  abstract     = {{Governments around the world limit free access to information through Internet censorship. With the rising adoption of the QUIC protocol, these censors have been forced to evolve their systems. Russia introduced sweeping changes to its censorship after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including completely blocking international QUIC connections. However, after this broad filter was identified in 2022, Russian QUIC censorship received little attention: The current state of QUIC censorship by TSPU devices is largely unknown. In this paper, we provide a timeline of Russian QUIC censorship and detail its current state. We identify that Russian TSPU devices switched to SNI-dependent QUIC censorship on a large scale between May 2022 and July 2023, a fact that went largely unnoticed for three years. While the GFW was previously thought to be the first censor with broad SNI-dependent QUIC censorship, we highlight that Russian TSPU devices broadly adopted SNI-dependent QUIC censorship at least nine months before the GFW. We consider this an indicator of the TSPU devices’ flexibility and of Russia’s willingness to invest in strict and up-to-date censorship.}},

Im Beitrag wird das digitale kollaborative Tool AnnoPy vorgestellt und gezeigt, welche Potenziale sich für die Analyse von Daten über Lernende durch die Integration von KI-basierter Learning Analytics in das Tool ergeben. Anhand von exemplarischen Daten aus einer Vorlesung der Mathematikdidaktik wird zunächst vorgestellt, wie in AnnoPy eine algorithmisch-händische Analyse und Datenauswertung erfolgte, um dann diese Art der Auswertung mit einer KI-gestützten Auswertung, bei der ein MCP-Server eingebunden wurde, zu vergleichen.}},

  abstract     = {{This qualitative case study investigates how automated feedback from a widely accessible digital curriculum resource influences students’ mathematics learning. Drawing on a dialogic feedback framework, the study analyzes students’ feedback processes in an ecologically valid learning context. Grounded in a sociocultural perspective, the framework integrates Carless’ dialogic conceptualization of feedback, Shute’s feedback typology, and Vergnaud’s scheme theory. Eight eighth-graders from a German secondary school worked individually on percentage problems at home, video-recorded via online conferencing. Data included screen recordings and think-aloud protocols, which were analyzed using qualitative text analysis. Results reveal large individual differences in feedback processes—students vary in when and how they access feedback messages and how they make sense of them. Successfully solving a task after feedback does not always indicate understanding; in some cases, feedback aided procedural completion without conceptual insight. The effectiveness depended on the alignment between task design, feedback message content, and students’ actual difficulties. The study concludes that qualitative analysis of feedback processes with digital technologies in ecologically valid settings is necessary to target specific student difficulties and promote learning.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{When signing digital documents, users often insert scanned or digitized handwritten signatures, which provide no assurance of a document’s authenticity and integrity. Cryptographic signatures offer such guarantees, but are rarely adopted due to persistent usability challenges. This paper explores the potential of digital identity wallets for securely and intuitively signing documents with verified personal data. To this end, we developed IdentitySign, an open-source prototype application, and evaluated it through a user study (N=74). Our results indicate good usability but also reveal potential pitfalls for this and similar wallet-based signature applications, such as unjustified trust in documents with signatures that are cryptographically valid but signed by the wrong signer. We provide guidelines and insights for creating user-centric, secure, and trustworthy digital signage applications using identity wallets.}},

  abstract     = {{The metal-organic framework CPO-27 exhibits free coordination sites (open metal sites) and can be prepared with a wide range of metals that influence its properties. It is therefore an intriguing structure to study sorption phenomena. We analyze the water resistance and sorption behavior of these frameworks, with particular attention to the sorption mechanism in detail and the structure of the confined water molecules. For this purpose, we use manometric water vapor sorption analysis and FTIR spectroscopy. The respective metal center orchestrates both the adsorption behavior and the arrangement of the water molecules in the micropores of the framework. The extent to which water molecules form hydrogen bonds (with each other and with framework oxygen atoms) plays a crucial role in the stability of the framework towards water. Water adsorption is governed by the coordination of water molecules to the open metal sites (except for CPO-27-Cu) and subsequent H-bonding. A stepwise adsorption of water is observed, with significant differences depending on the choice of metal.}},

          <jats:p>Statistics and machine learning are critical because they play an essential role in our everyday lives and the careers we may pursue in the future. It may be beneficial to introduce machine learning, such as decision trees (DTs), at an early stage of education. The data-based construction of DTs is an example of a machine learning process, which can be addressed in mathematics or statistics teaching because of relatively low prior knowledge requirements. This paper focuses on investigating how sixth-grade students create and evaluate data-based DTs. The basis is a teaching unit that aims to lay the foundation for machine learning and enhance students’ understanding of the process. We investigate students’ processes in detail while they build DTs with data cards about food items to predict whether a new item is recommendable. After the teaching unit, an interview study examines students’ strategies for creating decision trees. The findings contribute to understanding students’ learning processes and the challenges when working with decision trees.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{In the last decade, there has been increasing interest in allowing users to understand how the predictions of machine-learned models come about, thus increasing transparency and empowering users to understand and potentially contest those decisions.Dialogue-based approaches, in contrast to traditional one-shot eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods, facilitate interactive, in-depth exploration through multi-turn dialogues, simulating expert conversations. This paper reviews the current state of dialogue-based XAI, presenting a systematic review of 1,339 publications, narrowed down to 14 based on inclusion criteria. We explore theoretical foundations of the systems, propose key dimensions along which different solutions to dialogue-based XAI differ, and identify key use cases, target audiences, system components, and the types of supported queries and responses. Furthermore, we investigate the current paradigms by which systems are evaluated and highlight their key limitations. Key findings include identifying the main use cases, objectives, and audiences targeted by dialogue-based XAI methods, and summarize the main types of questions and information needs. Beyond discussing avenues for future work, we present a meta-architecture for these systems from existing literature and outlined prevalent theoretical frameworks.}},

Der geschichtswissenschaftliche Ansatz und die damit verbundene umfassende Analyse der Quellen zeigen die komplexen Interaktionen zwischen den vier liturgisch bewegten Akteuren Romano Guardini, Abt Ildefons Herwegen, Abt Albert Schmitt sowie Theodor Abele und politischen Kontexten der Weimarer Republik. Dabei wird das Phänomen einer Politik der Unpolitischen untersucht, das sich im Kontext der Liturgischen Bewegung als destabilisierender Faktor der Weimarer Republik erweist.

          <jats:p>Natural everyday situations can offer valuable opportunities for children to develop mathematical ideas. However, as children enter school with widely varying levels of achievement in mathematics, not all children seem to benefit equally from embedded math learning opportunities. To help children take advantage of these opportunities, early childhood (EC) teachers seem to play a significant role in fostering children’s mathematical learning. Previous research suggests that both the teacher’s knowledge and their feedback significantly influence the extent to which children learn. However, most studies on feedback rely on experimental research designs and do not examine naturally occurring feedback in situations involving embedded math learning opportunities. Thus, the influence of EC teachers’ mathematical pedagogical content knowledge (MPCK) and their naturally given feedback on children’s mathematical learning remains underexplored. This paper investigates the effects of naturally given feedback and the MPCK of <jats:italic>N</jats:italic> = 48 EC teachers on the mathematical development of <jats:italic>N</jats:italic> = 140 children. Results indicate that process-related feedback positively impacts children’s mathematical development, while other kinds of feedback (e.g., person-related) and teachers’ MPCK do not demonstrate significant effects. These findings highlight the importance of integrating process-related feedback into professional development (PD) programs for EC teachers to enhance their ability to provide effective feedback.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:p>Today’s ultrasonic transducers find broad application in diverse technology branches and most often cannot be replaced by other actuators. They are typically based on lead-containing piezoelectric ceramics. These should be replaced for environmental and health issues by lead-free alternatives. Multiple material alternatives are already known, but there is a lack of information about their technological readiness level. To fill this gap, a small series of prestressed longitudinally vibrating transducers was set up with a standard PZT material and two lead-free variants within this study. The entire process for building the transducers is documented: characteristics of individual ring ceramics, burn-in results, and free vibration and characteristics under load are shown. The main result is that the investigated lead-free materials are ready to use within ultrasonic bolted Langevin transducers (BLTs) for medium-power applications, when the geometrical setup of the transducer is adopted. Since lead-free ceramics need higher voltages to achieve the same power level, the driving electronics or the mechanical setup must be altered specifically for each material. Lower self-heating of the lead-free materials might be attractive for heat-sensitive processes.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{Zinc tin oxide (ZTO) is investigated as a photoluminescent sensor for oxygen (O2); chemisorbed oxygen quenches the luminescence intensity. At the same time, ZTO is also studied as a resistive sensor; being an n‐type semiconductor, its electrical conductance decreases by adsorption of oxygen. Both phenomena can be exploited for quantitative O2 sensing. The respective sensor responses can be described by the same modified Stern‐Volmer model that distinguishes between accessible and non‐accessible luminescence centers or charge carriers, respectively. The impact of the temperature is studied in the range from room temperature up to 150 °C.}},
