text: The preparation of hierarchical and sophisticated particle architectures for
mimicking structural colors known from nature still remains a challenge. In this
study, the preparation of novel opal and double-inverse opal films based on thermally
treated metallopolymer core particles with a silica shell is described. Thermal
treatment leads to the formation of magnetic nanorattle-type particles. The main
challenge of artificial particles is to ensure sufficient dispersibility after
several synthetic steps. Especially silica particles providing surface hydroxyl
groups tend to sinter at high temperatures leading to agglomeration. We present
the introduction of trimethyl ethoxy silane (TMES) as an excellent functionalization
reagent as the key reaction step. The necessity and success of functionalization
are investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and zeta potential
measurements. Importantly, solid state NMR techniques are employed to gain deeper
insights into the chemical structure of the surface-attached reagent. Finally,
by this convenient functionalization the preparation of elastomeric opal films
and double-inverse opal films is proven successful revealing excellent optical
film properties. Moreover, magnetic properties of these novel films are investigated
by using magnetic force microscopy (MFM). The herein established route is expected
to pave the way for the preparation of a variety of advanced and stimuli-responsive
    optical materials.

  text:
The debate surrounding climate change often centers on companies’
contributions to global warming, which has led to an increase in the importance
of carbon disclosure. We evaluate the current state of related research and identify
its trends, coherences, and caveats via a systematic literature review. Sociopolitical
theories of disclosure, economic theories of disclosure, and institutional theory
serve as the main theoretical anchors for our exploration. The existing research
emphasizes the determinants and, to a lesser extent, effects of carbon disclosure,
as well as the associated regulatory issues such as voluntary versus mandatory
disclosure. Additionally, we discuss related topics, such as assurance and risks.
We find that a large portion of scholarly work provides no link to theory, despite
the fact that such links can be identified, for example, from the financial disclosure
literature. Finally, we report on the established knowledge and examine the need
    for additional research.

  text:
In service industries, hierarchical loyalty programs are common relationship
marketing instruments that award elevated status to customers who exceed a certain
spending level (e.g., gold membership). In practice, service companies offer elevated
status to some customers who do not meet the required spending level, in an attempt
to profit from the profound allure of status. Relying on social psychology research
and a mixed-method approach, this study analyzes the loyalty impact of status
endowments, defined as awards of elevated status to customers who are not entitled
to it. An exploratory qualitative study identifies customer gratitude and customer
skepticism as positive and negative mediators, respectively, of customers’ attitudinal
responses to endowed status. Quantitative studies—two experimental and one survey—substantiate
these bright and dark sides of endowed status. The efficacy of status endowment
is contingent on the context. To alleviate the dark-side effect, managers can
allow target customers to actively choose whether to be endowed, especially those
who are close to achieving the status already, and provide valuable preferential
treatment to customers elevated by either endowment or achievement. These insights

text: Global competition as well as social and scientific megatrends strongly influence
the modern car manufacturing industry. One of the most important approaches is
the implementation of lightweight constructions. Therefore, the usage of high
performance materials with tailored properties gains importance. For safety-relevant
components such as automotive passenger cells it is necessary to minimize deformation
to reduce the risk of injury for the vehicle occupants during a car accident.
Thus, hot stamped high-strength steels have been established. High-strength and
low formability of this kind of materials represent new challenges for joining
technologies. One possibility to join high-strength steels is the newly developed
shear-clinching technology. Due to the use of a combined cutting and joining process,
the connection of dissimilar materials with high difference in strength and formability
can be achieved. Further research to ensure process reliability and to improve
the strength of the joint is required. One possible approach for this is the numerical
investigation of the material flow during the joining process. Therefore, the
definition of process parameters for the finite element model is necessary. A
big impact on the quality of the results has the accuracy of the used friction
values. As established testing methods are not suitable for modeling the rather
complex tribological system between the joining partners of the shear-clinching
process, an innovative testing method is needed. Studies in the field of sheet-bulk
metal forming already demonstrated the applicability of the ring compression test
for sheet metals. This paper presents a concept for the adaption of the ring compression
test to the specific needs of the investigated shear-clinching process. The numerical
identification of the friction coefficients is validated by experimental data
and first results are qualified by experimental and simulative shear-clinching
    joints.

  text: '
mixed-methods Designs miteinander verknüpft (Mathematiktest ‚zahlenstark‘, standardisierte
Beobachtung, standardisiertes Interview).
'

text: Natural disasters, including earthquakes, Tsunamis, floods, hurricanes, and
volcanic eruptions, have caused tremendous harm and continue to threaten millions
of humans and various infrastructure capabilities each year. In their efforts
to take countermeasures against the threats posed by future natural disasters,
the United Nations formulated the ?Hyogo Framework for Action?, which aims at
assessing and reducing risk. This framework and a global review of disaster reduction
initiatives of the United Nations acknowledge the need for information systems
research contributions in addressing major challenges of natural disaster management.
In this paper, we provide a review of the literature with regard to how information
systems research has addressed risk assessment and reduction in natural disaster
management. Based on the review we identify research gaps that are centered around
the need for acquiring general knowledge on how to design IS artifacts for risk
assessment and reduction. In order to close these gaps in further research, we
develop a research agenda that follows the IS design science paradigm.
