  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>The intraindividual process of study
    dropout, from forming dropout intention to deregistration, is of motivational
    nature. Yet typical studies investigate interindividual differences, which do
    not inform about intraindividual processes. Our study focused on the intraindividual
    process of forming dropout intention, and applied expectancy-value theory to analyze
    its motivational underpinnings. To expand research, we considered associations
    of intraindividual deviations in expectancy, intrinsic value, attainment value,
    utility value, and cost to intraindividual deviations in dropout intention. A
    total of 326 undergraduate students of law and mathematics rated motivational
    variables and dropout intention three times from semester start to the final exam
    period. Multilevel regression analyses revealed that intraindividual changes in
    intrinsic value, attainment, and cost, but not in expectancy and utility, related
    to intraindividual changes in dropout intention. Further, we considered students’
    demographics as moderators. Only age moderated the association between intrinsic
    value and dropout intention. Our results stress the crucial role of certain value
    components, including cost, for emerging dropout intention.</jats:p>

    topics can be treated with the methods of different areas of physics, mathematics
    and other natural sciences. The integration of these topics into such areas could
    improve students’ motivation and strengthen the connections between different
    fields of the mentioned sciences. In this article, an example of the connection
    between the physics of the stars and that of their statistical distributions is
    given. The usage of Microsoft Excel simplifies the mathematical requirements and
    gives the possibility of seeing the changes of distribution with the growing age
    of the regarded population of stars. The changes are a direct consequence to the
    limited lifetime of the stars and the limited age of the considered population
    of stars.</jats:p>"

  text: <jats:p>The use of video analysis in Design-Based Research (DBR) seems to
    be promising, because the quality of video data matches the reality of educational
    fields. Educational fields are multidimensional and complex. And more than other
    types of data, video may capture, for example, the simultaneity of verbal and
    non-verbal interactions. This seems to be valuable in the quest for new insights
    and better designs of educational interventions. However, to date there has been
    limited use of video data in researching their design. This paper aims at reflecting
    how the benefits of video-based analysis may be utilised in DBR. Experiences with
    the collection and analysis of video data in a project to design self-organised
    learning (SOL) at a vocational school in Germany will be used as a case study
    to illustrate the type of findings that may feed into the DBR process. In this
    case, the project school had already introduced a sophisticated SOL model but
    was experiencing various implementation difficulties. Resolving issues like this
    requires insights into how exactly a concept is realised and what happens in the
    field. Therefore, video data on classroom interactions was gathered and sub-sequently
    analysed using the documentary method. This led to the reconstruction of two different
    types of orientation that were guiding the students when they dealt with their
    self-organised learning environment. In a subversive orientation, students playfully
    infiltrate the formal learning space with peer activities. In a confirming orientation,
    students stick to both, the (informal) rules of the (formal) learning arrangement
    and of the peer environment, thus expressing respect for the boundary between
    these two worlds. These findings have been used to redesign the SOL intervention.</jats:p>

  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Right-wing populism has strongly
    polarizing effects in politics, education and science—a problem which this article
    aims to adress. Instead of claiming a demarcation between science and education
    on the one hand and right-wing populist ideology on the other, we initially focus
    on continuities. At the same time, we are concerned with finding a critical distance
    towards right-wing populism. Using the theoretical framework of boundary-work
    we therefore analyse a case of right-wing populist educational and scientific
    efforts. Boundary-work can occur in an institutional, content-related and epistemic
    dimension. While we identify strong continuities in the institutional and content-related
    dimensions, we see the main difference in the epistemic dimension. In conclusion,
    we use the results of our analysis to develop a critical position as scientists
    and educationists towards right-wing populism, drawing consequences for the epistemic,
    content-related and institutional dimensions.</jats:p>

    aktuellen Beitrag Fallinterpretationen zwischen Theorieund Anwendungsbezug den
    praktischen Nutzen wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse, insbesondere von Theorie,
    für die Schule und Erwachsenenbildung. Wir greifen ihre Position in einer dialogischen
    Replik kritisch auf. Die Form des Dialogs bietet uns die Möglichkeit, unsere Perspektiven
    als Erziehungswissenschaftler, Lehrer und Soziologe in die Debatte einzubringen.
    Wir möchten so die eingespielten Grenzziehungen in ‚Theorie- Praxis-Debatten‘
    irritieren und Beiers, Wyßuwas und Wagners Plädoyer für die Stärke wissenschaftlicher
    Theorie ergänzen. Diese Stärke kommt weniger zur Geltung, wenn Theorie Kontingenz
    schließende und mehr, wenn sie Kontingenz öffnende Effekte hat. Zudem sollte Theorie
    nicht auf Modelle oder auf Theorien begrenzter Reichweite beschränkt und die konkrete
    Verwendung von Theorie zum Gegenstand der (Selbst)Reflexion und (Selbst)Kritik
    werden.</jats:p>

  text: '<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Due to high energy‐intensive processes
    and a dependence on carbon‐based materials, the process industry plays a major
    role in climate change. Therefore, the substitution of fossil resources by bio‐based
    resources is indispensable. This leads to challenges arising from accompanying
    changes of the type, amount and location of resources. At the same time, transformable
    production systems are currently in the focus of research addressing the required
    flexibility. These systems which consist of modular production and logistics units
    offer the possibility to adapt flexibly in volatile conditions within dynamic
    supply chains. Hence, this work compiles elements for environmental sustainability,
    which minimize the carbon footprint in the process industry: transformable production
    systems, the utilization of bio‐based resources, carbon dioxide and renewable
    energy as well as the application of these elements in decentral production networks.
    Finally, possible use cases are determined based on the combination of these elements
    through a multi‐criteria analysis.</jats:p>'

    of resources and global warming. This leads to new challenges for the production
    systems. On the market side, rapid innovation is accompanied by shorter product
    life cycles leading to an increasing uncertainty of demand in terms of product
    type, volume and location. Therefore, the following five elements are combined
    into a concept to address these challenges: transformable production systems,
    local bio‐based resources, CO<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> as feedstock, renewable energy

  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>In this paper, a newly designed distillation
    column consisting of a wetted wall with a rectangular cross section is analyzed
    and compared with a conventional packed column with regard to the operating range
    of both apparatuses. As expected, the pressure drop is considerably lower in the
    wetted‐wall column and, therefore, it offers a higher range of operation. However,
    in the wetted‐wall column, the separation efficiency decreases rapidly with increasing
    <jats:italic>F</jats:italic> factors. This effect can be overcome by the serial
    connection of two wetted‐wall columns.</jats:p>

  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>This study presents a new and innovative
    sieve tray design for a more flexible operation of separation columns in terms
    of possible throughput. The advantage of this new tray design is to ensure an
    optimal operation for varying feed flow rates and constant separation efficiencies
    for different load ranges. The aim of this work is to give a short introduction
    and an outlook to the investigation of the functionality of the designed trays.
    Moreover, the general design of the new trays, first results for CFD simulations
    of the dry pressure drop and the experimental setup are presented.</jats:p>

  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Due to the increasing share of renewable
    energies in the power sector, the need for energy storage and flexible performance
    is rising. This study provides an in‐depth investigation of the flexibility of
    a Power‐to‐Gas plant for the production of synthetic natural gas. Model‐based
    analysis is conducted for the individual technologies PEM electrolysis, MEA absorption
    and fixed‐bed methanation as well as for the continuously operated process. This
    study reveals that the Power‐to‐Gas plant offers a capacity flexibility of 87–125 %,
    corresponding to 4.79–6.88 MW electrical input power.</jats:p>

    and classification of available solutions to enhance flexibility. Solutions and
    future challenges across all length scales of chemical engineering are discussed:

  text: <jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>A method is proposed to evaluate
    capacity potentials in continuously operated chemical processes. In the main part
    of the analysis, the operating windows of the equipment are examined based on
    detailed steady‐state simulations. The method is applied to a case study of the
    production process of ethylene oxide as a large‐scale commodity chemical. Results
    show the limitations continuously operated processes are confronted with. However,
    opportunities to enlarge or shift the operating window of apparatuses applied
    are determined.</jats:p>

  text: "<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Given a closed orientable hyperbolic
    manifold of dimension <jats:inline-formula><jats:alternatives><jats:tex-math>$$\\ne
    3$$</jats:tex-math><mml:math xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\">\r\n
    \                 <mml:mrow>\r\n                    <mml:mo>≠</mml:mo>\r\n                    <mml:mn>3</mml:mn>\r\n
    \                 </mml:mrow>\r\n                </mml:math></jats:alternatives></jats:inline-formula>
    we prove that the multiplicity of the Pollicott-Ruelle resonance of the geodesic
    flow on perpendicular one-forms at zero agrees with the first Betti number of
    the manifold. Additionally, we prove that this equality is stable under small
    perturbations of the Riemannian metric and simultaneous small perturbations of
    the geodesic vector field within the class of contact vector fields. For more
    general perturbations we get bounds on the multiplicity of the resonance zero
    on all one-forms in terms of the first and zeroth Betti numbers. Furthermore,
    we identify for hyperbolic manifolds further resonance spaces whose multiplicities
    are given by higher Betti numbers.\r\n</jats:p>"
