text: The family plays an important role in adolescents’ social development. Yet
there is little information about the impact of family climate on adolescents’
social adaptation, and the term “family climate” is seldom clearly defined and
is usually related to other concepts, such as family systems or family environments.
To understand the core of family climate, this study conducted a systematic review
to analyze research about family climate associated with adolescents’ social adaptation
in community samples. A search of empirical research published over the last 20 years
identified 12 relevant studies. The studies revealed that family climate can mainly
be described in terms of cohesion, conflict, organization, adaptability, and expressiveness.
Family climate was shown to be a good predictor of both problem-solving skills
and violence in relationships and exhibited further associations with other aspects
of social adaptation. This review revealed a need for more systematic and longitudinal
research on family climate in community samples.

text: "Against the background of a European-wide strategy of governance aimed\r\nat
improving support for parents and families, the following report details\r\nthe
conceptualization and evaluation of a federal state program4 in Baden-\r\nWürttemberg
(Germany) which was launched in 2008 to encourage fam-\r\nily and parent education.
Two program components, a voucher system\r\nfor parents with a new-born child
and an element that emphasizes educa-\r\ntional offers for families with special
needs in particular living situations,\r\nwere started to increase requests for
educational courses. The aim was to\r\nestablish and deepen cooperation between
different public and private\r\nprofessional services that are in contact with
parents and their children.\r\nThe results show that main goals of the program
    were reached."

text: "In order to investigate the significance of\r\nadults’ relationship to their
parents, this relationship is\r\ncompared to relationships with siblings, friends,
    partners,\r\nand children. German adults (N = 902) between the ages\r\nof 20 and
86 completed the Network of Relationships\r\nInventory (Furman and Buhrmester
1992). Participants felt\r\nmost supported by their partners, followed by their
children, mothers, friends, fathers, and siblings. Conflicts were\r\nmore frequently
found within the family (especially with\r\nthe partner, followed by children,
mothers, fathers, and\r\nsiblings) than with friends. Except for partner relationships,\r\nboth
conflict and support decreased with age. Concerning\r\nrelative power within their
relationships, partners, mothers,\r\nand siblings are seen as equals, friends
and especially\r\nfathers are perceived as more powerful, and children as\r\nless,
yet increasingly powerful. Regarding all relationship\r\ntypes and relationship
qualities, the differences between\r\nwomen and men were small."
