This paper aims to review the development of AR since 2010, particularly in technical university laboratories, through a systematic literature review. The study investigates AR's relevance in university teaching and examines specific AR applications in laboratory settings.\r\nUsing a mixed-method approach, the research first employs a web crawler to gather 27,249 articles from the Lens database, followed by a bibliometric analysis. Further, Google Scholar is used to find 374 articles related to AR in scientific and technical laboratories, with 51 significant ones evaluated for application areas, findings, and other criteria.\r\nThe findings show that AR in education is a growing trend, with a significant increase in publications and citations in recent years. Most studies focus on marker-based mobile AR applications, assessing aspects like motivation and user experience through surveys and interviews. However, there's limited research on AR's learning effectiveness in laboratories, partly due to the scarcity of technical equipment. One study found no significant learning impact from AR.","lang":"eng"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"keyword":["Augmented Reality","Mixed Reality","Literature Review","Bibliometric Analysis","Education \\and Laboratories"],"year":"2025","date_created":"2025-08-06T09:41:25Z","publisher":"Springer Nature","title":"Quantitative and Qualitative Literature Review of Augmented Reality in Teaching"},{"publisher":"SCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publications","date_updated":"2024-11-27T07:53:24Z","date_created":"2024-11-27T07:50:07Z","author":[{"last_name":"Schultz","id":"40599","full_name":"Schultz, Andreas Maximilian","first_name":"Andreas Maximilian"},{"first_name":"Fabian","full_name":"Dotzki, Fabian","last_name":"Dotzki"},{"last_name":"Mozgova","full_name":"Mozgova, Iryna","id":"95903","first_name":"Iryna"}],"title":"Knowledge Management in Civil Protection at the Example of Fire Brigades","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://www.scitepress.org/Link.aspx?doi=10.5220/0012947700003838"}],"conference":{"name":"International Joint Conference on Knowledge Discovery, Knowledge Engineering and Knowledge Management","start_date":"2024-11-17","end_date":"2024-11-19","location":"Porto, Portugal"},"doi":"10.5220/0012947700003838","publication_status":"published","year":"2024","citation":{"short":"A.M. This paper conducts a Systematic Literature Review at the intersection of the knowledge management field and disaster management and examines the available body of literature. Fire departments are chosen as the focus group as they are the most prevalent emergency services. There are many publications that deal with knowledge management during the response phase of an emergency. Often, the literature focuses on the application of knowledge management in large-scale disasters to link the various organizations on-scene. What is missing in most approaches is a prior step of implementing and training the knowledge management system. Therefore, this literature review seeks to provide an overview of approaches for daily routines and small-to-medium incidents that serve as a training ground. However, literature on non-incident phases and smaller incidents is scarce. As information technologies are developing rapidly, there is no modern and recent description of the current use of knowledge management solutions in this area."}],"status":"public"},{"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://hdl.handle.net/10125/103252"}],"conference":{"name":"56th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences"},"title":"Geographic Information Systems in Information Systems Research - Review and Research Prospects","date_created":"2023-01-19T06:32:14Z","author":[{"first_name":"Jennifer","last_name":"Priefer","id":"82872","full_name":"Priefer, Jennifer"}],"date_updated":"2023-01-19T06:32:30Z","citation":{"ieee":"J. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) allow for acquisition, management, analysis, and presentation of geospatial objects. With free geospatial data becoming available through open data policies and an increasing amount of digitally connected objects in the Internet of Things (IoT), GIS are becoming indispensable to Information Systems (IS) research. However, the consideration and relevance of GIS has only been investigated rarely. We examine, how and in which fields of application GIS have been studied in the IS literature and elicit the importance of GIS regarding their design and usage. From the perspective of potential students, these programmes are highly attractive because they combine types of learning that used to be largely separate at an institutional level: vocational and academic learning. In training-integrated dual study programmes, different institutional contexts, governance regimes, teaching styles and learning environments make bridging these two worlds of learning a challenge for both educators and learners. However, these programmes also allow leeway for didactic innovation, through the cooperation of different types of educational institutions and through new ways of using available didactic methods, and for establishing a new relationship between higher education (HE) and vocational education and training (VET). This paper positions training-integrated dual study programmes as an object of design-based research (DBR). By developing and using an extended model for the pedagogic development of HEIs, “pädagogische Hochschulentwicklung” (Brahm, Jenert, & Euler, 2016a, p. 19; Euler, 2013, p. 360), the paper systematically identifies generic educational problems in these hybrids. Based on a literature review, this paper classifies and explains the design challenges at the level of the learning environment, the study programme and the organisation. The challenges revolve mainly around the cooperation and integration of HE and VET. The paper concludes with an outlook on future DBR projects designing dual studies."}],"status":"public","_id":"48366","user_id":"81839","article_number":"24","article_type":"original","keyword":["Dual study programmes","Design challenges","Pedagogic development of HEIs","Literature review","Study programme development","DBR cycle"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2511-0667"]},"issue":"1","year":"2020","citation":{"apa":"Mordhorst, L., & Gössling, B. This paper assumes that literature reviews, which represent a powerful instrument for the identification and synthesis of knowledge, have not tapped their full potential to address this issue due to deficiencies in methodology. The analysis of 18 literature reviews published in pertinent academic outlets during the past 20 years shows such deficiencies. Two of the most critical weaknesses identified are (1) the lack of theory use in most reviews and (2) a weak linkage of reviews, resulting in little progress in theory and framework development. The systematic identification of these weaknesses and the extraction of promising methodological examples from past literature are the main contributions of this work, which supports the composition of more effective literature reviews in future research."}],"file":[{"content_type":"application/pdf","relation":"main_file","date_created":"2018-12-11T15:14:51Z","creator":"hsiemes","date_updated":"2018-12-13T15:17:00Z","access_level":"open_access","file_name":"2010_Book_ScandinavianInformationSystems - Schryen.pdf","file_id":"6186","file_size":302340}],"status":"public","type":"conference","publication":"Proceedings of the First Scandinavian Conference on Information Systems (SCIS)","ddc":["000"],"keyword":["Literature review","Business value","Information systems","Methodology","Theory"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"extern":"1","file_date_updated":"2018-12-13T15:17:00Z","_id":"5643","user_id":"61579","department":[{"_id":"277"}],"year":"2010","citation":{"ama":"Schryen G. However, the ?productivity paradoxon? of the 90s, Carr?s widely recognized paper ?IT doesn?t matter?, and several studies that do not find a positive correlation between IS investments and economic performance reveal long-lasting difficulties for IS researchers to explain ?IS business value?. Business executives and researchers also continue to question the value of IS investments. This raises the question of whether literature reviews have tapped their potential to address the concerns by covering key research areas of IS business value and preserving their key findings. In order to address this question, this paper identifies and describes 12 key research areas, and synthesizes what literature reviews published in pertinent academic outlets have done to preserve knowledge. The analysis of 22 literature reviews shows that some crucial areas have not been (sufficiently) covered. They provide fertile areas for future literature reviews. As this work is based on the results of more than 200 research papers, it is capable of drawing a comprehensive picture of the current state-of-the-art in IS business value research."}],"publication":"Business \\& Information Systems Engineering (BISE)","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"keyword":["Business value","Information systems","Literature review","Meta review"],"ddc":["000"],"intvolume":" 52","page":"225-237","citation":{"apa":"Schryen, G.
