text: "Altruistically motivated investment has become the subject of economic, psychological
and sociological research in recent years. The long tradition of ethical considerations
concerning investment behavior has often been mentioned by historians but rarely
investigated. This paper presents a case study of the 19th century philhellene
banker Jean-Gabriel Eynard,\r\nwho was philanthropically active in Greece, but
also invested part of his capital on the emerging Greek market. Drawing on the
methodological approach of the “sociology of morality”, this article examines
how Eynard invested in Greece, which norms and values concerning investment behavior
he articulated and how far they were comparable with the norms and values of today’s
Socially Responsible Investment. What emerges is that the practices and the norms
of Socially\r\nResponsible and Ethical Investment then and now are remarkably
similar, while the “moral background” (G. Abend) has changed considerably in some,
but not all points."

text: "
Zusammenfassung
\r\n Hintergrund
an Tag 3 ± 3 begonnen.
Ernährungstherapie von Langzeit-Intensivpatienten auf einer operativen Intensivstation;
"

text: Thin film lithium niobate has been of great interest recently, and an understanding
of periodically poled thin films is crucial for both fundamental physics and device
developments. Second-harmonic (SH) microscopy allows for the noninvasive visualization
and analysis of ferroelectric domain structures and walls. While the technique
is well understood in bulk lithium niobate, SH microscopy in thin films is largely
influenced by interfacial reflections and resonant enhancements, which depend
on film thicknesses and substrate materials. We present a comprehensive analysis
of SH microscopy in x-cut lithium niobate thin films, based on a full three-dimensional
focus calculation and accounting for interface reflections. We show that the dominant
signal in backreflection originates from a copropagating phase-matched process
observed through reflections, rather than direct detection of the counterpropagating
signal as in bulk samples. We simulate the SH signatures of domain structures
by a simple model of the domain wall as an extensionless transition from a −χ(2)
to a +χ(2) region. This allows us to explain the main observation of domain structures
in the thin-film geometry, and, in particular, we show that the SH signal from
thin poled films allows to unambiguously distinguish areas, which are completely
or only partly inverted in depth.

text:
Companies disclosing negative aspects in sustainability reports often
employ legitimation strategies to present mishaps in a favorable light. In incentivized
experiments, we find that nonprofessional investors divest from companies with
a negative sustainability-related incident, and that symbolic legitimation (which
only evasively explains a negative incident) is not a strong enough signal to
counter this divestment behavior. Even substantial legitimation (which reports
on measures and behavioral change) mitigates the divestment decisions only if
the company reports on concrete remediation actions in morally charged situations,
such as social or environmental incidents. We elaborate these results in light
of signaling and screening theory, and suggest the conceptual extension of “costly
signals” to what we call “valuable signals.” We argue that valuable signals need
be not only costly for the sender from an economic perspective but also perceived
as appropriate by the receiver from a noneconomic perspective.

text: Mach-Zehnder electro-optic modulators (EOM) based on thin-film lithium niobate
bonded to a silicon photonic waveguide circuit have been shown to achieve very
high modulation bandwidths. Open eye-diagram measurements made in the time domain
of beyond-small-signal modulation are used to support the modulation-sideband
measurements in showing that such EOM’s can support high-frequency modulations
well beyond 100 GHz.

text: This article analyzes the contagion process of entrepreneurial passion and
its effects on employee outcomes. We develop a mediation model showing entrepreneurs’
entrepreneurial passion affects an employee passion response, which in turn affects
employee outcomes. We draw on a dual-process perspective to analyze how entrepreneurs’
emotional and identity displays interact to create employees’ perceptions of entrepreneurs’
passion, and question whether the contagion effect uniformly works for all employees.
Our empirical studies, one field study and one experiment, provide empirical support
for a contagion effect of entrepreneurial passion, and show the particularities
of the effects of entrepreneurs’ passion on employee outcomes.

text:
Abstract
ERPs in the EEG were scrutinized
in learning a complex arm movement sequence with the aim to examine valence effects
on processing augmented feedback during practice. Twenty‐four healthy subjects
practiced one session with 192 feedback trials according to an adaptive bandwidth
feedback approach with a high informational level of feedback information (i.e.,
amplitude and direction of errors). The bandwidth for successful performance (increase
of a score for a monetary competition) was manipulated to yield a success rate
(positive feedback frequency) of approximately 50% adaptive to the current performance
level. This allowed a variation of feedback valence unconfounded by success rate.
In line with our hypotheses, the EEG data showed a valence‐dependent feedback‐related
negativity (FRN) and a later fronto‐central component at the FCz electrode as
well as a P300 component at the Pz electrode. Moreover, the P300 and amplitudes
in the FRN time window reduced in the second half of practice but were still dependent
on feedback valence. Behavioral adjustments were larger after feedback with negative
valence and were predicted by the late fronto‐central component. The data support
the assumption of feedback valence‐dependent modulation of attentional cognitive
involvement in motor control and learning.
