We examine this concept in the context of whistleblowing, where potential whistleblowers face two competing norms: promoting fairness by reporting wrongdoing versus maintaining loyalty to peers by staying silent. We investigate how normative expectations about these two mutually exclusive actions affect reporting decisions. Specifically, we test whether providing information on the majority beliefs about either the appropriateness of whistleblowing, or of staying silent, or about both behaviours together, differentially affects the whistleblowing decision. Using an incentivized experiment with UK employees on Prolific, our study yields four key findings: First, employees are more likely to report misconduct when they believe that the majority considers whistleblowing to be appropriate. Second, they are less likely to blow the whistle when they believe staying silent is deemed appropriate. Third, this effect prevails for a particularly important subgroup: among employees who believe that the majority supports whistleblowing, the reporting probability increases substantially when they simultaneously expect that staying silent is deemed inappropriate. Fourth, providing information about both normative dimensions combined or only about the inappropriateness of staying silent significantly increases whistleblowing compared to the (no information) baseline and to information about whistleblowing appropriateness alone. These findings demonstrate the importance of normative expectations about both behavioural options for accurately predicting whistleblowing behaviour, and that social information interventions are most effective when they target behaviours where appropriateness beliefs about conflicting options are dispersed. We examine how such misperceptions affect behaviour and whether correcting them can induce a behavioural change, using whistleblowing as an application. Through survey data and an incentivized laboratory experiment, we demonstrate that while a majority of individuals (>75%) privately support whistleblowing, almost half (45.92%) misperceive the majority’s view. Both personal normative beliefs and normative expectations strongly predict whistleblowing behaviour. Their alignment is particularly noteworthy: individuals who personally support whistleblowing are more likely to report misconduct when they believe others share their views. A social information intervention revealing the true distribution of peer support affects subgroups differently: while it increases whistleblowing behaviour among individuals who already personally favour reporting misconduct, there is no effect among those who are personally resistant to it. Still, given the relatively low cost of such social information interventions, they offer an economically viable means of achieving behavioural change in at least some of the targeted individuals. Die Verpackungen von Männerkörperpflegeartikeln enthalten in der Regel Beschriftungen einerseits zur expliziten Kennzeichnung (for men, 男性专用 [speziell für Männer] o. Ä.) und andererseits zur Werbung (ABSOLUTE MAN, 3/4/5 IN 1, STARTKLAR, 有型 [cool und stylish], 均衡 [ausbalanciert] etc.). Mit derartigen Beschriftungen, die über die Artikelverpackungen massenhaft verbreitet werden, können Unternehmen die geteilte Vorstellung von Männern als soziale Kategorie bzw. Erwartungen an diese mitkonstituieren. Das bedeutet, durch Beschriftungen auf Verpackungen von Körperpflegeartikeln können Männern stereotypische Eigenschaften zugeschrieben werden. Dieser Beitrag arbeitet heraus, wie Männer durch Beschriftungen auf Körperpflegeartikeln in Deutschland und China tendenziell stereotypisiert werden. Traditionally, joints are cylindrical and rotationally symmetric. In the present study, non-rotationally symmetric joints are used for joining steel and Glass mat-reinforced thermoplastic sheets (GMT). In addition, the study also analyzes the impact of non-rotational symmetric joint rotation on the load-bearing capacity. Single lap joint specimens were fabricated using the In-Mold assembly technique for joining steel sheets with GMT. Tensile shear tests were performed on different orientations of the joint geometry, and it was observed that changing the joint orientation influences the load-bearing capacity. Through  a  three-pronged  approach,  this studyadopts phenomenological, theoretical, and empirical perspectives to understand the transition and regained popularity fully. The phenomenological angle delves into the case studies of musicians, revealing  key  factors  behind  the  shift   to  solo  artists  in  pop-punk.  Theoretical  explanations contextualize  the  phenomenon  within  broader  cultural  frameworks,  considering  industry  and transmedia dynamics, audience preferences, and technological advancements. At the same time, there is an astounding lack of analysis and\r\nresearch on these media personalities and personas, and international celebrity studies only recently\r\na developing new field. Similarly, these kinds of observations are still very rare especially in German\r\nsociology as well as communication, media, culture and popular music studies. In this article, I\r\ntherefore want to concentrate on the foundations of studying stars and celebrities within the\r\nattention economies by undertaking a theoretical transmedia-cultural framing of media personas\r\nand suggesting a typology. We introduce novel ontological accounts of understanding and explanation in BFO-terms, which foster a shared conceptualization of explanations and explainee's understanding during explainer-explainee interactions. This approach also enables the tracking of different aspects of understanding and explanation through cognitive profiling of various measurable aspects under the heading of process profile in BFO. Additionally, we differentiate between the private mental process of understanding and understanding displays.
