In this paper, an approach for a future traffic control system for mixed autonomy traffic environments is presented. Furthermore, a simulation framework based on the city of Paderborn is introduced to enable the development and examination of such a system. This encompasses multiple elements including the road network itself, traffic lights, sensors as well as methods to analyse the topology of the network. Furthermore, a procedure for traffic demand generation and routing is presented based on statistical data of the city and traffic data obtained by measurements. The resulting model can receive and apply the generated control inputs and in turn generates simulated sensor data for the control system based on the current system state."}],"publisher":"SCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publications","date_created":"2023-05-03T08:57:10Z","title":"Simulation Environment for Traffic Control Systems Targeting Mixed Autonomy Traffic Scenarios","quality_controlled":"1","year":"2023","_id":"44390","user_id":"38249","department":[{"_id":"153"}],"type":"conference","status":"public","date_updated":"2023-05-03T09:15:19Z","author":[{"first_name":"Christopher","id":"38249","full_name":"Link, Christopher","last_name":"Link"},{"first_name":"Kevin","full_name":"Malena, Kevin","id":"36303","orcid":"0000-0003-1183-4679","last_name":"Malena"},{"first_name":"Sandra","last_name":"Gausemeier","id":"17793","full_name":"Gausemeier, Sandra"},{"full_name":"Trächtler, Ansgar","id":"552","last_name":"Trächtler","first_name":"Ansgar"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://www.scitepress.org/Link.aspx?doi=10.5220/0011987600003479"}],"conference":{"start_date":"2023-04-26","name":"9th International Conference on Vehicle Technology and Intelligent Transport Systems (VEHITS 2023)","location":"Prague, Czech Republic","end_date":"2023-04-28"},"doi":"10.5220/0011987600003479","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"isbn":["978-989-758-652-1"]},"citation":{"chicago":"Link, Christopher, Kevin Malena, Sandra Gausemeier, and Ansgar Trächtler. “Simulation Environment for Traffic Control Systems Targeting Mixed Autonomy Traffic Scenarios.” In <i>Proceedings of the 9th International Conference on Vehicle Technology and Intelligent Transport Systems</i>. This paper presents a novel method based on limited\r\ndata from sensors positioned at specific locations and guarantees a general accordance of reality and\r\nsimulation in terms of multimodal road traffic counts and vehicle speeds. In these considerations, the actual\r\npurpose of research is of particular importance. Here, the research aims at improving the traffic flow by\r\ncontrolling the Traffic Light Systems (TLS) of the examined area which is why the current traffic state and\r\nthe route choices of individual road users are the matter of interest. An integer optimization problem is derived\r\nto fit the current simulation to the latest field measurements. The concept can be transferred to any road traffic\r\nnetwork and results in an observation of the current multimodal traffic state matching at the given sensor\r\nposition. First case studies show promosing results in terms of deviations between reality and simulation.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"VEHITS 2021 Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Vehicle Technology and Intelligent Transport Systems","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"keyword":["Microscopic Traffic Simulation","Online State Estimation","Mixed Road Users","Sensor Fusion","Integer Programming","Route Choice","Vehicle2Infrastructure"]}]
