Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","abstract":[{"text":"We propose a diarization system, that estimates “who spoke when” based on spatial information, to be used as a front-end of a meeting transcription system running on the signals gathered from an acoustic sensor network (ASN). Although the\r\nspatial distribution of the microphones is advantageous, exploiting the spatial diversity for diarization and signal enhancement is challenging, because the microphones’ positions are typically unknown, and the recorded signals are initially unsynchronized in general. Here, we approach these issues by first blindly synchronizing the signals and then estimating time differences of arrival (TDOAs). The TDOA information is exploited to estimate the speakers’ activity, even in the presence of multiple speakers being simultaneously active. This speaker activity information serves as a guide for a spatial mixture model, on which basis the individual speaker’s signals are extracted via beamforming. Finally, the extracted signals are forwarded to a speech recognizer. Additionally, a novel initialization scheme for spatial mixture models based on the TDOA estimates is proposed. On the other hand, it contributes to the successful implementation of digital media. Previous research findings in connection with the digital transformation focus  on  particular  competencies  of  teachers  (Meyer,  Becker,  and  Bock  2023;  Caruso,  Heldt, and Drossel 2022; Vogelsang et al. 2023) and their cooperative behaviour (Drossel and Heldt 2022; Schulze, Drossel, and Eickelmann 2022). These questions whether school culture-related  school  types  can  be  identified  or  not  and  how  teachers  perceive  the  school culture have been less considered so far. This article is dedicated to this question and explores if the school culture-related school types differ in terms of the background characteristics  of  the  teachers.  Based  on  a  Latent  Class  Analysis,  three  school  culture-related  school  types  become  apparent:  strong  in  innovation  and  cooperation  (Type  I:  45.74 %), highly innovative and inhibited cooperation (Type II: 17.95 %), inhibited in terms of innovation and cooperation (Type III: 36.31 %). The types do not differ from each other regarding the background characteristics."},{"lang":"ger","text":"Angesichts   des   technischen   Fortschritts,   eines   Digitalisierungsdefizits   an   deutschen   Schulen sowie der Erfahrungen in Schule und Unterricht als Folge der Corona-Pandemie wird sichtbar, dass die Frage nach einer lernförderlichen Schulkultur im Zeitalter der di-gitalen  Transformation  ihre  Relevanz  behält:  Einerseits  zeigt  sich,  dass  sich  die  Schul-kultur  im  Zeitalter  der  digitalen  Transformation  verändert,  weil  Potenziale  und  Heraus-forderungen  für  Schule  und  Unterricht  mit  dieser  verbunden  sind.  Andererseits  trägt  sie  zur erfolgreichen Implementation digitaler Medien bei. Bisherige Forschungsbefunde im Zusammenhang  mit  der  digitalen  Transformation  fokussieren  insbesondere  die  Input-  bzw.  Akteurs-  und  Handlungsebene,  u.  a.  digitalisierungsbezogene  Kompetenzen  von  Lehrkräften  (Meyer,  Becker,  und  Bock  2023;  Caruso,  Heldt,  und  Drossel  2022;  Vogelsang  et al. 2023) und deren Kooperationsverhalten (Drossel und Heldt 2022; Schulze, Drossel, und  Eickelmann  2022).  Weniger  beleuchtet  ist  bisher  jedoch,  wie  Lehrkräfte  angesichts  der digitalen Transformation die Schulkultur an ihrer Schule wahrnehmen und inwiefern sich  auf  dieser  Basis  schulkulturbezogene  Schultypen  identifizieren  lassen.  Diesen  Fra-gen  widmet  sich  dieser  Beitrag  und  exploriert,  inwiefern  sich  die  schulkulturbezogenen  Schultypen in Bezug auf die Hintergrundmerkmale der befragten Lehrkräfte unterschei-den. Auf Grundlage einer Latent Class Analysis werden drei schulkulturbezogene Schulty-pen ersichtlich: innovations- und kooperationsstark (Typ I: 45,74 %), innovationsstark und kooperationsgehemmt (Typ II: 17,95 %), innovations- und kooperationsgehemmt (Typ III: 36,31 %). The new requirements that come with Open Science poses researchers with several challenges. While most of these challenges have already been addressed in several studies, little attention has been paid so far to the underlying Open Science practices (OSP). An exploratory study was conducted focusing on the OSP relating to sharing and using data. 13 researchers from the Weizenbaum Institute were interviewed. The Weizenbaum Institute is an interdisciplinary research institute in Germany that was founded in 2017. To reconstruct OSP a grounded theory methodology (Strauss in Qualitative Analysis for Social Scientists, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1987) was used and classified OSP into open production, open distribution and open consumption (Smith in Openness as social praxis. First Monday, 2017). The research shows that apart from the disciplinary background and research environment, the methodological approach and the type of research data play a major role in the context of OSP. The interviewees’ self-attributions related to the types of data they work with: qualitative, quantitative, social media and source code. With regard to the methodological approach and type of data, it was uncovered that uncertainties and missing knowledge, data protection, competitive disadvantages, vulnerability and costs are the main reasons for the lack of openness. The analyses further revealed that knowledge and established data infrastructures as well as competitive advantages act as drivers for openness. Workpiece property-control permits the application-oriented and time-efficient production of components. In reverse flow forming, for example, a control of the microstructure profile is not yet part of the state of the art, in contrast to the geometry control. This is, due to several reasons, particularly challenging when forming seamless tubes made of metastable austenitic stainless AISI 304L steel. Inducing mechanical and/or thermal energy can cause a phase transformation from austenite to martensite within this steel. The resulting α’-martensite has different mechanical and micromagnetic properties, which can be advantageous depending on the application. For purposes of local property control, the resulting α’-martensite content should be measured and controlled online during the forming process. In the present work, it focuses on the generation of pairs of photons with high degrees of polarization entanglement and simultaneously high indistinguishability. It achieves this goal by selectively reducing the biexciton lifetime with an optical resonator. It demonstrates that a suitably tailored circular Bragg reflector fulfills the requirements of sufficient selective Purcell enhancement of biexciton emission paired with spectrally broad photon extraction and twofold degenerate optical modes. The in‐depth theoretical study combines (i) the optimization of realistic photonic structures solving Maxwell's equations from which model parameters are extracted as input for (ii) microscopic simulations of quantum‐dot cavity excitation dynamics with full access to photon properties. Forming technology, which is confronted with new challenges regarding the quality of the workpieces, must also organise the individual processes more efficiently and at the same time more reliably in order to be able to guarantee good workpiece quality and at the same time to be able to produce economically. One way to meet these challenges is to carry out the forming processes in closed-loop control systems using softsensors. Despite the many potential applications of softsensors in the field of forming technology, there is still no definition of the term softsensor. This publication therefore proposes a definition of the softsensor based on the definition of a sensor and the distinction from the observer, which on the one hand is intended to stimulate scientific discourse and on the other hand is also intended to form the basis for further scientific work. If the dynamics exhibit additional symmetries, then the motion fulfils additional conservation laws, such as conservation of energy (time invariance), momentum (translation invariance), or angular momentum (rotational invariance). To learn a system representation, one could learn the discrete Euler-Lagrange equations, or alternatively, learn the discrete Lagrangian function Ld which defines them. Based on ideas from Lie group theory, in this work we introduce a framework to learn a discrete Lagrangian along with its symmetry group from discrete observations of motions and, therefore, identify conserved quantities. The learning process does not restrict the form of the Lagrangian, does not require velocity or momentum observations or predictions and incorporates a cost term which safeguards against unwanted solutions and against potential numerical issues in forward simulations.
