speeding up processing of the cued stimulus, so-called prior entry. However, sometimes these shifts are so large that it is unlikely that they are caused by attention alone. Here we tested the prevalent alternative explanation that the cue is sometimes confused with the target on a perceptual level, bolstering the shift of the psychometric function. We applied a novel model of cued temporal-order judgments, derived from Bundesen’s Theory of Visual Attention. We found that cue–target confusions indeed contribute to shifting psychometric functions. However, cue-induced changes in the processing rates of the target stimuli play an important role, too. At smaller cueing intervals, the cue increased the processing speed of the target. At larger intervals, inhibition of return was predominant. In this paper, a system for joint temporal segmentation, speaker localization, and identification is presented, which is supported by face identification from video data obtained from a steerable camera. Special attention is paid to latency aspects and online processing capabilities, as they are important for the application under investigation, namely ambient communication. It describes the vision of terminal-less, session-less and multi-modal telecommunication with remote partners, where the user can move freely within his home while the communication follows him.
