Private households are central to this transition, combining dynamic consumption with decentralised generation. This paper presents a multi-agent microgrid simulation built on the Mesa framework, focusing on the heterogeneous objectives and technological capabilities of residential participants. Households are modelled as autonomous agents with individual strategies, while a dedicated “grid agent” represents the distribution system operator and regulates the microgrid in a grid-supportive manner. The emission factor serves as the key indicator for grid-friendly behaviour. Results show that in summer, unmanaged PV feed-in from heterogeneous households causes substantial grid stress and balancing effort for the distribution system operator. Dynamic electricity prices can incentivise grid-friendly dispatch, but their effectiveness depends on the correlation between price signals and renewable availability and cannot guarantee grid-supportive behaviour alone. The grid agent reliably improves the grid-supportive coefficient, yet its operating strategy, for instance additional peak-reduction objectives, can interfere with price-based incentives. Effective demand-side management therefore requires careful analysis of stakeholder interactions. Building on this insight, thepaper provides a basic framework for the design, implementation, and assessment of both integrated and individual energy management strategies within a microgrid environment. Building on a rich research portfolio that spans from early workflow automation to robotic process automation (RPA), large language models (LLMs) are the most recent disruptive technologies to influence all BPM capability areas. Particularly, these technologies fuel the emerging research fields of AI-enhanced business process management systems and autonomous process execution. In a design science research approach, we develop a modular LLM agent architecture that effectively enables the adaptation and execution of business processes. The architecture integrates a Frame Agent that can generate process descriptions and an Operational Agent that autonomously executes processes based on the Frame Agent’s process descriptions. It further enables a future Tactical Agent for autonomous process adaptations. We demonstrate the architecture’s applicability and utility with the real-world case of a meter-to-cash process, comparing it to the performance of an RPA bot. Our findings provide early insights into the challenges faced by autonomous process execution and its relation with RPA in terms of adaptability, flexibility, and complexity in autonomous process execution. Companies must comply with numerous regulations for such product approvals. This results in requirements for processes, methods, tools and organizations throughout the product life cycle. A proven approach to handling regulatory requirements is the application of product lifecycle management (PLM) platforms. Applying PLM platforms (e.g. Teamcenter, 3DExperience) poses challenges in designing compliant processes as well as adapting methods and tools. For example, in medical technology, ISO 13485 specifies an industry-specific product engineering process. The exemplary adaptations of requirements engineering methods and related support – e.g. MBSE including Requirements Diagrams – are not intuitively apparent. Existing literature primarily regards these regulation-related challenges as boundary conditions, offering only vague operational solutions. Companies struggle to align PLM processes with regulatory requirements, yet few methods exist to support this integration. In this paper, a method is proposed that supports the application of regulation-centered PLM platforms and reduces effort in product approvals. The method is developed by applying a five-step approach. Existing literature on process models for applying PLM platforms is identified (1). The identified approaches are then analyzed to determine whether and to what extent they consider regulations in applying PLM platforms (2). Based on identified partial solutions from literature and findings from industry workshops, a new method is developed (3). The method comprises strategic level, process level, data level, pilot level, and operation level. Validation is conducted within a German medical technology company, containing proof of applicability determined through a pilot project (4) and proof of concept achieved through interviews (5). The method is applied to regulation-centered PLM for the use case ‘requirements engineering’. The concept is confirmed by experts in terms of applicability and transferability. Rather, what is crucial is how technical, organizational, and communicative dimensions are interconnected and whether this results in recognizable added value for researchers in their day-to-day work. In this context, both intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors influence the willingness to actively and continuously use research data management (RDM) systems.This article synthesizes experiences from two collaborating subprojects on information infrastructure (INF) within two Collaborative Research Centers. Both develop and operate RDM structures for interdisciplinary research consortia in the field of engineering and face comparable challenges: Adhering to the rules of good scientific practice when handling data is under pressure in today’s world; the benefits of individual data entries sometimes remain abstract, and additional process steps can reduce acceptance of technical solutions. The effort involved is primarily evaluated based on whether, from the researchers’ perspective, it yields a recognizable benefit. Based on this, specific approaches for user-oriented integration of different RDM levels are presented. These include the integration of RDM tools into existing research tools and workflows, cross-subproject access to information, as well as SPARQL-based search capabilities and future approaches to knowledge exploration. One concrete example is an implemented adapter that automatically transfers data sets from existing Excel files and electronic lab notebook entries from eLabFTW into the RDM system, thereby reducing the number of required process steps. Since the adapter was deployed, a measurable increase in the number of datasets imported into the RDM system has been observed. Such technical and procedural measures are complemented by workshops, personalized support, systematic feedback, and the continuous adaptation of the systems to the needs of researchers.This poster illustrates that RDM systems must be understood as sociotechnical systems. It is only through the interplay of infrastructure, process integration, communication, and perceived benefits that individual RDM developments can be transformed into a practical service. The collaboration between the two INF subprojects makes it possible to pool experiences, solution approaches, and transferable design principles across institutions and research consortia.","lang":"eng"},{"text":"Die erfolgreiche Bereitstellung von Forschungsdaten hängt nicht allein von der technischen Qualität einzelner Systeme ab. Entscheidend ist vielmehr, wie technische, organisatorische und kommunikative Ebenen miteinander verbunden werden und ob daraus für Forschende ein erkennbarer Mehrwert im Arbeitsalltag entsteht. Dabei beeinflussen sowohl intrinsische als auch extrinsische Motivationsfaktoren die Bereitschaft, Systeme des Forschungsdatenmanagements (FDM) aktiv und kontinuierlich zu nutzen.Der Beitrag bündelt Erfahrungen aus zwei kooperierenden Teilprojekten zur Informationsinfrastruktur (INF) zweier Sonderforschungsbereiche. Beide entwickeln und betreiben FDM-Strukturen für interdisziplinäre Forschungsverbünde im ingenieurwissenschaftlichen Kontext und stehen vor vergleichbaren Herausforderungen: Der Umgang mit Daten nach den Regeln der guten wissenschaftlichen Praxis steht in der heutigen Zeit unter Druck, der Nutzen einzelner Eingaben bleibt mitunter abstrakt und zusätzliche Prozessschritte können die Akzeptanz technischer Lösungen verringern. Aufwand wird dabei wesentlich danach bewertet, ob ihm aus Sicht der Forschenden ein erkennbarer Nutzen gegenübersteht.Ausgehend davon werden konkrete Ansätze zur nutzerorientierten Verbindung unterschiedlicher FDM-Ebenen vorgestellt. Dazu zählen die Integration von FDM-Tools in bestehende Forschungswerkzeuge und Arbeitsabläufe, der teilprojektübergreifende Zugang zu Informationen sowie SPARQL-basierte Recherchemöglichkeiten und perspektivische Wissensexploration. Ein konkretes Beispiel ist ein implementierter Adapter, der Datensätze automatisiert aus bestehenden Excel-Dateien und aus elektronischen Laborbüchereinträgen von eLabFTW in das FDM-System überträgt und damit zusätzliche Prozessschritte reduziert. Nach Bereitstellung des Adapters lässt sich ein messbarer Anstieg der in das FDM-System eingespielten Datensätze beobachten. Ergänzt werden solche technischen und prozessualen Maßnahmen durch Workshops, persönliche Unterstützung, systematisches Feedback und die kontinuierliche Anpassung der Systeme an die Bedarfe der Forschenden.Der Beitrag verdeutlicht, dass FDM-Systeme als soziotechnische Systeme verstanden werden müssen. Erst das Zusammenspiel von Infrastruktur, Prozessintegration, Kommunikation und wahrgenommenem Nutzen macht aus einzelnen FDM-Entwicklungen einen praxistauglichen Dienst. Yet, aligning their business with the principles of the CE is a challenging task. Utilizing a systematic literature review (SLR) and thematic analysis a framework for the business transformation towards the CE has been developed. It considers the dimensions product, business strategy, corporate management, and value chain. The circular business transformation (CBT) framework includes incentives for entering the CE, fields of action, design options, and associated challenges. For researchers, it provides a comprehensive overview and serves as a basis for in-depth studies of each dimension of CBT. Process mining relies on event logs that capture explicit process knowledge; however, knowledge-intensive processes (KIPs) in domains such as healthcare and product development depend on tacit knowledge, which is often absent from event logs. To bridge this gap, this study proposes a LLM-based framework for mobilizing tacit process knowledge and enriching event logs. A proof-of-concept is demonstrated using a KIP-specific LLM-driven conversational agent built on GPT-4o. The results indicate that LLMs can capture tacit process knowledge through targeted queries and systematically integrate it into event logs. We analyse whether heteroclinic structures can arise in network dynamics with higher-order interactions which describe the nonlinear interactions between three or more units. We find that while commonly analysed model equations such as network dynamics on undirected hypergraphs may be useful to describe local dynamics such as cluster synchronization, they give rise to obstructions that allow to design of heteroclinic structures in phase space. Thus, we aim to further the literature on time perspectives and collaborative performance, shedding light on the underlying behavioral patterns.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-subheading\">Design/methodology/approach</jats:title><jats:p>We report a quasi-experiment analyzing the impact of past, present and future orientation variation in dyads (<jats:italic>N</jats:italic> = 76) on their quantitative and qualitative performance when confronted with a simple incentivized creative task with constraints. Subsequently, we offer a qualitative analysis of comments given by the participants after the task on the collaboration.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-subheading\">Findings</jats:title><jats:p>Results indicate that a dyad's elevation of past orientation and diversity in future orientation negatively affect collaborative performance. At the same time, there is a positive effect of elevation of future orientation. The positive effect is driven by clear communication and agreement during the task, while the negative effect arises from work sharing and complementation.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-subheading\">Practical implications</jats:title><jats:p>This study provides insights for organizations on composing individuals regarding their temporal focus for collaborative tasks that should be executed rapidly and require creative solutions.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title content-type=\"abstract-subheading\">Originality/value</jats:title><jats:p>Our study distinguishes by considering the composition of past, present and future time perspectives in dyads and focuses on a creative task setting. Fire departments are chosen as the focus group as they are the most prevalent emergency services. There are many publications that deal with knowledge management during the response phase of an emergency. Often, the literature focuses on the application of knowledge management in large-scale disasters to link the various organizations on-scene. What is missing in most approaches is a prior step of implementing and training the knowledge management system. Due to the sheer size of knowledge graphs, automatic fact-checking approaches have been developed. These approaches rely on reference knowledge to decide whether a given assertion is correct. Recent hybrid approaches achieve good results by including several knowledge sources. However, it is often impractical to provide a sheer quantity of textual knowledge or generate embedding models to leverage these hybrid approaches. We present FaVEL, an approach that uses algorithm selection and ensemble learning to amalgamate several existing fact-checking approaches that rely solely on a reference knowledge graph and, hence, use fewer resources than current hybrid approaches. For our evaluation, we create updated versions of two existing datasets and a new dataset dubbed FaVEL-DS. Our evaluation compares our approach to 15 fact-checking approaches—including the state-of-the-art approach HybridFC—on 3 datasets. Our results demonstrate that FaVEL outperforms all other approaches significantly by at least 0.04 in terms of the area under the ROC curve. Several introduction strategies are available in the literature; nevertheless, the introduction of Systems Engineering into practice still poses a great challenge to companies. Many companies have already gained experience in the introduction of Systems Engineering. Therefore, as part of the SE4OWL research project, the need to conduct a study including expert interviews and to collect the experiences of experts was identified. A total of 78 hypotheses were identified from 13 expert interviews concerning the lessons learned. Using exclusion criteria, 52 hypotheses were validated in a subsequent quantitative survey with 112 participants. Of these 52 hypotheses, 40 could be confirmed based on the survey results. Only four hypotheses were rejected, and eight could neither be confirmed nor rejected. As two major change agents, technology infusion and data privacy regulations are inextricably linked and constitute a critical ethical and societal issue. Specifically, service frontlines—as represented by human or technological agents, or some hybrid form—rely on customer data for service provision, which subjects them to privacy regulations governing the collection, submission, access, and use of any customer data thus captured. However, scant research outlines the significant implications of evolving data privacy regulations for service frontline encounters. To advance knowledge in this domain, this research distills six key dimensions of global data privacy regulations (fairness, data limits, transparency, control, consent, and recourse). Employing an intelligences theoretical lens, the authors theorize how these dimensions might become differentially manifest across three service frontline interface types (human-based, technology-based, and hybrid). Carefully intersecting the need for varying intelligences across data privacy regulatory dimensions with the abilities of service frontline interfaces to harness each intelligence type, this study offers a novel conceptual framework that advances research and practice.
