abstract = {{We study the predictive ability of individual analyst target price changes for post-event abnormal stock returns within each recommendation category. Although prior studies generally demonstrate the investment value of target prices, we find that target price changes do not cause abnormal returns within each recommendation level. Instead, contradictory analyst signals (e.g., strong buy reiterations with large target price decreases) neutralize each other, whereas confirmatory signals reinforce each other. Further, our analysis reveals that large target price downgrades can be explained by preceding stock price decreases. However, upgrades are not preceded by stock price increases, thereby demonstrating asymmetric analyst behavior when adjusting target prices to stock prices. Our results suggest that investors should treat recommendations with caution when they are issued with large contradictory target price changes. Thus, instead of blindly following a recommendation, investors might put more weight on the change in the corresponding target price and consider transaction costs.}},

abstract = {{In this work, an observation model for the joint compensation of noise and reverberation in the logarithmic mel power spectral density domain is considered. It relates the features of the noisy reverberant speech to those of the non-reverberant speech and the noise. In contrast to enhancement of features only corrupted by reverberation (reverberant features), enhancement of noisy reverberant features requires a more sophisticated model for the error introduced by the proposed observation model. In a first consideration, it will be shown that this error is highly dependent on the instantaneous ratio of the power of reverberant speech to the power of the noise and, moreover, sensitive to the phase between reverberant speech and noise in the short-time discrete Fourier domain. Afterwards, a statistically motivated approach will be presented allowing for the model of the observation error to be inferred from the error model previously used for the reverberation only case. Finally, the developed observation error model will be utilized in a Bayesian feature enhancement scheme, leading to improvements in word accuracy on the AURORA5 database.}},

H NMR spectroscopy. The transformation from multilamellar vesicles (MLVs) to aligned planar lamellae is accompanied by a transient gradient shear banding. A high-shear-rate band of aligned lamellae forms next to the moving inner wall of the cylindrical Couette shear cell while a low-shear-rate band of the initial MLV structure remains close to the outer stationary wall. The band of layers grows at the expense of the band of MLVs until the transformation is completed. This process scales with the applied strain. Wall slip is a characteristic of the MLV state, while aligned layers show no deviation from Newtonian flow. The homogeneous nature of the opposite transformation from well aligned layers to MLVs via an intermediate structure resembling undulated multilamellar cylinders is confirmed. The strain dependence of this transformation appears to be independent of temperature. The shear diagram, which represents the shear-induced structures as a function of temperature and shear rate, contains a transition region between stable layers and stable MLVs. The steady-state structures in the transition region show a continuous change from layer-like at high temperature to MLV-like at lower temperature. These structures are homogeneous on a length scale above a few micrometers.
}},
