So far, less attention has been paid to teaching Open Science in bachelor’s degrees or in qualitative methods. Therefore, the aim of this article is to use a seminar example to explore what Open Science practices can be taught in qualitative research and how digital tools can be involved. The seminar focused on the following practices: Open data practices, the practice of using the free and open source tool “Collaborative online Interpretation, the practice of participating, cooperating, collaborating and contributing through participatory technologies and in social (based) networks. To learn Open Science practices, the students were involved in a qualitative research project about “Use of digital technologies for the study and habitus of students”. The study shows the practices of Open Data are easy to teach, whereas the use of free and open source tools and participatory technologies for collaboration, participation, cooperation and contribution is more difficult. In addition, a cultural shift would have to take place within German universities to promote Open Science practices in general.
"}],"extern":"1"},{"date_updated":"2022-09-15T09:48:23Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 120","year":"2020","title":"Effects of 21 days of bed rest and whey protein supplementation on plantar flexor muscle fatigue resistance during repeated shortening contractions","author":[{"full_name":"Bosutti, Alessandra","last_name":"Bosutti","first_name":"Alessandra"},{"last_name":"Mulder","first_name":"Edwin","full_name":"Mulder, Edwin"},{"first_name":"Jochen","last_name":"Zange","full_name":"Zange, Jochen"},{"first_name":"Judith","last_name":"Bühlmeier","full_name":"Bühlmeier, Judith","id":"89838"},{"full_name":"Ganse, Bergita","last_name":"Ganse","first_name":"Bergita"},{"full_name":"Degens, Hans","first_name":"Hans","last_name":"Degens"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1439-6319","1439-6327"]},"doi":"10.1007/s00421-020-04333-5","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"abstract":[{"text":"
Abstract
\r\n
Purpose
\r\n
Space flight and bed rest (BR) lead to a rapid decline in exercise capacity.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Zeitschrift für Pädagogische Psychologie","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Developmental and Educational Psychology"],"date_created":"2022-09-17T09:18:42Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2022-09-17T09:23:22Z","author":[{"full_name":"Knickenberg, Margarita","last_name":"Knickenberg","first_name":"Margarita","id":"12978"},{"full_name":"Zurbriggen, Carmen","last_name":"Zurbriggen","first_name":"Carmen"},{"last_name":"Schmidt","first_name":"Philipp","full_name":"Schmidt, Philipp"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1010-0652","1664-2910"]},"year":"2020","title":"Peers als Quelle aktueller Motivation?","alternative_title":["Wie Jugendliche mit heterogenen Verhaltensweisen Peerinteraktionen in Abhängigkeit des behavioralen Klassenumfeldes erleben"],"doi":"10.1024/1010-0652/a000292","language":[{"iso":"ger"}]},{"article_number":"148085","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1016/j.apsusc.2020.148085","title":"Effects of KF and RbF treatments on Cu(In,Ga)Se2-based solar cells: A combined photoelectron spectroscopy and DFT study","year":"2020","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0169-4332"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Majumdar","first_name":"I.","full_name":"Majumdar, I."},{"first_name":"S.K.","last_name":"Sahoo","full_name":"Sahoo, S.K."},{"full_name":"Parvan, V.","first_name":"V.","last_name":"Parvan"},{"id":"71051","full_name":"Mirhosseini, Hossein","last_name":"Mirhosseini","first_name":"Hossein","orcid":"0000-0001-6179-1545"},{"full_name":"Chacko, B.","last_name":"Chacko","first_name":"B."},{"full_name":"Wang, Y.","last_name":"Wang","first_name":"Y."},{"full_name":"Greiner, D.","last_name":"Greiner","first_name":"D."},{"full_name":"Kühne, Thomas","last_name":"Kühne","first_name":"Thomas","id":"49079"},{"first_name":"R.","last_name":"Schlatmann","full_name":"Schlatmann, R."},{"full_name":"Lauermann, I.","first_name":"I.","last_name":"Lauermann"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2022-10-10T08:13:14Z","intvolume":" 538","date_created":"2022-10-10T08:12:36Z","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Surfaces","Coatings and Films","Condensed Matter Physics","Surfaces and Interfaces","General Physics and Astronomy","General Chemistry"],"department":[{"_id":"613"}],"publication":"Applied Surface Science","_id":"33646","publisher":"Elsevier BV","user_id":"71051","volume":538,"status":"public","citation":{"ieee":"I. An increasing bidirectional energy flow stresses the assets of the distribution grid, especially medium voltage switchgear. This calls for improved maintenance strategies to prevent critical failures. Predictive maintenance, a maintenance strategy relying on current condition data of assets, serves as a guideline. Novel sensors covering thermal, mechanical, and partial discharge aspects of switchgear, enable continuous condition monitoring of some of the most critical assets of the distribution grid. Combined with machine learning algorithms, the demands put on the distribution grid by the energy and mobility revolutions can be handled. In this paper, we review the current state-of-the-art of all aspects of condition monitoring for medium voltage switchgear. Furthermore, we present an approach to develop a predictive maintenance system based on novel sensors and machine learning. We show how the existing medium voltage grid infrastructure can adapt these new needs on an economic scale.
"}],"date_created":"2023-01-10T09:39:14Z","department":[{"_id":"526"}],"keyword":["Electrical and Electronic Engineering","Biochemistry","Instrumentation","Atomic and Molecular Physics","and Optics","Analytical Chemistry"],"type":"journal_article","author":[{"last_name":"Hoffmann","first_name":"Martin W.","full_name":"Hoffmann, Martin W."},{"full_name":"Wildermuth, Stephan","first_name":"Stephan","last_name":"Wildermuth"},{"full_name":"Gitzel, Ralf","last_name":"Gitzel","first_name":"Ralf"},{"full_name":"Boyaci, Aydin","last_name":"Boyaci","first_name":"Aydin"},{"first_name":"Jörg","last_name":"Gebhardt","full_name":"Gebhardt, Jörg"},{"first_name":"Holger","last_name":"Kaul","full_name":"Kaul, Holger"},{"full_name":"Amihai, Ido","last_name":"Amihai","first_name":"Ido"},{"full_name":"Forg, Bodo","first_name":"Bodo","last_name":"Forg"},{"last_name":"Suriyah","first_name":"Michael","full_name":"Suriyah, Michael"},{"full_name":"Leibfried, Thomas","first_name":"Thomas","last_name":"Leibfried"},{"full_name":"Stich, Volker","last_name":"Stich","first_name":"Volker"},{"last_name":"Hicking","first_name":"Jan","full_name":"Hicking, Jan"},{"last_name":"Bremer","first_name":"Martin","full_name":"Bremer, Martin"},{"last_name":"Kaminski","first_name":"Lars","full_name":"Kaminski, Lars"},{"full_name":"Beverungen, Daniel","last_name":"Beverungen","first_name":"Daniel","id":"59677"},{"first_name":"Philipp","last_name":"zur Heiden","full_name":"zur Heiden, Philipp","id":"64394"},{"first_name":"Tanja","last_name":"Tornede","full_name":"Tornede, Tanja"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1424-8220"]},"title":"Integration of Novel Sensors and Machine Learning for Predictive Maintenance in Medium Voltage Switchgear to Enable the Energy and Mobility Revolutions","year":"2020","intvolume":" 20","date_updated":"2023-01-10T09:53:13Z","publication_status":"published","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"2099","doi":"10.3390/s20072099"},{"publication":"Physical Review Materials","issue":"1","keyword":["Physics and Astronomy (miscellaneous)","General Materials Science"],"type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"230"}],"date_created":"2022-11-15T14:21:41Z","date_updated":"2023-01-10T12:12:13Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 4","year":"2020","title":"Strain-driven InAs island growth on top of GaAs(111) nanopillars","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2475-9953"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Riedl, Thomas","first_name":"Thomas","last_name":"Riedl","id":"36950"},{"first_name":"V. It is expected to bring such far-reaching changes in society and the working environment that it is often described as digital revolution. At the same time, dealing with these changes raises many unresolved questions. These include considerations on the substitution potential of human labor through digitalization, the question of how the role of humans in digitalized work may be shaped and, finally, considerations on how to prepare and support employees in the digital transformation. This article provides information about the dimensions of digitization and the lines of development currently under discussion; it also addresses the resulting challenges and effects on industrial work and employees. Finally, implications for the vocational and general education are discussed.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Digitalisierung am Übergang Schule Beruf Ansätze und Perspektiven in Arbeitsdomänen und beruflicher Förderung","type":"book_chapter","keyword":["Digitalisierung","Industrie 4.0","Arbeit 4.0","berufliche Aus- und Weiterbildung","allgemeine Bildung / digitalization","industry 4.0","work 4.0","vocational education and training","general education"],"date_created":"2023-01-10T12:39:26Z","intvolume":" 56","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-01-10T12:39:31Z","publication_identifier":{"isbn":["978-3-7639-6158-0"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Berisha-Gawlowski","first_name":"Angelina ","full_name":"Berisha-Gawlowski, Angelina "},{"first_name":"Carina","last_name":"Caruso","full_name":"Caruso, Carina","id":"23123"},{"full_name":"Goller, Michael","first_name":"Michael","orcid":"0000-0002-2820-9178","last_name":"Goller","id":"30984"},{"id":"27503","full_name":"Harteis, Christian","first_name":"Christian","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3570-7626","last_name":"Harteis"}],"year":"2020","title":"Auswirkungen der Digitalisierung industrieller Arbeit auf die berufliche und allgemeine Bildung","doi":"10.3278/6004725w","language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"series_title":"Berufsbildung, Arbeit und Innovation","citation":{"mla":"Berisha-Gawlowski, Angelina, et al. “Auswirkungen der Digitalisierung industrieller Arbeit auf die berufliche und allgemeine Bildung.” <i>Digitalisierung am Übergang Schule Beruf Ansätze und Perspektiven in Arbeitsdomänen und beruflicher Förderung</i>, edited by Dietmar Heisler and Jörg Meier, vol. 56, wbv, 2020, pp. 33–51, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3278/6004725w\">10.3278/6004725w</a>.","ama":"Berisha-Gawlowski A, Caruso C, Goller M, Harteis C. Small and medium sized brick-and- mortar stores, such as bakeries, butcher and flower shops, often share a common overarching loyalty program, organized by a third-party provider. Furthermore, these small shops have limited resources and often cannot afford complex BI tools. Out of these reasons we investigated how traditional brick-and- mortar stores can benefit from an expansion of service functionalities of a loyalty card provider. To answer this question, we cooperated with a cross-industry customer loyalty program in a polycentric region. The loyalty program was transformed from simple card-based solution to a mobile app for customers and a web- application for shop owners. The new solution offers additional BI services for performing data analytics and strengthening the position of brick-and-mortar stores. Participating shops can work together in order to increase sales and align marketing campaigns. Therefore, shopping data from 12 years, 55 shops, and 19,000 customers was analyzed."}],"date_created":"2023-01-10T08:39:45Z","type":"conference","keyword":["brick-and-mortar stores","business intelligence","case study","loyalty program"],"department":[{"_id":"195"},{"_id":"196"}],"year":"2020","title":"Extending Loyalty Programs with BI Functionalities A Case Study for Brick-and-Mortar Stores","status":"public","conference":{"name":"53th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS-53)"},"author":[{"id":"77066","first_name":"Jan-Peter","last_name":"Kucklick","full_name":"Kucklick, Jan-Peter"},{"full_name":"Kamm, Michael Reiner","last_name":"Kamm","first_name":"Michael Reiner"},{"full_name":"Schneider, Johannes","first_name":"Johannes","last_name":"Schneider"},{"full_name":"vom Brocke, Jan","last_name":"vom Brocke","first_name":"Jan"}],"date_updated":"2023-01-12T05:32:16Z","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://scholarspace.manoa.hawaii.edu/server/api/core/bitstreams/335317f1-8fb6-4561-9faa-27e6a7d29771/content"}],"_id":"35660","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"user_id":"77066"},{"abstract":[{"text":"While the analysis and usage of data are increasing in importance, the application of sophisticated BI solutions in small stores is limited by available technical capabilities and financial resources. Here, a shallow-etched ridge waveguide is fabricated in x-cut magnesium oxide doped TFLN and is poled accurately over 5 mm. The high fidelity of the poling is demonstrated over long lengths using a non-destructive technique of confocal scanning second-harmonic microscopy. We report a second-harmonic conversion efficiency of up to 939 %/W (length-normalized conversion efficiency 3757 %/Wcm²), measured at telecommunications wavelengths.
