At the same time, reusing waste heat from DCs also represents an opportunity, for example, for more sustainable heating of residential buildings. Modeling and optimizing these coupled and dynamic systems of heat generation and reuse is complex. On the one hand, physical simulations can be used to model these systems, but they are time-consuming to develop and run. Machine learning (ML), on the other hand, allows efficient data-driven modeling, but conventional correlation-based approaches struggle with the prediction of interventions and out-of-distribution generalization. Recent advances in causal ML, which combine principles from causal inference with flexible ML methods, are a promising approach for more robust predictions. Due to their focus on modeling interventions and cause-and-effect relationships, it is difficult to evaluate causal ML approaches rigorously. To address this challenge, we built a testbed of a miniature DC with an integrated waste heat network, equipped with sensors and actuators. This testbed allows conducting controlled experiments and automatic collection of realistic data, which can then be used to benchmark conventional and causal ML methods. Until now, the situation where for large-scale systems, we (i) only have access to partial observations (i.e., measurements, as is very common for experimental data) or (ii) deliberately perform coarse\r\ngraining (for efficiency reasons) has not been treated to its full extent. In this paper, we address the pitfall associated with this situation, that the classical EDMD algorithm does not automatically provide a Koopman operator approximation for the underlying system if we do not carefully select the number of observables. Moreover, we show that symmetries in the system dynamics can be carried over to the Koopman operator, which allows us to massively increase the model efficiency. Our method splits the state space into multiple windows that are predicted individually using a single model. Despite requiring only few data points (in some cases, our method can learn from a single full-state snapshot), it still achieves high accuracy and can predict the flow of PDEs over long time horizons. Low-code platforms and visual modelling tools are increasingly recognised as enablers, empowering non-programmers to intuitively create graphical AI- based workflows. Nevertheless, specific competencies are required to realise the full potential of AI, the domain specific knowledge and align technical understanding with AI capabilities. The paper reviews the state of the art in AI-driven business process automation and competencies for visual low-code approaches. It then presents a practical solution to identify and systematise essential competence areas. Based on this, a practical competence model is developed to support the design of user-friendly, AI-enabled workflows. This is tested in a practical application context — emergency management — where it supports critical decision-making processes and is validated through expert feedback. While a variety of disciplines are developing new approaches to drive service innovation, this is primarily done in isolation and generates only fragmented solutions. Sociological theory has proposed “boundary objects” as an effective umbrella for communication and cooperation among communities. Therefore, we introduce continuous value shaping (CVS) as a boundary object describing service innovation approaches along five principles. We reflect on this concept through the different disciplinary lenses of researchers in service marketing, information systems, service engineering, sociology of work, and innovation management. These perspectives highlight how the CVS principles already connect to discourses within the individual disciplines. However, the CVS concept will not only provide an umbrella to embrace existing activities in different academic disciplines. It also assists to identify research themes that will benefit from uniting the power of these disciplines, and it can serve as an integrating framework to conceptualize complex service innovation approaches. In this note, we aim to apply it to a vast range of examples of polynomials providing a unifying source for limiting empirical zero distributions. We cover Touchard, Fubini, Eulerian, Narayana and little q-Laguerre polynomials as well as hypergeometric polynomials including the classical Hermite, Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials. We construct polynomials whose empirical zero distributions converge to the free multiplicative normal and Poisson distributions. Furthermore, we study polynomials generated by some differential operators. (2025). <i>CQD-SHAP: Explainable Complex Query Answering via Shapley Values</i>."},"abstract":[{"text":"Complex query answering (CQA) goes beyond the widely studied link prediction task by addressing more sophisticated queries that require multi-hop reasoning over incomplete knowledge graphs (KGs). Research on neural and neurosymbolic CQA methods is still an emerging field. Almost all of these methods can be regarded as black-box models, which may raise concerns about user trust. Although neurosymbolic approaches like CQD are slightly more interpretable, allowing intermediate results to be tracked, the importance of different parts of the query remains unexplained. In this paper, we propose CQD-SHAP, a novel framework that computes the contribution of each query part to the ranking of a specific answer. This contribution explains the value of leveraging a neural predictor that can infer new knowledge from an incomplete KG, rather than a symbolic approach relying solely on existing facts in the KG. CQD-SHAP is formulated based on Shapley values from cooperative game theory and satisfies all fundamental Shapley axioms. An important part of Iran’s censorship apparatus is its analysis of unencrypted protocols such as HTTP and DNS. During routine evaluations of Iran’s HTTP and DNS censorship, we noticed several properties we believe to be unknown today. For instance, we found injections of correct static IPs for some domains such as google.com on the DNS level, unclear HTTP version parsing, and correlations between DNS and HTTP censorship. In this paper, we present our findings to the community and discuss possible takeaways for affected people and the censorship circumvention community. As some of our findings left us bewildered, we hope to ignite a discussion about Iran’s censorship behavior.
