However, during the joint preparation for the MA, geometric features of the joint can change due to elastic effects and closing cracks. X-ray computed tomography (CT) is a promising alternative to investigate the joint non-destructively. However, if the\r\nmaterial properties of similar joining partners are the same, the CT is not able to correctly resolve surfaces in the joint that are close to or pressing onto each other. These surfaces are relevant for the determination of characteristic dimensions such as neck thickness and undercut. By placing a thin, highly radiopaque tin layer between the joining partners, the interfacial area in the reconstructed volume can be highlighted. In this work, a method for the localisation of the tin layer inside the joint as well as threshold value procedures for the outer joint contour in cross section images are investigated. The measured characteristic dimensions are compared with measured values from MA of the same samples and of samples without tin layer. In addition, possible effects of the tin layer on the joining point\r\ncharacteristics as well as problems of the MA are discussed.","lang":"eng"}],"project":[{"grant_number":"418701707","_id":"130","name":"TRR 285: TRR 285"},{"name":"TRR 285 - C: TRR 285 - Project Area C","_id":"133"},{"_id":"148","name":"TRR 285 – C04: TRR 285 - Subproject C04"},{"_id":"149","name":"TRR 285 – C05: TRR 285 - Subproject C05"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://www.ndt.net/article/since2022/papers/SINCE_2022_paper_4764.pdf"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"36473","user_id":"7850","title":"Approach to Determine the Characteristic Dimensions of Clinched Joints by Industrial X-ray Computed Tomography","status":"public","year":"2022","author":[{"full_name":"Busch, Matthias","first_name":"Matthias","last_name":"Busch"},{"full_name":"Köhler, Daniel ","first_name":"Daniel ","last_name":"Köhler"},{"last_name":"Hausotte","first_name":"Tino ","full_name":"Hausotte, Tino "},{"full_name":"Kupfer, Robert ","first_name":"Robert ","last_name":"Kupfer"},{"full_name":"Troschitz, Juliane ","first_name":"Juliane ","last_name":"Troschitz"},{"last_name":"Gude","first_name":"Maik ","full_name":"Gude, Maik "}],"conference":{"name":"4 th Singapore International Non-destructive Testing Conference and Exhibition (SINCE2022)"},"date_updated":"2023-01-12T15:03:14Z"},{"status":"public","has_accepted_license":"1","page":"e86387","publisher":"Pensoft Publishers","_id":"36524","user_id":"90339","ddc":["300"],"volume":8,"file_date_updated":"2023-01-13T08:39:48Z","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Steinhardt_Kruschick_2022, title={Knowledge Equity and Open Science in qualitative research – Practical research considerations}, volume={8}, DOI={10.3897/rio.8.e86387}, journal={Research Ideas and Outcomes}, publisher={Pensoft Publishers}, author={Steinhardt, Isabel and Kruschick, Felicitas}, year={2022}, pages={e86387} }","ama":"Steinhardt I, Kruschick F. In this paper\r\nwe investigate the hardness of classically simulating the QSVT. A recent result\r\nby Chia, Gily\\'en, Li, Lin, Tang and Wang (STOC 2020) showed that the QSVT can\r\nbe efficiently \"dequantized\" for low-rank matrices, and discussed its\r\nimplication to quantum machine learning. In this work, motivated by\r\nestablishing the superiority of quantum algorithms for quantum chemistry and\r\nmaking progress on the quantum PCP conjecture, we focus on the other main class\r\nof matrices considered in applications of the QSVT, sparse matrices.\r\n We first show how to efficiently \"dequantize\", with arbitrarily small\r\nconstant precision, the QSVT associated with a low-degree polynomial. We apply\r\nthis technique to design classical algorithms that estimate, with constant\r\nprecision, the singular values of a sparse matrix. We show in particular that a\r\ncentral computational problem considered by quantum algorithms for quantum\r\nchemistry (estimating the ground state energy of a local Hamiltonian when\r\ngiven, as an additional input, a state sufficiently close to the ground state)\r\ncan be solved efficiently with constant precision on a classical computer. As a\r\ncomplementary result, we prove that with inverse-polynomial precision, the same\r\nproblem becomes BQP-complete. This gives theoretical evidence for the\r\nsuperiority of quantum algorithms for chemistry, and strongly suggests that\r\nsaid superiority stems from the improved precision achievable in the quantum\r\nsetting. We also discuss how this dequantization technique may help make\r\nprogress on the central quantum PCP conjecture."}],"publication":"Proceedings of the 54th ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing (STOC)","citation":{"apa":"Gharibian, S., & Gall, F. These analyses rely on locally analyzing the properties, directionality, and magnitude of the second-order nonlinear tensor. However, when inspecting FE DWs with SH microscopy, a manifold of different effects may contribute to the observed signal difference between domains and DWs, i.e., far-field interference, Čerenkov-type phase-matching (CSHG), and changes in the aforementioned local nonlinear optical properties. They all might be present at the same time and, therefore, require careful interpretation and separation. In this work, we demonstrate how the particularly strong Čerenkov-type contrast can selectively be blocked using dark- and bright-field SH microscopy. Based on this approach, we show that other contrast mechanisms emerge that were previously overlayed by CSHG but can now be readily selected through the appropriate experimental geometry. Using the methods presented, we show that the strength of the CSHG contrast compared to the other mechanisms is approximately 22 times higher. This work lays the foundation for the in-depth analysis of FE DW topologies by SH microscopy.","lang":"eng"}],"extern":"1","date_created":"2023-10-11T08:53:25Z","type":"journal_article","keyword":["General Physics and Astronomy"],"author":[{"full_name":"Hegarty, Peter A.","last_name":"Hegarty","first_name":"Peter A."},{"full_name":"Beccard, Henrik","last_name":"Beccard","first_name":"Henrik"},{"last_name":"Eng","first_name":"Lukas M.","full_name":"Eng, Lukas M."},{"id":"22501","first_name":"Michael","last_name":"Rüsing","orcid":"0000-0003-4682-4577","full_name":"Rüsing, Michael"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0021-8979","1089-7550"]},"year":"2022","title":"Turn all the lights off: Bright- and dark-field second-harmonic microscopy to select contrast mechanisms for ferroelectric domain walls","intvolume":" 131","article_type":"original","date_updated":"2023-10-11T08:53:55Z","publication_status":"published","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":" https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0094988","open_access":"1"}],"doi":"10.1063/5.0094988","citation":{"apa":"Hegarty, P. Coherent, nonlinear optical (NLO) μ-spectroscopy offers insight into the local thickness, stacking order, symmetry, or electronic and vibrational properties. Thin films and 2D materials are usually supported on multi-layered substrates leading to (multi-)reflections, interference, or phase jumps at interfaces during μ-spectroscopy, which all can make the interpretation of experiments particularly challenging. The disentanglement of the influence parameters can be achieved via rigorous theoretical analysis. In this work, we compare two self-developed modeling approaches, a semi-analytical and a fully vectorial model, to experiments carried out in thin-film geometry for two archetypal NLO processes, second-harmonic and third-harmonic generation. In particular, we demonstrate that thin-film interference and phase matching do heavily influence the signal strength. Furthermore, we work out key differences between three and four photon processes, such as the role of the Gouy-phase shift and the focal position. Last, we can show that a relatively simple semi-analytical model, despite its limitations, is able to accurately describe experiments at a significantly lower computational cost as compared to a full vectorial modeling. This study lays the groundwork for performing quantitative NLO μ-spectroscopy on thin films and 2D materials, as it identifies and quantifies the impact of the corresponding sample and setup parameters on the NLO signal, in order to distinguish them from genuine material properties.<","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2023-10-11T08:59:23Z","keyword":["General Physics and Astronomy"],"type":"journal_article","status":"public","_id":"47989","publisher":"AIP Publishing","funded_apc":"1","user_id":"22501","volume":132,"citation":{"mla":"Amber, Zeeshan H., et al. “Nonlinear Optical Interactions in Focused Beams and Nanosized Structures.” Journal of Applied Physics, vol. 132, no. 21, 213102, AIP Publishing, 2022, doi:10.1063/5.0125926.","bibtex":"@article{Amber_Spychala_Eng_Rüsing_2022, title={Nonlinear optical interactions in focused beams and nanosized structures}, volume={132}, DOI={10.1063/5.0125926}, number={21213102}, journal={Journal of Applied Physics}, publisher={AIP Publishing}, author={Amber, Zeeshan H. and Spychala, Kai J. and Eng, Lukas M. and Rüsing, Michael}, year={2022} }","ama":"Amber ZH, Spychala KJ, Eng LM, Rüsing M. Under the condition of normal dispersion, i.e., the refractive index at the SH wavelength is larger as compared to the refractive index at the fundamental wavelength, n(2ω)>n(ω), bulk crystals will generate no SH signal. Should the bulk, however, contain DWs, an appreciable SH signal will still be detectable at the location of DWs stemming from the Čerenkov mechanism. In this work, we demonstrate both how SH signals are generated in bulk media and how the Čerenkov mechanism can be inhibited by using anomalous dispersion, i.e., n(ω)<n(2ω). This allows us to quantitatively estimate the relative strength of the Čerenkov compared to other SH contrast mechanisms in DWs, such as the interference contrast. The results are in agreement with previous experiments based on the geometric separation of the signals. Due to the observed, strong Čerenkov contrast, such signal contributions may not be neglected in polarimetry studies of ferroelectric DWs in the future."}],"extern":"1","publication":"Journal of Applied Physics","issue":"21","type":"journal_article","keyword":["General Physics and Astronomy"],"date_created":"2023-10-11T08:57:55Z","intvolume":" 132","article_type":"original","date_updated":"2023-10-11T08:58:50Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0021-8979","1089-7550"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Hegarty, Peter A.","last_name":"Hegarty","first_name":"Peter A."},{"full_name":"Eng, Lukas M.","first_name":"Lukas M.","last_name":"Eng"},{"first_name":"Michael","last_name":"Rüsing","orcid":"0000-0003-4682-4577","full_name":"Rüsing, Michael","id":"22501"}],"title":"Tuning the Čerenkov second harmonic contrast from ferroelectric domain walls via anomalous dispersion","year":"2022","doi":"10.1063/5.0115673","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":" https://doi.org/10.1063/5.0115673"}]},{"date_created":"2023-10-12T07:28:17Z","oa":"1","type":"misc","citation":{"bibtex":"@book{Albers_Hoeft_Abendroth_Meusel_2022, title={Ein Blick auf: Verstetigung und Transfer im Bundesprogramm „Kita-Einstieg: Brücken bauen in frühe Bildung“}, author={Albers, Timm and Hoeft, Maike and Abendroth, Sonja and Meusel, Sarah}, year={2022} }","ama":"Albers T, Hoeft M, Abendroth S, Meusel S. Ein Blick Auf: Verstetigung Und Transfer Im Bundesprogramm „Kita-Einstieg: Brücken Bauen in Frühe Bildung“.; 2022.","mla":"Albers, Timm, et al. Ein Blick Auf: Verstetigung Und Transfer Im Bundesprogramm „Kita-Einstieg: Brücken Bauen in Frühe Bildung“. 2022.","chicago":"Albers, Timm, Maike Hoeft, Sonja Abendroth, and Sarah Meusel. Ein Blick Auf: Verstetigung Und Transfer Im Bundesprogramm „Kita-Einstieg: Brücken Bauen in Frühe Bildung“, 2022.","short":"T. Training and evaluation of these single tasks requires synthetic\r\ndata with access to intermediate signals that is as close as possible to the\r\nevaluation scenario. As such data often is not available, many works instead\r\nuse specialized databases for the training of each system component, e.g\r\nWSJ0-mix for source separation. We present a Multi-purpose Multi-Speaker\r\nMixture Signal Generator (MMS-MSG) for generating a variety of speech mixture\r\nsignals based on any speech corpus, ranging from classical anechoic mixtures\r\n(e.g., WSJ0-mix) over reverberant mixtures (e.g., SMS-WSJ) to meeting-style\r\ndata. Its highly modular and flexible structure allows for the simulation of\r\ndiverse environments and dynamic mixing, while simultaneously enabling an easy\r\nextension and modification to generate new scenarios and mixture types. These\r\nmeetings can be used for prototyping, evaluation, or training purposes. We\r\nprovide example evaluation data and baseline results for meetings based on the\r\nWSJ corpus. Further, we demonstrate the usefulness for realistic scenarios by\r\nusing MMS-MSG to provide training data for the LibriCSS database."}],"publication":"2022 International Workshop on Acoustic Signal Enhancement (IWAENC)","department":[{"_id":"54"}],"type":"conference","date_created":"2022-10-20T14:02:14Z","file":[{"file_size":177975,"access_level":"open_access","file_name":"mms_msg_camera_ready.pdf","date_updated":"2023-11-15T14:54:56Z","relation":"main_file","content_type":"application/pdf","file_id":"48931","creator":"cord","date_created":"2023-11-15T14:54:56Z"}],"date_updated":"2023-11-15T14:55:14Z","author":[{"full_name":"Cord-Landwehr, Tobias","first_name":"Tobias","last_name":"Cord-Landwehr","id":"44393"},{"first_name":"Thilo","last_name":"von Neumann","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-7717-8670","full_name":"von Neumann, Thilo","id":"49870"},{"full_name":"Boeddeker, Christoph","last_name":"Boeddeker","first_name":"Christoph","id":"40767"},{"last_name":"Haeb-Umbach","first_name":"Reinhold","full_name":"Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold","id":"242"}],"year":"2022","title":"MMS-MSG: A Multi-purpose Multi-Speaker Mixture Signal Generator","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"project":[{"name":"PC2: Computing Resources Provided by the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing","_id":"52"}],"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"short":"T. Such labels are required when training a neural network for object recognition from radar data. The automatic labeling approach rests on the simultaneous recording of camera and lidar data in addition to the radar spectrum. By warping radar spectra into the camera image, state-of-the-art object recognition algorithms can be applied to label relevant objects, such as cars, in the camera image. The warping operation is designed to be fully differentiable, which allows backpropagating the gradient computed on the camera image through the warping operation to the neural network operating on the radar data. As the warping operation relies on accurate scene flow estimation, we further propose a novel scene flow estimation algorithm which exploits information from camera, lidar and radar sensors. The\r\nproposed scene flow estimation approach is compared against a state-of-the-art scene flow algorithm, and it outperforms it by approximately 30% w.r.t. mean average error. The feasibility of the overall framework for automatic label generation for\r\nRD spectra is verified by evaluating the performance of neural networks trained with the proposed framework for Direction-of-Arrival estimation."}],"issue":"9","publication":"IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"54"}],"file":[{"file_name":"T-VT_AcceptedVersion.pdf","access_level":"open_access","file_size":12117870,"relation":"main_file","date_updated":"2022-09-22T07:00:29Z","file_id":"33460","content_type":"application/pdf","creator":"huesera","date_created":"2022-09-22T07:00:29Z"}],"date_created":"2022-09-21T07:26:19Z","date_updated":"2023-11-20T16:37:16Z","intvolume":" 71","title":"Warping of Radar Data Into Camera Image for Cross-Modal Supervision in Automotive Applications","year":"2022","author":[{"full_name":"Grimm, Christopher","first_name":"Christopher","last_name":"Grimm"},{"first_name":"Tai","last_name":"Fei","full_name":"Fei, Tai"},{"full_name":"Warsitz, Ernst","first_name":"Ernst","last_name":"Warsitz"},{"full_name":"Farhoud, Ridha","last_name":"Farhoud","first_name":"Ridha"},{"last_name":"Breddermann","first_name":"Tobias","full_name":"Breddermann, Tobias"},{"id":"242","first_name":"Reinhold","last_name":"Haeb-Umbach","full_name":"Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold"}],"doi":"10.1109/TVT.2022.3182411","language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"publication":"18. For this purpose, we compare the effect of a sudden shock (dissolution of the Soviet Union) on the managers' present perceptions to that of a steady transition (EU accession). We consult the 5th round of the Business Environment and Enterprise Performance Survey from 2012 to 2014 analyzing 4715 interviews with managers of organizations from twelve Central and Eastern European countries. Our results reveal striking differences in the present perception of corruption for organizations founded immediately before and immediately after these institutional transitions. The study's results contribute to the research on imprinting theory regarding the relationship between organizations and institutional conditions that constitutes a lasting effect on organizational structures. Thus, applying an institutional perspective that considers less stable periods for organizations yields a promising avenue in research on organizational behavior.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility","issue":"2","department":[{"_id":"178"},{"_id":"184"}],"keyword":["Central and Eastern Europe","corruption","imprinting theory","institutional transformation","shock-imprinting"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2022-12-08T06:59:28Z","status":"public","volume":32,"user_id":"49071","_id":"34281","publisher":"Wiley","page":"478-497","project":[{"_id":"81","grant_number":"DFG 398074981","name":"OrgIdent: Die Konstruktion organisationaler Identität und der Einfluss von Geschichte"}],"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"mla":"Auer, Thorsten Fabian, et al. “Long‐term Effects of Institutional Conditions on Perceived Corruption – A Study on Organizational Imprinting in Post‐communist Countries.” Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility, vol. 32, no. 2, Wiley, 2022, pp. 478–97, doi:10.1111/beer.12506.","bibtex":"@article{Auer_Knorr_Thommes_2022, title={Long‐term effects of institutional conditions on perceived corruption – A study on organizational imprinting in post‐communist countries}, volume={32}, DOI={10.1111/beer.12506}, number={2}, journal={Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility}, publisher={Wiley}, author={Auer, Thorsten Fabian and Knorr, Karin and Thommes, Kirsten}, year={2022}, pages={478–497} }","ama":"Auer TF, Knorr K, Thommes K. Despite a wide-ranging debate on the use of learning objectives, empirical research on their effectiveness is scarce. The present study uses the features of digital teaching platforms to investigate the perception and effectiveness of learning objectives applying a randomised controlled experiment followed by a survey in a course for undergraduate economics students (N = 30). Controlling group preconditions and the treatment effect allows to draw conclusions about the different learning outcomes of the student groups. The specification of behaviour-oriented learning objectives in the online course system leads to significantly better performance in the treatment group. A stronger perception of the learning objectives in the treatment group supports this effect that remains significant in a regression analysis. Thus, the study provides an empirical justification to integrate learning objectives in university teaching.","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"1","publication":"die hochschullehre","department":[{"_id":"178"},{"_id":"184"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["learning objectives","academic performance","perception","teaching methods","experiment"],"date_created":"2023-05-05T17:19:24Z"}]
