  text: Employing main and sector-specific investment-grade CDS indices from the North
    American and European CDS market and performing mean-variance out-of-sample analyses
    for conservative and aggressive investors over the period from 2006 to 2014, this
    paper analyzes portfolio benefits of adding corporate CDS indices to a traditional
    financial portfolio consisting of stock and sovereign bond indices. As a baseline
    result, we initially find an increase in portfolio (downside) risk-diversification
    when adding CDS indices, which is observed irrespective of both CDS markets, investor-types
    and different sub-periods, including the global financial crisis and European
    sovereign debt crisis. In addition, the analysis reveals higher portfolio excess
    returns and performance in CDS index portfolios, however, these effects clearly
    differ between markets, investor-types and sub-periods. Overall, portfolio benefits
    of adding CDS indices mainly result from the fact that institutional investors
    replace sovereign bond indices rather than stock indices by CDS indices due to
    better risk-return characteristics. Our baseline findings remain robust under
    a variety of robustness checks. Results from sensitivity analyses provide further
    important implications for institutional investors with a strategic focus on a
    long-term conservative portfolio management.

  text: Superhierarchically rough films are rapidly synthesised on metal substrates
    via electrochemically triggered self-assembly of meso/macroporous-structured metal-organic
    framework (MOF) crystals. These coatings are applied to immobilise a functional
    oil with low surface energy to provide stable coatings repellent to a wide range
    of hydrophobic as well as hydrophilic fluids. Such omniphobic surfaces are highly
    interesting for several applications such as anti-fouling, anti-icing, and dropwise
    condensation, and become easily scalable with the presented bottom-up fabrication
    approach. As investigated by environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM),
    the presented perfluorinated oil-infused Cu-BTC coating constitutes of a flat
    liquid-covered surface with protruding edges of octahedral superstructured MOF
    crystals. Water and non-polar diiodomethane droplets form considerably high contact
    angles and even low-surface-tension fluids, e.g. acetone, form droplets on the
    infused coating. The repellent properties towards the test fluids do not change
    upon extended water spraying in contrast to oil-infused porous copper oxide or
    native copper surfaces. It is discussed in detail, how the presented electrodeposited
    MOF films grow and provide a proficient surface morphology to stabilise the functional
    oil film due to hemiwicking.

  text: The first year of studying has been extensively researched applying different
    theoretical lenses to better understand the transition into Higher Education (HE).
    It is of particular interest to investigate how students deal with frictions between
    themselves as individuals and what they perceive to be dominant features of the
    first-year culture of their studies. To tackle this question, a qualitative longitudinal
    study was conducted. Based on a sociocultural understanding of attitudes and motivations,
    its aim was to closely follow a relatively small but highly diverse sample of
    students throughout their first year at a business school in order to develop
    an in-depth understanding of each individual’s motivational and attitudinal development.
