text: The utilization and preparation of functional hybrid films for optical sensing
applications and membranes is of utmost importance. In this work, we report the
convenient and scalable preparation of self-crosslinking particle-based films
derived by directed self-assembly of alkoxysilane-based cross-linkers as part
of a core-shell particle architecture. The synthesis of well-designed monodisperse
core-shell particles by emulsion polymerization is the basic prerequisite for
subsequent particle processing via the melt-shear organization technique. In more
detail, the core particles consist of polystyrene (PS) or poly(methyl methacrylate)
(PMMA), while the comparably soft particle shell consists of poly(ethyl acrylate)
(PEA) and different alkoxysilane-based poly(methacrylate)s. For hybrid film formation
and convenient self-cross-linking, different alkyl groups at the siloxane moieties
were investigated in detail by solid-state Magic-Angle Spinning Nuclear Magnetic
Resonance (MAS, NMR) spectroscopy revealing different crosslinking capabilities,
which strongly influence the properties of the core or shell particle films with
respect to transparency and iridescent reflection colors. Furthermore, solid-state
NMR spectroscopy and investigation of the thermal properties by differential scanning
calorimetry (DSC) measurements allow for insights into the cross-linking capabilities
prior to and after synthesis, as well as after the thermally and pressure-induced
    processing steps. Subsequently, free-standing and self-crosslinked particle-based
films featuring excellent particle order are obtained by application of the melt-shear
organization technique, as shown by microscopy (TEM, SEM).

text: Coordinatively unsaturated sites (CUS) present a key feature of alumina based
catalysts as they are believed to act as Lewis-acid sites in heterogeneously catalyzed
reactions. In the present study, the direct observation of active species on a
fluoride-doped aluminum oxide catalyst is demonstrated. This new fluoride-doped
aluminum oxide exhibits strong Lewis-acid sites and superior catalytic activity
as compared to gamma-Al2O3. To emphasize the labile state of Lewis-acid sites,
two distinctive states of the catalysts surface are addressed using H-1-Al-27
cross polarization (CP) MAS NMR. On the one hand, the highly dehydrated and active
state after calcination at 700 degrees C and on the other hand the rehydrated
and catalytically inactive surface (produced by contact to air) are probed. These
experiments revealed the presence of significant amounts of coordinatively unsaturated
sites in the form of 4-and 5-fold coordinated Al-sites on the highly dehydrated
surface. In contrast to this, the rehydrated sample exhibited a severely restructured
surface caused by the chemisorption of H2O which is ’constituted in a manner that
was proposed in earlier models for gamma-Al2O3 surfaces.

text: Despite the rapid growth and potential of technology-based services, managers'
greatest challenges are gaining customer acceptance and increasing usage of these
new innovative services. In the B2C field, studies of self-service technology
show that perceived risk is an important factor influencing the use of service
technology. Though prior research explores different risk types that emerge in
consumer settings, risk perception in the B2B setting lacks a detailed examination
of different risk types influencing technology-based service adoption. Data from
49 qualitative interviews with providers and customers in two different B2B industries
inform this study. The findings emphasize the importance of functional and financial
risks in a B2B context and show that business customers' personal and psychological
fears hinder their use of technology-based services. Results highlight differences
in risk perception and evaluation between customers and providers.

text: "Purpose\r\n– The purpose of this paper is to encourage the reader to think
differently about service-related issues and to strive to conduct service research
that makes a transformational impact on individuals, organizations and society.
The authors suggest that service researchers are in an excellent position to develop
research that matters by making stronger connections with theory and elevating
purely applied research to research that is higher in both practical relevance
and methodological rigor. \r\n\r\nDesign/methodology/approach\r\n– This paper
takes a conceptual approach, connecting pertinent literature with new ideas highlighted
in this special issue. \r\n\r\nFindings\r\n– This paper proposes that service
researchers look beyond traditional service applications, take a multi-disciplinary
approach to problem-solving and make greater strides towards connecting theory
and practice. The authors propose a Model of Rigorous and Relevant Research, and
call for fresh thinking across a wide range of research areas, including enhancing
the customer experience, crafting innovation, integrating technology and measuring
service outcomes. \r\n\r\nOriginality/value\r\n– The originality of this essay
lies in its focus on revitalizing the discussion on relevance and rigor as a path
forward for service research. Additionally, this paper offers new insights on
core management aspects of service provision that provide a solid platform for
    future work in service research."

text: Smart interactive services, in contrast with other technology-based services,
require significant human-to-human interaction and collaboration in addition to
the service provided by the embedded technology itself. The authors’ foundational
Delphi study confirms smart interactive services (e.g., remote diagnosis, remote
repair of equipment, and telemedicine) are a rapidly growing innovation category
across industries. Yet, gaining user acceptance of these types of services presents
a significant challenge for managers. To address this challenge, the authors employ
a grounded theory approach, drawing on depth interviews, to develop a framework
of barriers and facilitators to users’ attitudinal and behavioral responses to
smart interactive services. The findings reveal a new set of beliefs that are
critical in this context. These beliefs are tied to the human element and specifically
pertain to beliefs about the “service counterpart (SC),” who is the provider’s
employee controlling the technology. Control, trustworthiness, and collaboration
beliefs emerge jointly as important and interrelated influencers tied to the SC.
Contrary to conventional wisdom that focuses on features of the technology itself
to gain user acceptance, this research encourages providers to emphasize the interpersonal
elements of the service by providing control cues, raising social presence, and
    enhancing human trust mechanisms.

  text:
Abstract
Nanoparticles (NP) have specific
catalytic properties, which are influenced by parameters like their size, shape,
or composition. Bimetallic NPs, composed of two metal elements can show an improved
catalytic activity compared to the monometallic NPs. We, herein, report on the
selective aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol catalyzed by unsupported Pd/Au and
Pd NPs at atmospheric pressure. NPs of varying compositions were synthesized and
characterized by UV/Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM),
and small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). The NPs were tested in the model reaction
regarding their catalytic activity, stability, and recyclability in batch and
continuous procedure. Additionally, in situ extended
X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) measurements were performed in order to
get insight in the process during NP catalysis.

text: The role of information and communication technology for economic growth has
been emphasized repeatedly. Technological breakthroughs have generated new forms
of services, such as self-services or remote services. Although these encounters
are qualitatively different from traditional service provision, prior service
management literature thus far had paid little attention to theory development
and the systematization of technology-based service encounters. To fill this research
gap, the present study outlines how new types of technology-based services fit
into existing service typologies and provides an extension of existing frameworks
to capture their unique characteristics. These insights in turn offer managerial
implications and highlight open research questions.

text: 'A hydrothermal method utilizes a crystallization process in the solution
so that the pure and high-quality powders can be realized. Sintering from the
    hydrothermal KNbO3 and NaNbO3 powders, a high-dense lead-free piezoelectric (K,Na)NbO3
ceramics could be obtained (density: 98.8\%). Concerning about the g33 constant,
high value as large as commercial PZT ceramics was measured. Therefore, the hydrothermal
(K,Na)NbO3 ceramics is usable for the sensors and the energy harvesting devices.
To demonstrate the (K,Na)NbO3 ceramics, a hydrophone sensor was fabricated and
    evaluated.'
