  abstract     = {{Paying taxes is a field of economic activity that has always been highly morally charged: the question of who pays how much or can avoid or evade the prescribed payments is always closely related to debate about a fair societal distribution of burdens. In the process of moralisation, therefore, faith communities such as the Catholic Church also repeatedly seized the floor to propagate certain norms. The article examines the contributions of theologians from Spain, the USA and West Germany in the 1940s and 1950s. It concludes that the norms of taxation they propagated differed greatly depending on the institutional and economic frameworks within which they operated. The analysis proves taxation to be a field of economic action and societal dispute where economics and morality are indissolubly interconnected.}},

  abstract     = {{We propose a diarization system, that estimates “who spoke when” based on spatial information, to be used as a front-end of a meeting transcription system running on the signals gathered from an acoustic sensor network (ASN). Although the
spatial distribution of the microphones is advantageous, exploiting the spatial diversity for diarization and signal enhancement is challenging, because the microphones’ positions are typically unknown, and the recorded signals are initially unsynchronized in general. Here, we approach these issues by first blindly synchronizing the signals and then estimating time differences of arrival (TDOAs). The TDOA information is exploited to estimate the speakers’ activity, even in the presence of multiple speakers being simultaneously active. This speaker activity information serves as a guide for a spatial mixture model, on which basis the individual speaker’s signals are extracted via beamforming. Finally, the extracted signals are forwarded to a speech recognizer. Additionally, a novel initialization scheme for spatial mixture models based on the TDOA estimates is proposed. Experiments conducted on real recordings from the LibriWASN data set have shown that our proposed system is advantageous compared to a system using a spatial mixture model, which does not make use
of external diarization information.}},

Dies erfordert einen Paradigmenwechsel in der sicherheitsgerechten Entwicklung mechatronischer und cyber-physischer Systeme hin zu Defense-in-Depth. Systeme müssen so ausgelegt werden, dass sie auch bei gezielten Angriffen möglichst hohe Zuverlässigkeit und Sicherheit gewährleisten. Der hier beschriebene Lösungsansatz erweitert das Systemmodell um Angriffsszenarien und Verteidigungslinien. Diese werden am Beispiel eines industriellen Schließsystems zur Anlagensicherheit erläutert.   abstract     = {{Digital technologies have made the line of visibility more transparent, enabling customers to get deeper insights into an organization’s core operations than ever before. This creates new challenges for organizations trying to consistently deliver high-quality customer experiences. In this paper we conduct an empirical analysis of customers’ preferences and their willingness-to-pay for different degrees of process transparency, using the example of digitally-enabled business-to-customer delivery services. Applying conjoint analysis, we quantify customers’ preferences and willingness-to-pay for different service attributes and levels. Our contributions are two-fold: For research, we provide empirical measurements of customers’ preferences and their willingness-to-pay for process transparency, suggesting that more is not always better. Additionally, we provide a blueprint of how conjoint analysis can be applied to study design decisions regarding changing an organization’s digital line of visibility. For practice, our findings enable service managers to make decisions about process transparency and establishing different levels of service quality.

  abstract     = {{Iron oxide nanoparticles are very interesting for many applications in different industrial sectors. A promising
process to manufacture these nanoparticles is flame spray pyrolysis (FSP). A lack of understanding of the
individual sub-processes in FSP makes it challenging to tailor nanoparticle properties. This work provides
insights into the formation of iron oxide nanoparticles in a turbulent spray flame using Large Eddy Simulations
(LES), which are based on a comprehensive model, including customized submodels. Highlights are the
adaption of a turbulent combustion model and a bivariate hybrid method of moments for modeling nanoparticle
dynamics. The work focuses on the SpraySyn burner, which is a standardized laboratory burner and was
operated with a precursor-solvent mixture of ethanol and iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate. For studying the
relevance of precursor chemistry, LES using an evaporation-limited precursor chemistry model is compared
with a model that includes detailed iron chemistry. A further novelty is the inclusion of adsorption in the
simulation, which defines a third model for comparison. Sufficient validation is achieved for the undoped LES
using experimental data from the literature. A strong impact of the detailed iron chemistry and adsorption
is found on the precursor consumption and the aggregate and primary particle formation. Comparing the
particle diameters with experimental measurements from the literature and data generated for this work is
found unsuitable to asses the precursor chemistry model and revealed an urgent need for future experimental
and numerical research. This work serves as a step forward in realizing a reliable model.}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>In Konstruktionen des Landmaschinenbaus aus dickeren Blechen (ca. 3–10 mm) findet die Klebtechnik bislang nur wenig Anwendung, obwohl sie in anderen Einsatzgebieten bereits ein etabliertes Fügeverfahren darstellt und viele Vorteile gegenüber anderen Fügeverfahren bietet, da es bisher an Regelwerken bei der Auslegung derartiger Verbindungen fehlt. Ein wesentliches Kriterium bei der Auslegung von Verbindungen im Landmaschinenbau ist die Ermüdungsfestigkeit aufgrund der langen Nutzungsphase der Produkte und der in der Landtechnik vorherrschenden Belastungscharakteristika. Geklebte Verbindungen weisen ein hervorragendes Verhalten bei zyklischer Belastung auf. Die steigenden Anforderungen im Hinblick auf Ressourceneffizienz und Leichtbau führen zu einem Umdenken, da durch den vermehrten Einsatz höherfester Stahlwerkstoffe in Kombination mit der Klebtechnik dieses als umsetzbar erscheint. Ziel ist die Entwicklung einer Methode zur Auslegung geklebter Verbindungen in Konstruktionen mit höherfesten Stahlwerkstoffen in Anlehnung an die FKM‐Richtlinie. Die betriebsrelevanten Beanspruchungen der Landtechnik werden analysiert und an speziellen Probekörpern untersucht. Dabei werden sowohl die mechanischen, thermischen und medialen Einflussfaktoren als auch der Einfluss der Klebfugengeometrie und von Betriebslastenkollektiven untersucht. Die Erkenntnisse werden in einer KMU‐relevanten Vorgehensweise zur Ermittlung von Abminderungsfaktoren zusammengefasst, wodurch die Auslegung der Bauteilfestigkeit sowohl statisch als auch dynamisch möglich ist.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:p>Lubricants play a central role in many technical applications, e.g. in bearings and gears as well as in machining processes. In such applications, lubricants are exposed to extreme conditions in the contact area. In lubrication gaps, the pressure can reach values up to 5 GPa. The thermophysical properties of lubricants, and in particular the viscosity, at such extreme conditions have an important influence on the friction and wear behavior of a tribosystem. Accordingly, reliable lubricant property models are a prerequisite for accurate tribological simulations, e.g. elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) simulations. Presently, the vast majority of experimental thermophysical property data are only available up to 1 GPa. Thus, reliable and robust models with strong extrapolation capabilities to higher pressure are required. In this work, viscosity measurements of squalane in a temperature range be tween 20 °C and 100 °C and pressures up to 1 GPa were carried out. Based on that data, a physical model for the viscosity was developed. The model is built by combining a molecular-based equation of state with the so-called entropy scaling approach. Finally, we demonstrate how this fluid property model can be favorably integrated in an EHL simulation by an application programming interface (API). The novel hybrid modeling approach is promising for future applications.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The advent of social media and its commodification have created a never-ending feedback loop between businesses and their customers. In this context, constant negative Word-of-Mouth (NWOM) may jeopardize a corporate image and cause defensiveness in corporate communication. This paper presents a case study of several customer service accounts of the railway company Deutsche Bahn on Twitter to investigate the management and control of constant NWOM and the impact of accountability strategies on customers’ perception of the firm. To this end, a sample of 36,757 Twitter postings was drawn and analyzed by means of sentiment and content analysis techniques. The findings suggest that the perceived accountability towards the firm declined in case of an attitude shift towards the user. In contrast, the firm was being held accountable more insistently after expressed defensiveness, regardless of the firm’s actual accountableness. With this paper, we introduce the notion of accountability management and an accompanying theoretical framework to the literature. This provides a novel perspective on constant NWOM countermeasures for organizations that are part of ‘toxic’ industries or face unrightfully claimed accusations, i.e., when being held accountable for outer circumstances beyond their control.</jats:p>}},
