In this context, a promising approach is utilizing flexible apparatuses and flexible plants to react to changing boundary conditions. However, the concept of flexibility in chemical engineering, which originated in manufacturing, still lacks a comprehensive organization and categorization of different types of flexibility. Thus, in this work, the origin of flexibility in manufacturing is traced, and a literature overview on flexibility in chemical engineering is provided. Based on a subsequent cluster analysis, four types of flexibility are identified and defined. Furthermore, this work enables research on flexibility to be integrated into a general and consistent definition of flexibility. The definitions are applied to examples from literature to achieve comparability. While enabling the qualitative assessment of flexibility, this work identifies open research gaps regarding the quantification of flexibility.
"}],"type":"journal_article","publication":"Journal of Advanced Manufacturing and Processing"},{"_id":"37122","user_id":"15782","department":[{"_id":"563"}],"keyword":["General Medicine"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","publication":"Procedia CIRP","status":"public","publisher":"Elsevier BV","date_updated":"2023-01-17T14:01:36Z","date_created":"2023-01-17T14:00:26Z","author":[{"last_name":"Niewöhner","full_name":"Niewöhner, Nadine","first_name":"Nadine"},{"full_name":"Asmar, Laban","last_name":"Asmar","first_name":"Laban"},{"first_name":"Daniel","full_name":"Röltgen, Daniel","last_name":"Röltgen"},{"first_name":"Arno","full_name":"Kühn, Arno","last_name":"Kühn"},{"full_name":"Dumitrescu, Roman","id":"16190","last_name":"Dumitrescu","first_name":"Roman"}],"volume":91,"title":"The impact of the 4th industrial revolution on the design fields of innovation management","doi":"10.1016/j.procir.2020.02.149","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2212-8271"]},"year":"2020","citation":{"chicago":"Niewöhner, Nadine, Laban Asmar, Daniel Röltgen, Arno Kühn, and Roman Dumitrescu. “The Impact of the 4th Industrial Revolution on the Design Fields of Innovation Management.” <i>Procedia CIRP</i> 91 (2020): 43–48. <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.procir.2020.02.149\">https://doi.org/10.1016/j.procir.2020.02.149</a>.","ieee":"N. Thus, instructions should be presented in a way that enables fast and errorless information processing. High affordances in visual–spatial transformation (e.g., mental rotation processes) might both impede information processing and decrease execution performance. The aim of this study was to scrutinize the effect of different orientations of visual tactical displays on observation time under self-paced conditions as well as to compare the effects on execution performance to those of externally paced conditions. An N-Way ANOVA showed that larger semitendinosus activity was seen when ATTd was larger, while less biceps femoris activity and rectus femoris activity were seen. Muscle activation did not contribute to reduce ATTd during impact of a jump-landing at the observed knee angles. The present study shows that extensive practice reduces the head-fake effect in basketball. Additional analyses were conducted to explore the mechanism behind the reduced head-fake effect. First, we analyzed whether or not participants developed some control over the processing of irrelevant gaze direction, as indicated by specific trial-to-trial adaptations (i.e., congruency sequence effect). Second, we fitted the individual frequency distributions of RTs to ex-Gaussian distributions, to evaluate if practice specifically affects the Gaussian part of the distribution or the exponential part of the distribution. Third, we modeled individual RT distributions as the so-called mixture effects to examine whether the way irrelevant gaze direction impacts performance (either occasionally but massively or continuously but moderately) changes with practice. The analyses revealed that the effect of practice could not be explained with an increasing congruency-sequence effect. Also, it could not be found in the ex-Gaussian distributional analyses. The assumption that residual failure to inhibit the processing of the gaze direction in contrast to continuous failures to do so might favor mixed effects over uniform effects at later courses of practice could not be validated. The reduced head-fake effect thus is argued to source in participants’ general increasing ability to inhibit the processing of the task-irrelevant gaze direction information and/or in a priority shift of gaze processing to a processing of the pass direction."}],"date_created":"2023-01-21T13:34:03Z","publisher":"Springer Science and Business Media LLC","title":"Is the head-fake effect in basketball robust against practice?
