text: While the Information Systems (IS) discipline has researched digital platforms
extensively, the body of knowledge appertaining to platforms still appears fragmented
and lacking conceptual consistency. Based on automated text mining and unsupervised
machine learning, we collect, analyze, and interpret the IS discipline’s comprehensive
research on platforms—comprising 11,049 papers spanning 44 years of research activity.
From a cluster analysis concerning platform concepts’ semantically most similar
words, we identify six research streams on platforms, each with their own platform
terms. Based on interpreting the identified concepts vis-à-vis the extant research
and considering a temporal perspective on the concepts’ application, we present
a lexicon of platform concepts, to guide further research on platforms in the
IS discipline. Researchers and managers can build on our results to position their
work appropriately, applying a specific theoretical perspective on platforms in
isolation or combining multiple perspectives to study platform phenomena at a
    more abstract level.

text: The free exciton transition (near-band-edge emission, NBE) of ZnO at ≈388
nm can be strongly enhanced and even stimulated by an underlying photonic structure.
1D Photonic crystals, so-called distributed Bragg reflectors, are utilized to
suppress the deep-level emission of ZnO (DLE, ≈500–530 nm). The reflector stacks
are fabricated in a layer-by-layer procedure by wet-chemical synthesis. They consist
of low-ε porous SiO2 layers and high-ε TiO2 layers. Varying the thickness of the
SiO2 layers allows tuning the optical bandgap in a wide range between ≈420 and
800 nm. A ZnO layer is deposited on top of the reflector stacks by sol–gel synthesis.
The spontaneous photoluminescence (PL) emission of the ZnO film is modulated by
the photonic structure. When the optical bandgap of the reflector is in resonance
with the deep-level emission of ZnO (DLE, ≈500–530 nm), then this defect-related
emission mode is suppressed. Strong NBE emission is observed even when the ZnO
layer does not show any NBE emission (due to low crystallinity) in the absence
of the photonic structure. With this cost-efficient synthesis method, emitters
for, e.g., luminescent gas sensors can be fabricated.

  text:
Clinching is a cost efficient method for joining components in series
production. To assure the clinch point’s quality, the force displacement curve
during clinching or the bottom thickness are monitored. The most significant geometrical
characteristics of the clinch point, neck thickness and undercut, are usually
tested destructively by microsectioning. However, micrograph preparation goes
ahead with a resetting of elastic deformations and crack-closing after unloading.
To generate a comprehensive knowledge of the clinch point’s inner geometry under
load, in-situ computed tomography (CT) and acoustic testing (TDA) can be combined.
While the TDA is highly sensitive to the inner state of the clinch point, it could
detect critical events like crack development during loading. If such events are
indicated, the loading process is stopped and a stepped in-situ CT of the following
crack and deformation development is performed. In this paper, the concept is
applied to the process of clinching itself, providing a detailed three-dimensional
insight in the development of the joining zone. A test set-up is used which allows
a stepwise clinching of two aluminium sheets EN AW 6014. Furthermore, this set-up
is positioned within a CT system. In order to minimize X-ray absorption, a beryllium
cylinder is used within the set-up frame and clinching tools are made from Si3N4.
The actuator and sensor necessary for the TDA are integrated in the set-up. In
regular process steps, the clinching process is interrupted in order to perform
a TDA and a CT scan. In order to enhance the visibility of the interface, a thin
tin layer is positioned between the sheets prior clinching. It is shown, that
the test-set up allows a monitoring of the dynamic behaviour of the specimen during
clinching while the CT scans visualize the inner geometry and material flow non-destructively.

text: n 1789, Eberhard repudiated Kant’s claim expressed in the first edition of
his Critique of Pure Reason to have delivered a new, namely transcendental turn
in philosophy, as he was able to retrace our cognition to the origin of phenomena
instead of delivering a “merely logical deduction”. Eberhard holds that there
was nothing new, but all delivered in Leibniz and Wolff; to prove his claim he
refers to a quote from Du Châtelet, taken from a paragraph where she determines
the right understanding as to be able “to penetrate to the origin of phenomena”.
This paper brings Du Châtelet into discourse with Kant via this Eberhard quote.
In its first part, it investigates the use of her quote in the Kant-Eberhard controversy.
The second part serves to ground the quote in Du Châtelet’s epistemology. It lays
out how to understand Du Châtelet’s claim to penetrate to the origin of phenomena.
Du Châtelet’s claim to have renewed philosophy must be taken seriously, and it
is helpful for rethinking the German philosophical development from the rationalists
to Kant through including Du Châtelet’s theory of cognition.

text: In this publication a novel method for far-field prediction from magnetic
Huygens box data based on the boundary element method (BEM) is presented. Two
examples are considered for the validation of this method. The first example represents
an electric dipole so that the obtained calculations can be compared to an analytical
solution. As a second example, a printed circuit board is considered and the calculated
far-field is compared to a fullwave simulation. In both cases, the calculations
for different field integral equations are under comparison, and the results indicate
that the presented method performs very well with a combined field integral equation,
for the specified problem, when only magnetic Huygens box data is given.

  text:
During resistance spot welding of zinc-coated advanced high-strength
steels (AHSSs) for automotive production, liquid metal embrittlement (LME) cracking
may occur in the event of a combination of various unfavorable influences. In
this study, the interactions of different welding current levels and weld times
on the tendency for LME cracking in third-generation AHSSs were investigated.
LME manifested itself as high-penetration cracks around the circumference of the
spot welds for welding currents closely below the expulsion limit. At the same
time, the observed tendency for LME cracking showed no direct correlation with
the overall heat input of the investigated welding processes. To identify a reliable
indicator of the tendency for LME cracking, the local strain rate at the origin
of the observed cracks was analyzed over the course of the welding process via
finite element simulation. While the local strain rate showed a good correlation
with the process-specific LME cracking tendency, it was difficult to interpret
due to its discontinuous course. Therefore, based on the experimental measurement
of electrode displacement during welding, electrode indentation velocity was proposed
as a descriptive indicator for quantifying cracking tendency.

text: Mechanical joining processes are an essential part of modern lightweight construction.
They permit materials of different types to be joined in a way that is suitable
for the loads involved. These processes reach their limits, however, as soon as
the boundary conditions change. In most cases, these elements are specially adapted
to the joining point and cannot be used universally. Changes require cost-intensive
adaptation of both the element and the process control, thus making production
more complex. This results in high costs due to the increased number of auxiliary
joining element variants required and reduces the economic efficiency of mechanical
joining. One approach to overcoming this issue is the use of adaptive auxiliary
joining elements formed by friction spinning. This article presents the current
state of research on pre-hole-free joining with adaptive joining elements. The
overall process chain is illustrated, explained and analyzed. Special attention
is paid to demonstrating the feasibility of pre-hole-free joining with adaptive
joining elements. The chosen mechanical parameters are subsequently listed. Finally,
a comprehensive outlook of the future development potential is derived.

text: In this publication, further elements of the newly developed inductive localization
in the near field are presented. The advantage of inductive localization is the
usage of the magnetic fields, which have a very low influence of non-metallic
materials in the environment and thus follows good applications in the area of
medicine and biochemistry. This allows a precise localization of sensor platforms
in inhomogeneous mixtures of materials, where classical methods have major problems
with inhomogeneous dielectric conductivity or density. The calculation of the
localization of the searched object differs from other methods such as ultrasound
or electromagnetic waves due to the source-free propagation of the magnetic field.
Therefore, new mathematical evaluation methods and systematic adaptations are
necessary, which are presented in this paper in circuit analysis. For this purpose,
the exact circuit influences of one coil and the influence of another coil are
investigated and which resonance circuit should be selected for both coils for
a inductive localization with optimized signal strength.

text: "This collection of essays presents new work on women’s contribution to philosophy
between the Renaissance and the mid-eighteenth century. They bring a new perspective
to the history of philosophy, by highlighting women’s contributions to philosophy
and testifying to the rich history of women’s thought in this period.\r\n\r\nBy
showing that women were active in many branches of philosophy (metaphysics, science,
political philosophy cosmology, ontology, epistemology) the book testifies to
the rich history of women’s thought across Europe in this period. The scope of
the collection is international, both in terms of the philosophers represented
and the contributors themselves from Britain and North America, but also from
continental Europe and from as far afield as Australia and Brazil. The philosophers
discussed here include both figures who have recently come to be better known
(Elisabeth of Bohemia, Anne Conway, Mary Astell, Catharine Trotter Cockburn, Emilie
du Châtelet), and less familiar figures (Moderata Fonte, Lucrezia Marinella Arcangela
Tarabotti, Tullia d’Aragona, Madame Deshoulières, Madame de Sablé, Angélique de
Saint-Jean Arnauld d’Andilly, Olivia Sabuco, Susanna Newcome).\r\n\r\nThe chapters
in this book were originally published as a special issue of the British Journal
    for the History of Philosophy."
