The interplay between gender, age, relationship quality, and frequency of contact on value similarity was analyzed. A total of 600 adult German children (53.8% women) and their parents took part in a questionnaire study. Value orientation was measured with a short version of Schwartz’s Portrait Values Questionnaire, and relationship quality with the Network of Relationships Inventory (Furman & Buhrmeister, 1992).Value similarity was higher in mother–daughter dyads compared to mother–son dyads, but in the other dyads, no significant differences were found. Regarding relationship quality, verbal intimacy was not related to value similarity. Parental satisfaction was associated with value similarity in the father–child dyads. Satisfaction, as perceived by adult children, was linked to value similarity in mother–child and father–son dyads. Furthermore, the frequency of contact related to value similarity between mothers and sons.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Journal of Family Issues","issue":"6","doi":"10.1177/0192513x20943914","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/0192513X20943914"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2022-08-29T06:34:26Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 42","title":"Intergenerational Value Similarity in Adulthood","year":"2020","author":[{"last_name":"Hoellger","first_name":"Christian","full_name":"Hoellger, Christian"},{"full_name":"Sommer, Sabrina","first_name":"Sabrina","last_name":"Sommer"},{"last_name":"Albert","first_name":"Isabelle","full_name":"Albert, Isabelle"},{"id":"27152","last_name":"Buhl","first_name":"Heike M.","full_name":"Buhl, Heike M."}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0192-513X","1552-5481"]}},{"extern":"1","publication":"DSWeb","issue":"April","citation":{"short":"E. So far, less attention has been paid to teaching Open Science in bachelor’s degrees or in qualitative methods. Therefore, the aim of this article is to use a seminar example to explore what Open Science practices can be taught in qualitative research and how digital tools can be involved. The seminar focused on the following practices: Open data practices, the practice of using the free and open source tool “Collaborative online Interpretation, the practice of participating, cooperating, collaborating and contributing through participatory technologies and in social (based) networks. To learn Open Science practices, the students were involved in a qualitative research project about “Use of digital technologies for the study and habitus of students”. This challenge requires decision makers to assess\r\nwhich system or software packages are prone to vulnerabilities, how many post-release vulnerabilities\r\ncan be expected to occur during a certain period of time, and what impact exploits might have.\r\nSubstantial research has been dedicated to techniques that analyze source code and detect security\r\nvulnerabilities. However, only limited research has focused on forecasting security vulnerabilities\r\nthat are detected and reported after the release of software. To address this shortcoming, we apply\r\nestablished methodologies which are capable of forecasting events exhibiting specific time series\r\ncharacteristics of security vulnerabilities, i.e., rareness of occurrence, volatility, non-stationarity,\r\nand seasonality. Based on a dataset taken from the National Vulnerability Database (NVD), we use\r\nthe Mean Absolute Error (MAE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) to measure the forecasting\r\naccuracy of single, double, and triple exponential smoothing methodologies, Croston's methodology,\r\nARIMA, and a neural network-based approach. We analyze the impact of the applied forecasting\r\nmethodology on the prediction accuracy with regard to its robustness along the dimensions of the\r\nexamined system and software package \"operating systems\", \"browsers\" and \"office solutions\" and\r\nthe applied metrics. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to analyze the effect\r\nof forecasting methodologies and to apply metrics that are suitable in this context. Our results\r\nshow that the optimal forecasting methodology depends on the software or system package, as some\r\nmethodologies perform poorly in the context of IT security vulnerabilities, that absolute metrics\r\ncan cover the actual prediction error precisely, and that the prediction accuracy is robust within the\r\ntwo applied forecasting-error metrics.","lang":"eng"}],"file":[{"creator":"schryen","date_created":"2019-09-09T18:24:35Z","date_updated":"2019-09-09T18:24:35Z","relation":"main_file","access_level":"open_access","file_size":894663,"file_name":"Forecasting_IT_Security_Vulnerabilities.pdf","content_type":"application/pdf","file_id":"13176"}],"date_created":"2019-09-09T18:24:45Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"195"},{"_id":"277"}],"title":"Forecasting IT Security Vulnerabilities - An Empirical Analysis","year":"2020","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0167-4048"]},"author":[{"first_name":"Emrah","last_name":"Yasasin","full_name":"Yasasin, Emrah"},{"last_name":"Prester","first_name":"Julian","full_name":"Prester, Julian"},{"full_name":"Wagner, Gerit","first_name":"Gerit","last_name":"Wagner"},{"first_name":"Guido","last_name":"Schryen","full_name":"Schryen, Guido","id":"72850"}],"date_updated":"2022-10-19T15:27:51Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 88","article_type":"original","language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"title":"Development of a numerical method for analyzing the robustness of clinching in versatile process chains","year":"2020","author":[{"last_name":"Bielak","first_name":"Christian Roman","full_name":"Bielak, Christian Roman","id":"34782"},{"full_name":"Böhnke, Max","last_name":"Böhnke","first_name":"Max","id":"45779"},{"full_name":"Bobbert, Mathias","first_name":"Mathias","last_name":"Bobbert","id":"7850"},{"first_name":"Gerson","orcid":"0000-0002-2763-1246","last_name":"Meschut","full_name":"Meschut, Gerson","id":"32056"}],"publication_status":"accepted","date_updated":"2023-01-02T12:01:43Z","language":[{"iso":"ger"},{"iso":"eng"}],"related_material":{"link":[{"description":"In many areas of product manufacturing individual components are usually joined together to form complex structures with numerous joints. In this regard, it is necessary to examine the robustness of the clinching process in versatile process chains. Therefore, a method is developed which describes the joint characteristics based on the material properties in order to enable the investigation of the clinching process regarding the robustness concerning continuously changing process and material conditions.\r\n\r\nThe predictive accuracy of numerical simulations for mechanical joining processes depends on the implemented material model, especially the plasticity of the joining parts. Therefore, experimental material characterization processes are used to determine material properties. Furthermore, clinched joints in different material combinations are experimentally generated and examined. Based on these investigations a simulation model of the joining process is developed as 2D-Clinching FEM model in LS-Dyna. The Validation of the developed simulation model is ensured by comparing the geometric formation of the joint and force-displacement curves of the joining process with experimental generated joints. By combining the simulation model with an optimization tool (LS-OPT) the influence of different parameters on the joint characteristics is determined and the robustness of the joining process in versatile process chains is investigated.","relation":"confirmation","url":"https://www.mse-congress.de/program/scientific-program/?tx_dgmprogram_fullprogram%5Bsession%5D=9629&tx_dgmprogram_fullprogram%5Baction%5D=show&tx_dgmprogram_fullprogram%5Bcontroller%5D=Session&cHash=84006c1cdd38f631b19682a33e47111e"}]},"file":[{"creator":"chbielak","description":"In many areas of product manufacturing individual components are usually joined together to form complex structures with numerous joints. To show links between academic mathematics and school mathematics we established so-called interface weeks. These are weeks during a course in which lecture, exercises and homework focus on topics that are related to the normal canon of content but specially chosen for their relevance in school contexts. In this article, we want to present our design for an interface week on the topic of congruence. In order to do so, we first illustrate how so-called interface aspects are used to systematize the mathematical background of the topic, thus giving future mathematics teachers the chance to act professionally. We then show examples of learning activities and first results of the accompanying research.","lang":"eng"}]},{"type":"journal_article","oa":"1","department":[{"_id":"411"}],"date_created":"2023-01-12T06:33:31Z","publication":"Wissenschaft & Frieden 2020-3: Der kranke Planet. Perhaps surprisingly,\r\n[Ambainis, CCC 2014] showed that the related, but arguably more natural,\r\nproblem of simulating local measurements on ground states of local Hamiltonians\r\n(APX-SIM) is likely harder than QMA. Indeed, [Ambainis, CCC 2014] showed that\r\nAPX-SIM is P^QMA[log]-complete, for P^QMA[log] the class of languages decidable\r\nby a P machine making a logarithmic number of adaptive queries to a QMA oracle.\r\nIn this work, we show that APX-SIM is P^QMA[log]-complete even when restricted\r\nto more physical Hamiltonians, obtaining as intermediate steps a variety of\r\nrelated complexity-theoretic results.\r\n We first give a sequence of results which together yield P^QMA[log]-hardness\r\nfor APX-SIM on well-motivated Hamiltonians: (1) We show that for NP, StoqMA,\r\nand QMA oracles, a logarithmic number of adaptive queries is equivalent to\r\npolynomially many parallel queries. These equalities simplify the proofs of our\r\nsubsequent results. (2) Next, we show that the hardness of APX-SIM is preserved\r\nunder Hamiltonian simulations (a la [Cubitt, Montanaro, Piddock, 2017]). As a\r\nbyproduct, we obtain a full complexity classification of APX-SIM, showing it is\r\ncomplete for P, P^||NP, P^||StoqMA, or P^||QMA depending on the Hamiltonians\r\nemployed. (3) Leveraging the above, we show that APX-SIM is P^QMA[log]-complete\r\nfor any family of Hamiltonians which can efficiently simulate spatially sparse\r\nHamiltonians, including physically motivated models such as the 2D Heisenberg\r\nmodel.\r\n Our second focus considers 1D systems: We show that APX-SIM remains\r\nP^QMA[log]-complete even for local Hamiltonians on a 1D line of 8-dimensional\r\nqudits. This uses a number of ideas from above, along with replacing the \"query\r\nHamiltonian\" of [Ambainis, CCC 2014] with a new \"sifter\" construction.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Proceedings of the 37th Symposium on Theoretical Aspects of Computer Science (STACS 2020)","citation":{"short":"S. However, up until now, state-of-theart neural network–based time domain source separation has not yet been combined with E2E speech recognition. We here demonstrate how to combine a separation module based on a Convolutional Time domain Audio Separation Network (Conv-TasNet) with an E2E speech recognizer and how to train such a model jointly by distributing it over multiple GPUs or by approximating truncated back-propagation for the convolutional front-end. To put this work into perspective and illustrate the complexity of the design space, we provide a compact overview of single-channel multi-speaker recognition systems. Signal diffuseness information from acoustic signals is aggregated via the coherent-to-diffuse power ratio to obtain a distance-related feature, which is mapped to a source-to-microphone distance estimate by means of a DNN. This information is then combined with direction-of-arrival estimates from compact microphone arrays to infer the geometry of the sensor network. Unlike many other approaches to geometry calibration, the proposed scheme does only require that the sampling clocks of the sensor nodes are roughly synchronized. In simulations we show that the proposed DNN-based distance estimator generalizes to unseen acoustic environments and that precise estimates of the sensor node positions are obtained. DPRNN is a simple but effective model for a long sequential data. While DPRNN is quite efficient in modeling a sequential data of the length of an utterance, i.e., about 5 to 10 second data, it is harder to apply it to longer sequences such as whole conversations consisting of multiple utterances. It is simply because, in such a case, the number of time steps consumed by its internal module called inter-chunk RNN becomes extremely large. To mitigate this problem, this paper proposes a multi-path RNN (MPRNN), a generalized version of DPRNN, that models the input data in a hierarchical manner. In the MPRNN framework, the input data is represented at several (>_ 3) time-resolutions, each of which is modeled by a specific RNN sub-module. For example, the RNN sub-module that deals with the finest resolution may model temporal relationship only within a phoneme, while the RNN sub-module handling the most coarse resolution may capture only the relationship between utterances such as speaker information. We perform experiments using simulated dialogue-like mixtures and show that MPRNN has greater model capacity, and it outperforms the current state-of-the-art DPRNN framework especially in online processing scenarios."}],"publication":"Proc.
