  abstract     = {{<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Three prominent low order implicit time integration schemes are the first order implicit Euler-method, the second order trapezoidal rule and the second order Ellsiepen method. Its advantages are stability and comparatively low computational cost, however, they require the solution of a nonlinear system of equations. This paper presents a general approach for the construction of third order Runge–Kutta methods by embedding the above mentioned implicit schemes into the class of ELDIRK-methods. These will be defined to have an <jats:italic>Explicit Last</jats:italic> stage in the general Butcher array of <jats:italic>Diagonal Implicit Runge–Kutta</jats:italic> (DIRK) methods, with the consequence, that no additional system of equations must be solved. The main results—valid also for non-linear ordinary differential equations—are as follows: Two extra function calculations are required in order to embed the implicit Euler-method and one extra function calculation is required for the trapezoidal-rule and the Ellsiepen method, in order to obtain the third order properties, respectively. Two numerical examples are concerned with a parachute with viscous damping and a two-dimensional laser beam simulation. Here, we verify the higher order convergence behaviours of the proposed new ELDIRK-methods, and its successful performances for asymptotically exact global error estimation of so-called reversed embedded RK-method are shown.

  abstract     = {{In this paper, we apply imprinting theory to examine how institutional transformation substantially influences perceptions of corruption that we argue to be incorporated to a varying extent in organizations founded in that period. For this purpose, we compare the effect of a sudden shock (dissolution of the Soviet Union) on the managers' present perceptions to that of a steady transition (EU accession). We consult the 5th round of the Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey from 2012 to 2014 analyzing 4715 interviews with managers of organizations from twelve Central and Eastern European countries. Our results reveal striking differences in the present perception of corruption for organizations founded immediately before and immediately after these institutional transitions. The study's results contribute to the research on imprinting theory regarding the relationship between organizations and institutional conditions that constitutes a lasting effect on organizational structures. Thus, applying an institutional perspective that considers less stable periods for organizations yields a promising avenue in research on organizational behavior.}},

  abstract     = {{In der Mehrheit der deutschen Bundesländer ist ein Langzeitpraktikum (Praxissemester) Bestandteil der Lehramtsstudiengänge. Es zielt insbesondere darauf, Theorie und Praxis miteinander in Beziehung zu setzen. Trotz der gewichtigen Rolle, die den Mentor*innen dabei zugeschrieben wird, ist deren Perspektive noch wenig untersucht. Die empirisch auffindbaren Unterschiede in der Betreuung Studierender könnten u. a. auf unterschiedliche Vorstellungen von der Beziehung zwischen Theorie und Praxis seitens der Mentor*innen zurückzuführen sein. Diese Vorstellungen interessieren in der im Folgenden dargestellten explorativen Interviewstudie, deren Daten einer strukturierenden Inhaltsanalyse unterzogen wurden. Nachstehenden Forschungsfragen wird nachgegangen:

1) Sind die Mentor*innen auf die Aufgabe der Verknüpfung von Theorie und Praxis vorbereitet?

2) Werden in den Erzählungen der Mentor*innen zu gelingenden und misslingenden Betreuungserfahrungen Theorie-Praxis-Relationierungsfiguren sichtbar, wenn ja, welche und zeigen sich Bemühungen der Verknüpfung von Theorie und Praxis?

3) Werden in den Erzählungen der Mentor*innen zur eigenen Lerngeschichte Theorie-Praxis-Relationierungsfiguren sichtbar, wenn ja, welche und welche relative Rolle spielt das Ausbildungswissen aus Sicht der Mentor*innen für die Entwicklung ihres Könnens?

4) Welches Wissensverständnis der Mentor*innen zeigt sich in den Transkripten und welche Relevanz wird Wissen im Vergleich zu Erfahrung, Reflexion von Erfahrung und Persönlichkeit zugeschrieben?

Es zeigt sich, dass die Mentor*innen das Theorie-Praxis-Verhältnis in den Gesprächen selten thematisieren, die Begriffe „Wissen“ und „Können“ synonym verwenden und der Erfahrung für die Entwicklung von Können eine höhere Relevanz beimessen als dem didaktischen und pädagogischen Ausbildungswissen.

The catalyst provides the primary amines in high yields of 77–99% with catalyst loading as low as 2 mol%. The reaction displays high functional group tolerance towards esters, amides, nitro groups and aliphatic halides.   abstract     = {{In Germany, dual learning programmes are increasingly offered by higher education institutions. These programmes’ main characteristic and greatest challenge is their integration of academic and vocational learning. So far, this challenge has frequently been stated without specifying its exact nature and consequences for learners. The present study addresses this pedagogical research gap and examines the extent of variation in the degree of integration among dual study programmes. With reference to curriculum theory, the study develops an empirical typology of curricular integration in dual programmes. The data sample consists of 152 programmes at (dual) universities and universities of applied sciences. Data is analysed using hierarchical cluster analysis. Results indicate that the currently prevailing forms of curricular integration should best be differentiated according to five types. The five overlapping types of integration are located on a continuum ranging from parallelism through organisational linking to full curricular integration targeted immediately at students’ personal integration. The analysis confirms that there are problems with complying with integration standards set on the policy level. Above all, the study offers new insights on what marks the diverse integration landscape of dual study programmes. It proves that approaches to integration are more differentiated than previous research has shown.}},

  abstract     = {{Multi-objective (MO) optimization, i.e., the simultaneous optimization of multiple conflicting objectives, is gaining more and more attention in various research areas, such as evolutionary computation, machine learning (e.g., (hyper-)parameter optimization), or logistics (e.g., vehicle routing). Many works in this domain mention the structural problem property of multimodality as a challenge from two classical perspectives: (1) finding all globally optimal solution sets, and (2) avoiding to get trapped in local optima. Interestingly, these streams seem to transfer many traditional concepts of single-objective (SO) optimization into claims, assumptions, or even terminology regarding the MO domain, but mostly neglect the understanding of the structural properties as well as the algorithmic search behavior on a problem’s landscape. However, some recent works counteract this trend, by investigating the fundamentals and characteristics of MO problems using new visualization techniques and gaining surprising insights. Using these visual insights, this work proposes a step towards a unified terminology to capture multimodality and locality in a broader way than it is usually done. This enables us to investigate current research activities in multimodal continuous MO optimization and to highlight new implications and promising research directions for the design of benchmark suites, the discovery of MO landscape features, the development of new MO (or even SO) optimization algorithms, and performance indicators. For all these topics, we provide a review of ideas and methods but also an outlook on future challenges, research potential and perspectives that result from recent developments.}},

  abstract     = {{The first order optimality conditions of optimal control problems (OCPs) can
be regarded as boundary value problems for Hamiltonian systems. Variational or
symplectic discretisation methods are classically known for their excellent
long term behaviour. As boundary value problems are posed on intervals of
fixed, moderate length, it is not immediately clear whether methods can profit
from structure preservation in this context. When parameters are present,
solutions can undergo bifurcations, for instance, two solutions can merge and
annihilate one another as parameters are varied. We will show that generic
bifurcations of an OCP are preserved under discretisation when the OCP is
either directly discretised to a discrete OCP (direct method) or translated
into a Hamiltonian boundary value problem using first order necessary
conditions of optimality which is then solved using a symplectic integrator
(indirect method). Moreover, certain bifurcations break when a non-symplectic
scheme is used. The general phenomenon is illustrated on the example of a cut
locus of an ellipsoid.}},

  abstract     = {{Most runtime analyses of randomised search heuristics focus on the expected number of function evaluations to find a unique global optimum. We ask a fundamental question: if additional search points are declared optimal, or declared as desirable target points, do these additional optima speed up evolutionary algorithms? More formally, we analyse the expected hitting time of a target set OPT {$\cup$} S where S is a set of non-optimal search points and OPT is the set of optima and compare it to the expected hitting time of OPT. We show that the answer to our question depends on the number and placement of search points in S. For all black-box algorithms and all fitness functions we show that, if additional optima are placed randomly, even an exponential number of optima has a negligible effect on the expected optimisation time. Considering Hamming balls around all global optima gives an easier target for some algorithms and functions and can shift the phase transition with respect to offspring population sizes in the (1,{$\lambda$}) EA on One-Max. Finally, on functions where search trajectories typically join in a single search point, turning one search point into an optimum drastically reduces the expected optimisation time.}},

  abstract     = {{Classic automated algorithm selection (AS) for (combinatorial) optimization problems heavily relies on so-called instance features, i.e., numerical characteristics of the problem at hand ideally extracted with computationally low-demanding routines. For the traveling salesperson problem (TSP) a plethora of features have been suggested. Most of these features are, if at all, only normalized imprecisely raising the issue of feature values being strongly affected by the instance size. Such artifacts may have detrimental effects on algorithm selection models. We propose a normalization for two feature groups which stood out in multiple AS studies on the TSP: (a) features based on a minimum spanning tree (MST) and (b) a k-nearest neighbor graph (NNG) transformation of the input instance. To this end we theoretically derive minimum and maximum values for properties of MSTs and k-NNGs of Euclidean graphs. We analyze the differences in feature space between normalized versions of these features and their unnormalized counterparts. Our empirical investigations on various TSP benchmark sets point out that the feature scaling succeeds in eliminating the effect of the instance size. Eventually, a proof-of-concept AS-study shows promising results: models trained with normalized features tend to outperform those trained with the respective vanilla features.}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:p>The principal aim of this article is to attach and study <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline4.png" /><jats:tex-math>$p$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-adic <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline5.png" /><jats:tex-math>$L$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-functions to cohomological cuspidal automorphic representations <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline6.png" /><jats:tex-math>$\Pi$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> of <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline7.png" /><jats:tex-math>$\operatorname {GL}_{2n}$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> over a totally real field <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline8.png" /><jats:tex-math>$F$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> admitting a Shalika model. We use a modular symbol approach, along the global lines of the work of Ash and Ginzburg, but our results are more definitive because we draw heavily upon the methods used in the recent and separate works of all three authors. By construction, our <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline9.png" /><jats:tex-math>$p$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-adic <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline10.png" /><jats:tex-math>$L$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-functions are distributions on the Galois group of the maximal abelian extension of <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline11.png" /><jats:tex-math>$F$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> unramified outside <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline12.png" /><jats:tex-math>$p\infty$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>. Moreover, we work under a weaker Panchishkine-type condition on <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline13.png" /><jats:tex-math>$\Pi _p$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> rather than the full ordinariness condition. Finally, we prove the so-called Manin relations between the <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline14.png" /><jats:tex-math>$p$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-adic <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline15.png" /><jats:tex-math>$L$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-functions at <jats:italic>all</jats:italic> critical points. This has the striking consequence that, given a unitary <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline16.png" /><jats:tex-math>$\Pi$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> whose standard <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline17.png" /><jats:tex-math>$L$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-function admits at least two critical points, and given a prime <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline18.png" /><jats:tex-math>$p$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> such that <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline19.png" /><jats:tex-math>$\Pi _p$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> is ordinary, the central critical value <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline20.png" /><jats:tex-math>$L(\frac {1}{2}, \Pi \otimes \chi )$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> is non-zero for all except finitely many Dirichlet characters <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline21.png" /><jats:tex-math>$\chi$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula> of <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:inline-graphic xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" mime-subtype="png" xlink:href="S0010437X20007551_inline22.png" /><jats:tex-math>$p$</jats:tex-math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>-power conductor.</jats:p>}},
