text: "At Paderborn University, an AR-based app is being developed to prepare electrical
engineering students for laboratory work. This paper aims to review the development
of AR since 2010, particularly in technical university laboratories, through a
systematic literature review. The study investigates AR's relevance in university
teaching and examines specific AR applications in laboratory settings.\r\nUsing
a mixed-method approach, the research first employs a web crawler to gather 27,249
articles from the Lens database, followed by a bibliometric analysis. Further,
Google Scholar is used to find 374 articles related to AR in scientific and technical
laboratories, with 51 significant ones evaluated for application areas, findings,
and other criteria.\r\nThe findings show that AR in education is a growing trend,
with a significant increase in publications and citations in recent years. Most
studies focus on marker-based mobile AR applications, assessing aspects like motivation
and user experience through surveys and interviews. However, there's limited research
on AR's learning effectiveness in laboratories, partly due to the scarcity of
technical equipment. One study found no significant learning impact from AR."

text: "Robot learning from humans has been proposed and researched for several decades
as a means to enable robots to learn new skills or\r\nadapt existing ones to new
situations. Recent advances in artificial intelligence, including learning approaches
like reinforcement\r\nlearning and architectures like transformers and foundation
models, combined with access to massive datasets, has created attractive\r\nopportunities
to apply those data-hungry techniques to this problem. We argue that the focus
on massive amounts of pre-collected\r\ndata, and the resulting learning paradigm,
where humans demonstrate and robots learn in isolation, is overshadowing a specialized\r\narea
of work we term Human-Interactive-Robot-Learning (HIRL). This paradigm, wherein
robots and humans interact during the\r\nlearning process, is at the intersection
of multiple fields (artificial intelligence, robotics, human-computer interaction,
design and others)\r\nand holds unique promise. Using HIRL, robots can achieve
greater sample efficiency (as humans can provide task knowledge through\r\ninteraction),
align with human preferences (as humans can guide the robot behavior towards their
expectations), and explore more\r\nmeaningfully and safely (as humans can utilize
domain knowledge to guide learning and prevent catastrophic failures). This can
result\r\nin robotic systems that can more quickly and easily adapt to new tasks
in human environments. The objective of this paper is to\r\nprovide a broad and
consistent overview of HIRL research and to guide researchers toward understanding
the scope of HIRL, and\r\ncurrent open or underexplored challenges related to
four themes — namely, human, robot learning, interaction, and broader context.\r\nThe
paper includes concrete use cases to illustrate the interaction between these
challenges and inspire further research according to\r\nbroad recommendations
and a call for action for the growing HIRL community"

text: "
Abstract
\r\n
Background
\r\n
\
An infection with SARS-CoV-2 can lead to a variety of symptoms
and complications, which can impair athletic activity.
\r\n
\r\n
\
Objective
\r\n
We aimed
to assess the clinical symptom patterns, diagnostic findings, and the extent of
impairment in sport practice in a large cohort of athletes infected with SARS-CoV-2,
both initially after infection and at follow-up. Additionally, we investigated
whether baseline factors that may contribute to reduced exercise tolerance at
follow-up can be identified.
\r\n
\r\n
\
Methods
\r\n
In this
prospective, observational, multicenter study, we recruited German COVID elite-athletes
(cEAs, n = 444) and COVID non-elite athletes (cNEAs,
n = 481) who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 by PCR
(polymerase chain reaction test). Athletes from the federal squad with no evidence
of SARS-CoV-2 infection served as healthy controls (EAcon, n = 501).
Questionnaires were used to assess load and duration of infectious symptoms, other
complaints, exercise tolerance, and duration of training interruption at baseline
and at follow-up 6 months after baseline. Diagnostic tests conducted at baseline
included resting and exercise electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiography, spirometry,
and blood analyses.
\r\n
\r\n
Results
\r\n
\
Most acute and infection-related symptoms and other complaints
were more prevalent in cNEA than in cEAs. Compared to cEAs, EAcon had a low symptom
load. In cNEAs, female athletes had a higher prevalence of complaints such as
palpitations, dizziness, chest pain, myalgia, sleeping disturbances, mood swings,
and concentration problems compared to male athletes (p < 0.05).
Until follow-up, leading symptoms were drop in performance, concentration problems,
and dyspnea on exertion. Female athletes had significantly higher prevalence for
symptoms until follow-up compared to male. Pathological findings in ECG, echocardiography,
and spirometry, attributed to SARS-CoV-2 infection, were rare in infected athletes.
Most athletes reported a training interruption between 2 and 4 weeks (cNEAs: 52.9%,
cEAs: 52.4%), while more cNEAs (27.1%) compared to cEAs (5.1%) had a training
interruption lasting more than 4 weeks (p < 0.001).
At follow-up, 13.8% of cNEAs and 9.9% of cEAs (p = 0.24)
reported their current exercise tolerance to be under 70% compared to pre-infection
state. A persistent loss of exercise tolerance at follow-up was associated with
persistent complaints at baseline, female sex, a longer break in training, and
age > 38 years. Periodical dichotomization of the data set showed a higher
prevalence of infectious symptoms such as cough, sore throat, and coryza in the
second phase of the pandemic, while a number of neuropsychiatric symptoms as well
as dyspnea on exertion were less frequent in this period.
\r\n
\r\n
\
Conclusions
\r\n
Compared
to recreational athletes, elite athletes seem to be at lower risk of being or
remaining symptomatic after SARS-CoV-2 infection. It remains to be determined
whether persistent complaints after SARS-CoV-2 infection without evidence of accompanying
organ damage may have a negative impact on further health and career in athletes.
Identifying risk factors for an extended recovery period such as female sex and
ongoing neuropsychological symptoms could help to identify athletes, who may require
a more cautious approach to rebuilding their training regimen.
\r\n
\r\n

text: 'Ferroelectric domain wall (DW) conductivity (DWC) can be attributed to two
separate mechanisms: (a) the injection/ejection of charge carriers across the
Schottky barrier formed at the (metal-)electrode-DW junction and (b) the transport
of those charge carriers along the DW. Current-voltage (I-U) characteristics,
recorded at variable temperatures from LiNbO3 (LNO) DWs, are clearly able to differentiate
between these two contributions. Practically, they allow us to directly quantify
the physical parameters relevant to the two mechanisms (a) and (b) mentioned above.
These are, for example, the resistance of the DW, the saturation current, the
ideality factor, and the Schottky barrier height of the electrode-DW junction.
Furthermore, the activation energies needed to initiate the thermally activated
electronic transport along the DWs can be extracted. In addition, we show that
electronic transport along LNO DWs can be elegantly viewed and interpreted in
an adapted semiconductor picture based on a double-diode, double-resistor equivalent-circuit
model, the R2D2 model. Finally, our R2D2 model was checked for its universality
by successfully fitting the I-U curves of not only z-cut LNO bulk DWs, but equally
of z-cut thin-film LNO DWs, and of x-cut thin-film DWs as reported in literature.'

text:
Abstract
Approximation of subdifferentials
is one of the main tasks when computing descent directions for nonsmooth optimization
problems. In this article, we propose a bisection method for weakly lower semismooth
functions which is able to compute new subgradients that improve a given approximation
in case a direction with insufficient descent was computed. Combined with a recently
proposed deterministic gradient sampling approach, this yields a deterministic
and provably convergent way to approximate subdifferentials for computing descent
directions.

text:
Abstract
Polycarbonate (PC) is an amorphous
polymer that is an extremely robust material with a high tenacity, and thus suitable
for a lightweight construction with glass‐like transparency. Due to these advantageous
properties, PC is often used in industry for example in medical devices, automotive
headlamps, sporting equipment, electronics, and a variety of other products. PC
is often subjected to uniaxial and biaxial loading conditions. Therefore, reliable
material models have to take into account the various resulting experimental effects.
For those reasons, we investigate PC specimens under uniaxial and biaxial loading
by using different stretch rates and loading scenarios. In addition to that, we
propose methods for optical measurement of local stretches to obtain the approximated
local true stress. In future work, the displacement fields and the resulting reaction
forces will be used for parameter identification of constitutive equations.

text:
Abstract
We conducted an investigation into
the palladium‐catalyzed carbon‐sulfur cross‐coupling reaction involving a 2‐bromothiophene
derivative and potassium thioacetate as a substitute for hydrogen sulfide. This
investigation utilized kinetic and computational methods. We synthesized two palladium
complexes supported by the bisphosphane ligands bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene
(DPPF) and bis(diisopropylphosphino)ferrocene (DiPPF),
as well as their tentative intermediates in the catalytic cycle. Reaction rates
were measured and then compared to computational predictions.
