Diagonally implicit Runge–Kutta (DIRK) methods are the most popular class among the diverse family of Runge–Kutta algorithms. In this paper, the novel class of low‐order explicit last‐stage diagonally implicit Runge–Kutta (ELDIRK) methods are explored, which combine implicit schemes with an additional explicit evaluation as an explicit last stage. ELDIRK Butcher tableaus are used to control embedded RK methods to obtain solutions of different orders. The lower‐order solution is obtained by classical implicit RK stages and the higher‐order solution is obtained by additional explicit evaluation. As a result, a significant reduction in computational cost is achieved by skipping the iterative solution of nonlinear systems for the additional step. The examination of the heat problem and the use of the innovative Butcher tableau in the finite‐element method are the main contributions of this work. Thus, it is possible to establish adaptive step size control for the new low‐order embedded methods based on an empirical method for error estimation. Two‐dimensional simulations are used to show an appropriate algorithm for the ELDIRK schemes. The new Runge–Kutta schemes' predictions of higher‐order convergence are confirmed, and their successful outcomes are illustrated.
"}],"publication":"PAMM","issue":"2","department":[{"_id":"9"},{"_id":"154"},{"_id":"321"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Electrical and Electronic Engineering","Atomic and Molecular Physics","and Optics"],"date_created":"2023-10-25T10:46:57Z","intvolume":" 23","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-11-07T14:34:44Z","author":[{"last_name":"Westermann","orcid":"0000-0002-5034-9708","first_name":"Hendrik","full_name":"Westermann, Hendrik","id":"60816"},{"full_name":"Mahnken, Rolf","last_name":"Mahnken","first_name":"Rolf","id":"335"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1617-7061","1617-7061"]},"year":"2023","title":"Numerical investigations of new low‐order explicit last stage diagonal implicit Runge–Kutta schemes with the finite‐element method","doi":"10.1002/pamm.202300071","language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"volume":418,"user_id":"335","_id":"48465","publisher":"Elsevier BV","status":"public","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"mla":"Westermann, Hendrik, and Rolf Mahnken. “On the Accuracy, Stability and Computational Efficiency of Explicit Last-Stage Diagonally Implicit Runge–Kutta Methods (ELDIRK) for the Adaptive Solution of Phase-Field Problems.” <i>Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering</i>, vol. 418, 116545, Elsevier BV, 2023, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cma.2023.116545\">10.1016/j.cma.2023.116545</a>.","ama":"Westermann H, Mahnken R. However, readout and driving electronics can introduce detrimental parasitic effects. Here we show an all-optical control and readout of a superconducting nanowire single photon detector (SNSPD), completely electrically decoupled from room temperature electronics. We provide the operation power for the superconducting detector via a cryogenic photodiode, and readout single photon detection signals via a cryogenic electro-optic modulator in the same cryostat. This method opens the possibility for control and readout of superconducting circuits, and feedforward for photonic quantum computing.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Optics Express","issue":"20","user_id":"50819","volume":31,"_id":"48399","publisher":"Optica Publishing Group","status":"public","citation":{"mla":"Thiele, Frederik, et al. “All Optical Operation of a Superconducting Photonic Interface.” <i>Optics Express</i>, vol. 31, no. 20, 32717, Optica Publishing Group, 2023, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1364/oe.492035\">10.1364/oe.492035</a>.","ama":"Thiele F, Hummel T, McCaughan AN, et al. Furthermore, all facets of the relationship have not been examined equally. The contributions of this special issue made substantive progress in this regard and draw our focus to several remaining complications—in particular, the societal impacts of nonfinancial reporting. With this introduction, we seek to move the conversation forward by proposing a framework that disentangles the linkages between nonfinancial reporting and real sustainable change at multiple levels of analysis. We highlight the distinction between sustainability-related outputs and outcomes that typically materialize at the firm level, and eventually lead to sustainable impact at the societal level. Future research should advance this distinction and scrutinize the impact of real sustainable change beyond firm-level outputs, study the organizational change processes from antecedents to impacts, and examine the interrelationships between different instruments to foster real sustainable change.
"}],"issue":"1","publication":"Organization &amp; Environment","type":"journal_article","keyword":["Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management","General Environmental Science"],"department":[{"_id":"186"},{"_id":"815"},{"_id":"681"}],"date_created":"2023-10-10T10:03:43Z","status":"public","user_id":"46138","volume":36,"page":"3-16","publisher":"SAGE Publications","_id":"47921","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Hahn_Reimsbach_Wickert_2023, title={Nonfinancial Reporting and Real Sustainable Change: Relationship Status—It’s Complicated}, volume={36}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1177/10860266231151653\">10.1177/10860266231151653</a>}, number={1}, journal={Organization &#38;amp; Environment}, publisher={SAGE Publications}, author={Hahn, Rüdiger and Reimsbach, Daniel and Wickert, Christopher}, year={2023}, pages={3–16} }","chicago":"Hahn, Rüdiger, Daniel Reimsbach, and Christopher Wickert. “Nonfinancial Reporting and Real Sustainable Change: Relationship Status—It’s Complicated.” <i>Organization &#38;amp; Environment</i> 36, no. 1 (2023): 3–16. <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1177/10860266231151653\">https://doi.org/10.1177/10860266231151653</a>.","ama":"Hahn R, Reimsbach D, Wickert C. Based on objective data, benchmarks can be determined to tailor training intensity and volume. Next to average and accumulated values, the most intense periods (MIPs) during competitive FH matches are of special interest, since these quantify the peak intensities players experience throughout the intermittent matches. The aim of this study was to retrospectively compare peak intensities between training and competition sessions in a male FH team competing in the first german division.
\r\n
\r\n
Methods
\r\n
Throughout an 8-week in-season period, 372 individual activity datasets (144 datasets from competitive sessions) were recorded using the Polar Team Pro sensor (Kempele, Finland). MIPs were calculated applying a rolling window approach with predefined window length (1–5 min) and calculated for Total distance, High-Intensity-Running distance (&gt; 16 km/h), Sprinting distance (&gt; 20 km/h) and Acceleration load. Significant differences between training and competition MIPs were analysed through non-parametric statistical tests (P &lt; 0.05).
\r\n
\r\n
Results
\r\n
Analyses revealed higher MIPs during competition for all considered outcomes (P &lt; 0.001). Effect size estimation revealed strongest effects for sprinting distance (d = 1.89 to d = 1.22) and lowest effect sizes for acceleration load (d = 0.92 to d = 0.49).
\r\n
\r\n
Conclusion
\r\n
The present findings demonstrate that peak intensities during training do not reach those experienced during competitive sessions in a male FH team. Training routines such as manipulations of court-dimensions and team sizes might contribute to this discrepancy. Coaches should compare training and competition intensities to recalibrate training routines to optimize athletes’ preparation for competition.
\r\n
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise","keyword":["Nutrition and Dietetics","Rehabilitation","Orthopedics and Sports Medicine","Physical Therapy","Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation","Physiology"],"type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"17"},{"_id":"172"}],"file":[{"creator":"danieldb","date_created":"2023-12-14T15:40:09Z","date_updated":"2023-12-14T15:40:09Z","relation":"main_file","file_size":1237310,"access_level":"closed","file_name":"Büchel (2023).
