Here we show that in high-gain parametric down-conversion, one can overcome the destructive role of both effects and even turn them into useful tools for shaping the emission. In our experiment, one of the twin beams is emitted along the pump Poynting vector or its group velocity matches that of the pump. The result is markedly enhanced generation of both twin beams, with the simultaneous narrowing of angular and frequency spectrum. The effect will enable efficient generation of ultrafast twin photons and beams in cavities, waveguides and whispering-gallery mode resonators.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Nature Communications","issue":"1","volume":6,"user_id":"16199","_id":"40394","publisher":"Springer Science and Business Media LLC","status":"public","citation":{"ama":"Pérez AM, Spasibko KY, Sharapova P, Tikhonova OV, Leuchs G, Chekhova MV. We use a global sample of public bonds and private loans and find that mandatory IFRS adopters are more likely, post-IFRS, to issue bonds than to borrow privately. We also find that mandatory IFRS adopters pay lower bond yield spreads, but not lower loan spreads, after the mandate. These findings are consistent with debt providers responding positively to financial reporting of higher quality and comparability, but only when there is a greater reliance on publicly available financial statements than private communication. Lastly, we document that the observed debt market benefits are concentrated in countries with larger differences between domestic GAAP and IFRS and are present even for EU countries that did not experience concurrent financial reporting enforcement or other institutional reforms. Overall, our study documents positive economic consequences around the mandated IFRS adoption for corporate debt financing and, in particular, for bond financing."}],"issue":"4","publication":"Review of Accounting Studies","department":[{"_id":"551"},{"_id":"635"},{"_id":"186"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Accounting regulation","IFRS","Accounting quality","Public and private debt markets","Cost of debt"],"date_created":"2018-08-22T07:47:41Z"},{"date_updated":"2019-05-20T13:12:27Z","author":[{"full_name":"Kimotho, James Kuria ","last_name":"Kimotho","first_name":"James Kuria "},{"last_name":"Meyer","first_name":"Tobias","full_name":"Meyer, Tobias"},{"id":"21220","full_name":"Sextro, Walter","last_name":"Sextro","first_name":"Walter"}],"title":"PEM fuel cell prognostics using particle filter with model parameter adaptation","status":"public","year":"2014","doi":"10.1109/ICPHM.2014.7036406","user_id":"55222","_id":"9879","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"page":"1-6","abstract":[{"text":"Application of prognostics and health management (PHM) in the field of Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cells is emerging as an important tool in increasing the reliability and availability of these systems. Though a lot of work is currently being conducted to develop PHM systems for fuel cells, various challenges have been encountered including the self-healing effect after characterization as well as accelerated degradation due to dynamic loading, all which make RUL predictions a difficult task. In this study, a prognostic approach based on adaptive particle filter algorithm is proposed. The novelty of the proposed method lies in the introduction of a self-healing factor after each characterization and the adaption of the degradation model parameters to fit to the changing degradation trend. An ensemble of five different state models based on weighted mean is then developed. The results show that the method is effective in estimating the remaining useful life of PEM fuel cells, with majority of the predictions falling within 5\\% error. The method was employed in the IEEE 2014 PHM Data Challenge and led to our team emerging the winner of the RUL category of the challenge.","lang":"eng"}],"citation":{"ieee":"J. K. Kimotho, T. Gaining insight into the complex interaction between clean speech, noise, and noisy reverberant speech features is essential for any ASR system to be robust against noise and reverberation present in distant microphone input signals. The findings are gathered in a probabilistic formulation of an observation model which may be used in model-based feature compensation schemes. The proposed observation model extends previous models in three major directions: First, the contribution of additive background noise to the observation error is explicitly taken into account. Second, an energy compensation constant is introduced which ensures an unbiased estimate of the reverberant speech features, and, third, a recursive variant of the observation model is developed resulting in reduced computational complexity when used in model-based feature compensation. The experimental section is used to evaluate the accuracy of the model and to describe how its parameters can be determined from test data.","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"1","publication":"IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing","volume":22,"user_id":"44006","_id":"11861","page":"95-109","status":"public","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Leutnant_Krueger_Haeb-Umbach_2014, title={A New Observation Model in the Logarithmic Mel Power Spectral Domain for the Automatic Recognition of Noisy Reverberant Speech}, volume={22}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1109/TASLP.2013.2285480\">10.1109/TASLP.2013.2285480</a>}, number={1}, journal={IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing}, author={Leutnant, Volker and Krueger, Alexander and Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold}, year={2014}, pages={95–109} }","ama":"Leutnant V, Krueger A, Haeb-Umbach R. A sample of 41 German adult children aged 20–45 years and their 39 mothers and 19 fathers were videotaped in dyadic conflict discourse. The interactions were coded in their entirety, and scales were allocated to the factor connectedness, individuality, and conflict. Group comparisons show that mothers and fathers do not differ. Middle-aged adults interacted in a more individuated manner than young adults. Their mothers interacted in a way that was more connected and less conflictual than mothers in interactions with younger adults; their fathers, on the other hand, interacted more conflictual. The behavior of adult children and their parents did not differ and so expressed a high amount of behavioral symmetry. Associations between the self-report about the relationship and family members’ behavior point to verbal interaction as a means for negotiating the relationship.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2022-08-03T00:26:45Z","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Life-span and Life-course Studies","Developmental and Educational Psychology","Experimental and Cognitive Psychology"],"department":[{"_id":"427"}]},{"issue":"4","publication":"European Journal of Applied Physiology","extern":"1","date_created":"2022-09-15T09:36:45Z","keyword":["Physiology (medical)","Public Health","Environmental and Occupational Health","Orthopedics and Sports Medicine","General Medicine","Public Health","Environmental and Occupational Health","Physiology"],"type":"journal_article","author":[{"full_name":"Mulder, E.","last_name":"Mulder","first_name":"E."},{"full_name":"Clément, G.","last_name":"Clément","first_name":"G."},{"full_name":"Linnarsson, D.","last_name":"Linnarsson","first_name":"D."},{"full_name":"Paloski, W. Regarding the ontogenesis of literary research discourse over the past 50 years, Käte Hamburger’s “The Logic of Poetry” (original “Die Logik der Dichtung”, 1957) is a work that has fundamentally shaped the research discourse. But not only within the field of literary studies has the subject of “tense and narration” has been received and discussed – also the field of linguistics also demonstrates an intensive engagement with the subject of narration (cf. e. g. Weinrich 1964, Ehlich 1980) and tense. For example, Rolf Thieroffs monograph “The finite Verb in German: Tense – Mood – Distance” (original “Das finite Verb im Deutschen: Tempus – Modus – Distanz”, 1992) elaborates a conceptualisation of the German temporal system with reference to Weinrich’s representation of time in fiction and non-fiction texts (cf. Thieroff 1992, 298). This contribution joins at the interface between linguistic research on tenses and literary research on narration. The aim is to show that there is an interaction between choice of tense and narrative context, or, in other words: the use of different tenses activates different states of consciousness, and thereby different ‘forms’ of narration are created. The latter are captured from empirical data arising from language acquisition and speech genesis as well as, in accordance with Iser (1991) and Sartre (1940/1994), not in a dichotomic fashion but as a trias-system, and are opened for discussion. The remodeling does not regard the two poles of “everyday narration” and “literary narration” as contrasting, but rather as a continuum, which can show transitions relative to the genre of the text and the speech competence of the narrator.
","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"1","publication":"Zeitschrift für germanistische Linguistik","department":[{"_id":"36"},{"_id":"5"},{"_id":"463"}],"keyword":["Linguistics and Language","Developmental and Educational Psychology","Language and Linguistics"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-08-07T08:55:10Z","file":[{"date_created":"2023-12-08T16:01:00Z","creator":"topal","success":1,"content_type":"application/pdf","file_id":"49557","date_updated":"2023-12-08T16:01:00Z","relation":"main_file","file_size":223776,"access_level":"closed","file_name":"TOPALOVIC-UHL-2014-Linguistik-literarisches-Erzhlen.pdf"}]}]
