[{"abstract":[{"text":"Many quantum optical applications in spectroscopy, communication and signal analysis rely on spectrally-engineered nonlinear optical interactions to target specific wavelengths or bandwidth. Here, in an established material platform like lithium niobate the achievable wavelength and bandwidth combinations are usually limited by the material’s dispersion and its birefringence. In this regard, mixed crystals of lithium niobate tantalate (LNT) promise a novel material platform, because they allow tuning the birefringence, which is central for type II phase matching devices. Crucially, LNT offers crystal compositions without any birefringence, which still retain their second-order optical nonlinearity. Despite recent progress in the growth and fabrication of LNT, so far no works have investigated the unique properties of LNT for use in electro-optics, nonlinear or quantum optics. In this study, we explore nonlinear optical devices based on LNT for broad- and narrowband nonlinear optical interactions based on recently measured Sellmeier coefficients. Most interestingly, we find that compositions without birefringence allow the design of broadband, degenerate type II phase matching sources spanning the whole near- to mid-infrared range by only changing the poling period and pump wavelength. Such devices are not easily realizable in pure lithium niobate or lithium tantalate. This material system allows for composition-dependent tuning of key optical parameters such as refractive indices and birefringence. While lithium niobate (LiNbO3, x = 0) and lithium tantalate (LiTaO3, x = 1) are well characterized, reliable dispersion data for intermediate compositions remain scarce, limiting accurate modeling and refractive index engineering. Here, we address this gap by experimentally determining the ordinary and extraordinary refractive indices of LiNb1−xTaxO3 over the spectral range of 405 − 1550 nm using an interferometric technique. As a result, composition-dependent refractive index dispersion and Sellmeier coefficients are derived and discussed in relation to previous studies and structural aspects. In particular, a monotonic decrease of the ordinary refractive index with increasing Tantalum concentration is observed. Conventional heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems rely on numerous air outlet temperature sensors, which add significant costs at scale. This study introduces a hybrid virtual sensor concept that combines physics-based mathematical modeling with data-driven methods to address this challenge. A detailed physical model predicts air outlet temperatures, while neural networks capture unmodeled heat exchanges and environmental disturbances. Two hybrid strategies are explored: one augments the physical model with a neural network to learn residual heat flows, and the other employs an adiabatic physical model enhanced by a neural network that maps the total environmental heat exchange, supported by a disturbance observer for accurate heat flow estimation. However, the TRIP effect during flow forming is significantly affected by disturbances and especially batch fluctuations leading to process uncertainty. This aspect is further analyzed and quantified in this paper to give insights on how to minimize the impact of uncertainty. For this purpose, semifinished parts and resulting flow forming workpieces are systemically characterized concerning their properties and the property uncertainty supported by mathematical methods like correlation analysis and error propagation. A result is that the most influencing impact factor on the strain induced α’-martensite volume fraction as a material property are batch fluctuations, specifically the variations of the chemical composition. Those especially appear from batch to batch, but also within a batch accompanied by e.g. temperature effects. To counter this challenge, different methods from control theory like closed-loop property control and adaptive control can be applied to flow forming. This study addresses this gap by examining international corporate tax policy. Based on 94 statements from eleven legislative procedures (2013- 2023), it analyzes the factors determining whether demands from various interest groups during expert hearings in the Finance Committee are adopted into final legislation. Methodologically, the paper combines qualitative content analysis with a quantitative probit regression. While descriptive data and initial analyses suggest varying success rates among expert groups, these differences disappear when controlling for the specific direction of the proposed changes. No significant group influence remains. The findings suggest that in the later stages of the legislative process, lawmakers select external expertise primarily based on substantive, technical criteria rather than systematically favoring specific actors. Increasing digitalization and data availability require decision support systems that integrate analytical models while being tailored to the competencies of decision-makers. Based on a systematic literature review and stakeholder workshops, eight success factors for competency-oriented workflow integration are identified, including modularity, traceability, interoperability, adaptability, handling uncertainty, and user acceptance. Based on these factors, a five-step method is developed that links business processes, data sources, evaluation criteria, visualization formats, and graphical workflow implementation. Strategic and technical decision logic are integrated into a unified, modular framework using graphical modeling environments. The method is validated in workshops and demonstrates its applicability in time-critical, multi-criteria decision contexts. The results show improved transparency, adaptability, and practical usability of datadriven decision processes that support robust and traceable business decisions. There is no overarching approach for evaluating the variety of operational data sources and feed them into specific data processing pipelines targeting strategic decision support. Based on a systematic literature analysis and comprehensive industrial experience, requirements are derived. These requirements are used to develop a method to identify, classify and evaluate data for strategic decision-making. The method is validated in an industrial project. Simulations help to make these effects more tangible. Until now, the use of simulation in strategic product planning has been limited to behavioral and innovation diffusion studies. This paper presents a process model for widening business models or planning upcoming product generations. It supports integrating the simulation of technical systems into decisionmaking processes to select the most suitable product for adaptation to new application scenarios. To this end, the characteristics of such new application scenarios are applied to existing product models in simulation, and the system behavior is evaluated based on key figures. This supports the comparison of different products and the selection of the product alternative requiring the least amount of modification. The process model enables decision-makers to systematically integrate simulation into the decision-making process and thus make more data-based decisions. The materials were characterized using X-ray diffraction, N2 physisorption, thermogravimetric analysis, infrared spectroscopy, as well as 29Si and 13C solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Trimethylsilylation leads to a reduction of the pore diameter (determined using density functional theory) from 3.8 to 3.6 nm. Using proton solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) under magic-angle spinning, it was found that the filling of these narrow pores with increasing amounts of water follows an axial mode, independent of surface hydrophilicity. Using service-dominant logic (SDL) as a theoretical lens, we review the distinctive properties of these concepts, introduce the agent concept into SDL, and analyze GenAI’s precise role in service exchange processes. We employ a two-phase research approach: First, we conduct a systematic literature review to derive defining properties of resources, actors, beneficiaries, and agents. We then assess eight contemporary GenAI systems against these properties. Our evidence indicates that GenAI is best understood as an operant resource and, depending on design and context, as an actor and agent. Conversely, GenAI does not qualify as a beneficiary, as it is neither individually capable of phenomenologically experiencing and determining value nor a social system of individuals with such capacities. Building on a rich research portfolio that spans from early workflow automation to robotic process automation (RPA), large language models (LLMs) are the most recent disruptive technologies to influence all BPM capability areas. Particularly, these technologies fuel the emerging research fields of AI-enhanced business process management systems and autonomous process execution. In a design science research approach, we develop a modular LLM agent architecture that effectively enables the adaptation and execution of business processes. The architecture integrates a Frame Agent that can generate process descriptions and an Operational Agent that autonomously executes processes based on the Frame Agent’s process descriptions. It further enables a future Tactical Agent for autonomous process adaptations. We demonstrate the architecture’s applicability and utility with the real-world case of a meter-to-cash process, comparing it to the performance of an RPA bot. Our findings provide early insights into the challenges faced by autonomous process execution and its relation with RPA in terms of adaptability, flexibility, and complexity in autonomous process execution.
