Since customer requirements are often written in natural language by end users, they lack precision, completeness and consistency. Although user stories are often used in the requirement elicitation process in order to describe the possibilities how to interact with the software, there is always something unspoken. Here, we present techniques how to automatically refine vague software descriptions. Thus, we can bridge the gap by first revising natural language utterances from higher-level to more detailed customer requirements, before functionality matters. We therefore focus on the resolution of semantically incomplete user-generated sentences (i.e. non-instantiated arguments of predicates) and provide ontology-based gap-filling suggestions how to complete unverbalized information in the user’s demand.","lang":"eng"}],"has_accepted_license":"1","keyword":["Requirement refinement","Concept expansion","Ontology-based instantiation of predicate-argument structure"],"user_id":"477"},{"publication":"Advances in Cognitive Psychology","type":"journal_article","volume":12,"page":"20 - 38","issue":"1","title":"Fast and conspicuous? While much research has been dedicated to identifying which feature dimensions contribute to salience, much less regard has been paid to the quantitative strength of the salience caused by feature differences. Only a few studies systematically related salience effects to a common salience measure, and they are partly outdated in the light of new findings on the time course of salience effects. We propose Bundesen’s Theory of Visual Attention (TV A) as a theoretical basis for measuring salience and introduce an empirical and modeling approach to link this theory to data retrieved from temporal-order judgments. With this procedure, TV A becomes applicable to a broad range of salience-related stimulus material. Three experiments with orientation pop-out displays demonstrate the feasibility of the method. In one view, such shifts are attributed to attention speeding up processing of the cued stimulus, so-called prior entry. However, sometimes these shifts are so large that it is unlikely that they are caused by attention alone. Here we tested the prevalent alternative explanation that the cue is sometimes confused with the target on a perceptual level, bolstering the shift of the psychometric function. We applied a novel model of cued temporal-order judgments, derived from Bundesen’s Theory of Visual Attention. We found that cue–target confusions indeed contribute to shifting psychometric functions. However, cue-induced changes in the processing rates of the target stimuli play an important role, too. At smaller cueing intervals, the cue increased the processing speed of the target. This paper tackles the question if the individual levels of motivation, anxiety, enjoyment and self-efficacy, measured immediately before entering university, influence the probability of academic success. Former studies have shown an influence of the high school grade, the learning environment and motivational variables. They do not investigate, however, the individual levels of the mentioned constructs before the beginning of the studies. This research was conducted at the University of St. Gallen/Switzerland. The sample includes 695 first-year students who provided information about the individual level of the mentioned constructs. \r\nDescriptive statistics show that on average the students are highly motivated, have a high level of self-efficacy and are looking forward to their studies before their beginning. Yet, there are students who have a high level of fear of failure in the study in spite of their high motivation and self-efficacy. A logistic regression shows that there is a significant effect of fear of failure on the probability of study success. This paper shows that fear of failure can increase the probability of academic failure and thus become a self-fulfilling prophecy. It confirms fear as an important factor for academic success. Yet, we observe a lack of theoretical underpinning of and epistemological insights into how literature reviews can contribute to knowledge creation and have actually contributed in the IS discipline. To address these theoretical and empirical research gaps, we suggest a novel epistemological model of literature reviews. This model allows us to align different contributions of literature reviews with their underlying knowledge conversions - thereby building a bridge between the previously largely unconnected fields of literature reviews and epistemology. We evaluate the appropriateness of the model by conducting an empirical analysis of 173 IS literature reviews which were published in 39 pertinent IS journals between 2000 and 2014. Des Weiteren ergaben sich Hinweise, dass sich kooperativ-offene Sitzungsformate positiv auf motivationale Ausgangsbedingungen auswirken."}],"title":"Zum Einfluss des didaktischen Designs auf das (motivationale) Erleben von Lehrveranstaltungen: Eine quantitative Fallstudie im Rahmen der Methodeneinführung in den Bildungswissenschaften","author":[{"orcid":"0000-0002-2820-9178","last_name":"Goller","id":"30984","full_name":"Goller, Michael","first_name":"Michael"}]},{"issue":"4","page":"1407-1456","volume":20,"type":"journal_article","publication":"Review of Accounting Studies","keyword":["Accounting regulation","IFRS","Accounting quality","Public and private debt markets","Cost of debt"],"user_id":"54068","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"We examine whether the mandated introduction of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is associated with the propensity to access the public rather than private debt market and the cost of debt. We use a global sample of public bonds and private loans and find that mandatory IFRS adopters are more likely, post-IFRS, to issue bonds than to borrow privately. We also find that mandatory IFRS adopters pay lower bond yield spreads, but not lower loan spreads, after the mandate. These findings are consistent with debt providers responding positively to financial reporting of higher quality and comparability, but only when there is a greater reliance on publicly available financial statements than private communication. Lastly, we document that the observed debt market benefits are concentrated in countries with larger differences between domestic GAAP and IFRS and are present even for EU countries that did not experience concurrent financial reporting enforcement or other institutional reforms. One of the most important approaches is the implementation of lightweight constructions. Therefore, the usage of high performance materials with tailored properties gains importance. For safety-relevant components such as automotive passenger cells it is necessary to minimize deformation to reduce the risk of injury for the vehicle occupants during a car accident. Thus, hot stamped high-strength steels have been established. High-strength and low formability of this kind of materials represent new challenges for joining technologies. One possibility to join high-strength steels is the newly developed shear-clinching technology. Due to the use of a combined cutting and joining process, the connection of dissimilar materials with high difference in strength and formability can be achieved. Further research to ensure process reliability and to improve the strength of the joint is required. One possible approach for this is the numerical investigation of the material flow during the joining process. Therefore, the definition of process parameters for the finite element model is necessary. A big impact on the quality of the results has the accuracy of the used friction values. As established testing methods are not suitable for modeling the rather complex tribological system between the joining partners of the shear-clinching process, an innovative testing method is needed. Studies in the field of sheet-bulk metal forming already demonstrated the applicability of the ring compression test for sheet metals. This paper presents a concept for the adaption of the ring compression test to the specific needs of the investigated shear-clinching process. The numerical identification of the friction coefficients is validated by experimental data and first results are qualified by experimental and simulative shear-clinching joints.","lang":"eng"}],"doi":"10.4028/www.scientific.net/kem.639.469","title":"Development of a Testing Method for the Identification of Friction Coefficients for Numerical Modeling of the Shear-Clinching Process","keyword":["Mechanical Engineering","Mechanics of Materials","General Materials Science"],"user_id":"53912","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"year":"2015","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1662-9795"]},"status":"public","date_created":"2023-04-03T08:34:03Z","publisher":"Trans Tech Publications, Ltd.","date_updated":"2023-04-03T08:34:30Z","_id":"43369","intvolume":" 639","author":[{"full_name":"Müller, Martin","first_name":"Martin","last_name":"Müller"},{"first_name":"Ulrich","full_name":"Vierzigmann, Ulrich","last_name":"Vierzigmann"},{"last_name":"Hörhold","first_name":"Réjane","full_name":"Hörhold, Réjane"},{"last_name":"Meschut","first_name":"Gerson","full_name":"Meschut, Gerson"},{"last_name":"Merklein","first_name":"Marion","full_name":"Merklein, Marion"}],"department":[{"_id":"157"}],"citation":{"ama":"Müller M, Vierzigmann U, Hörhold R, Meschut G, Merklein M. Estimating the MV of private companies for tax purposes is a challenging task for tax authorities as MVs are not available. In this study, I empirically analyse to what extent an accounting-based tax valuation method for private companies, a simplified residual income model, succeeds in matching the MV. I refer to the mandatory Standardised Combination Model that is a special case of methods commonly used in several countries. In the absence of market prices for private companies, I use a sample of small German public companies as a proxy. I validate this approach using a sensitivity analysis that involves matching the sample of public companies with that of private companies. The results imply that the mandatory Standardised Combination Model leads to a severe unequal treatment not only between public and private companies but also among private companies across and within industries. Furthermore, I simulate the effects of variation in the key parameters and highlight their impact on the approximation quality of the Standardised Combination Method. The findings are relevant to tax reform discussions as well as to tax policy-makers and practitioners in many countries."}],"author":[{"id":"1245","last_name":"Müller","first_name":"Jens","full_name":"Müller, Jens"}],"article_type":"original","title":"The challenge of assessing the market value of private companies using a standardised combination method for tax purposes--Lessons to be learnt from past experience","issue":"1","date_updated":"2022-01-06T06:59:30Z","page":"117--141","_id":"3699","status":"public","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"type":"journal_article","year":"2014","date_created":"2018-07-25T07:53:11Z","publication":"European Accounting Review"},{"date_updated":"2022-01-06T07:01:18Z","_id":"4697","page":"59--68","status":"public","type":"journal_article","publication_identifier":{"isbn":["0360-1315"],"issn":["03601315"]},"year":"2014","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication":"Computers and Education","date_created":"2018-10-12T08:30:44Z","user_id":"72849","keyword":["Augmented reality","Cognitive theory of multimedia learning","Field experiment","Informal learning","Museum"],"citation":{"short":"P. Each speaker is identified by a variational expectation maximization (VEM) algorithm for complex Watson mixture models and therefore directly yields beamforming vectors for a subsequent speech separation process. An observation selection criterion is proposed which improves the robustness of the source counting in noise. The algorithm is compared to an alternative VEM approach with Gaussian mixture models based on directions of arrival and shown to deliver improved source counting accuracy. The article concludes by extending the offline algorithm towards a low-latency online estimation of the number of active sources from the streaming input data.","lang":"eng"}]},{"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1387-1811"]},"year":"2014","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"status":"public","date_created":"2023-01-31T14:45:24Z","publisher":"Elsevier BV","date_updated":"2023-01-31T14:48:17Z","_id":"41224","intvolume":" 194","author":[{"last_name":"Keceli","full_name":"Keceli, E.","first_name":"E."},{"last_name":"Hemgesberg","full_name":"Hemgesberg, M.","first_name":"M."},{"last_name":"Grünker","first_name":"R.","full_name":"Grünker, R."},{"last_name":"Bon","full_name":"Bon, V.","first_name":"V."},{"first_name":"C.","full_name":"Wilhelm, C.","last_name":"Wilhelm"},{"last_name":"Philippi","first_name":"T.","full_name":"Philippi, T."},{"last_name":"Schoch","id":"48467","full_name":"Schoch, Roland","first_name":"Roland","orcid":"0000-0003-2061-7289"},{"last_name":"Sun","full_name":"Sun, Y.","first_name":"Y."},{"first_name":"Matthias","full_name":"Bauer, Matthias","id":"47241","last_name":"Bauer","orcid":"0000-0002-9294-6076"},{"last_name":"Ernst","first_name":"S.","full_name":"Ernst, S."},{"full_name":"Kaskel, S.","first_name":"S.","last_name":"Kaskel"},{"last_name":"Thiel","full_name":"Thiel, Werner R.","first_name":"Werner R."}],"department":[{"_id":"306"}],"citation":{"short":"E.
