In the \r\nfield of laser sintering (LS), these materials are less common so far. In order to extend the available \r\nmaterial variety for the LS process, new ceramic-filled Polyamide 613 powders are investigated\r\nwithin the scope of this work. Here, the resulting properties from two different powder production \r\nmethods are compared. One filled powder is produced by dry blending and the other powder with \r\nthe same filler and filling ratio is produced by encapsulating the filler particles inside the polymer \r\nparticles within the dissolution-precipitation process. It was found that encapsulating the filler \r\nparticles can provide certain benefits for the processability, for example an improved powder \r\nflowability or better filler dispersion. However, encapsulating the filler also alters the thermal \r\nproperties of the precipitated powder.","lang":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://www.sffsymposium.org/","open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"year":"2023","title":"Assessing the Impact of the Powder Production Method on Ceramic-filled Polyamide Composites made by Laser Sintering","author":[{"id":"50769","full_name":"Kletetzka, Ivo","last_name":"Kletetzka","first_name":"Ivo"},{"first_name":"Fabian","last_name":"Neitzel","full_name":"Neitzel, Fabian"},{"orcid":"000-0001-8590-1921","first_name":"Hans-Joachim","last_name":"Schmid","full_name":"Schmid, Hans-Joachim","id":"464"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-11-02T16:49:49Z","intvolume":" 34","place":"Austin","oa":"1","citation":{"mla":"Kletetzka, Ivo, et al. “Assessing the Impact of the Powder Production Method on Ceramic-Filled Polyamide Composites Made by Laser Sintering.” <i>Proceedings of the 34th Annual International Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium</i>, edited by Joseph Beaman, vol. 34, Laboratory for Freeform Fabrication and University of Texas, 2023.","bibtex":"@inproceedings{Kletetzka_Neitzel_Schmid_2023, place={Austin}, title={Assessing the Impact of the Powder Production Method on Ceramic-filled Polyamide Composites made by Laser Sintering}, volume={34}, booktitle={Proceedings of the 34th Annual International Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium}, publisher={Laboratory for Freeform Fabrication and University of Texas}, author={Kletetzka, Ivo and Neitzel, Fabian and Schmid, Hans-Joachim}, editor={Beaman, Joseph}, year={2023} }","ama":"Kletetzka I, Neitzel F, Schmid H-J. The raw material for this process is flat wire made of high-strength steel. During the manufacturing process of the flat wire, residual stresses and plastic deformations are induced into the wire. These residual stresses and deformations fluctuate over the length of the semi-finished product and have a negative effect on the final product quality. Straightening machines are used to reduce this influence to a minimum. So far, the adjustment of a straightening machine has been performed manually, which is a lengthy and complex task even for an experienced worker. This inevitably leads to the use of inefficient straightening strategies and causes high rejection rates in the entire production process. Due to a lack of sensor information from the straightening operation, application of modern feedback control methods has not been practicable. This paper presents a novel design for a straightening machine with an integrated, precise straightening force measurement. By simultaneously monitoring the position of the straightening rollers, state variables of the straightening operation can be derived. Additionally, a tension control for feeding the flat wire is introduced. This is implemented to mitigate the disturbing effects caused by irregularities in the wire-feeding process. In the results of this article, the high precision of the developed force measurement design and its possible applications are shown."}]},{"date_created":"2023-10-18T13:00:54Z","file":[{"content_type":"application/pdf","file_id":"48483","date_updated":"2023-11-15T14:48:44Z","relation":"main_file","access_level":"open_access","file_size":2844502,"file_name":"SchTgbHaeb2023Final.pdf","date_created":"2023-10-26T08:20:15Z","creator":"schmalen"}],"oa":"1","department":[{"_id":"54"}],"type":"conference","citation":{"short":"J. The fabrication of low-loss optical waveguides, as well as high-grade periodically poled ferroelectric domain structures, requires a profound understanding of the material properties and crystal structure. In this regard, Raman spectroscopy offers the possibility to study and visualize domain structures, strain, defects, and the local stoichiometry, which are all factors impacting device performance. However, the accurate interpretation of Raman spectra and their changes with respect to extrinsic and intrinsic defects requires a thorough assignment of the Raman modes to their respective crystal features, which to date is only partly conducted based on phenomenological modelling. To address this issue, we calculated the phonon spectra of potassium titanyl phosphate and the related compounds rubidium titanyl phosphate (RbTiOPO4) and potassium titanyl arsenate (KTiOAsO4) based on density functional theory and compared them with experimental data. Overall, this allows us to assign various spectral features to eigenmodes of lattice substructures with improved detail compared to previous assignments. Nevertheless, the analysis also shows that not all features of the spectra can unambigiously be explained yet. A possible explanation might be that defects or long range fields not included in the modeling play a crucial rule for the resulting Raman spectrum. In conclusion, this work provides an improved foundation into the vibrational properties in the KTiOPO4 material family.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Crystals","issue":"10","doi":"10.3390/cryst13101423","article_number":"1423","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.3390/cryst13101423","open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-10-11T09:15:58Z","intvolume":" 13","title":"Vibrational Properties of the Potassium Titanyl Phosphate Crystal Family","year":"2023","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2073-4352"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Neufeld, Sergej","first_name":"Sergej","last_name":"Neufeld"},{"id":"171","orcid":"0000-0002-4476-223X","last_name":"Gerstmann","first_name":"Uwe","full_name":"Gerstmann, Uwe"},{"id":"40300","full_name":"Padberg, Laura","first_name":"Laura","last_name":"Padberg"},{"full_name":"Eigner, Christof","last_name":"Eigner","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5693-3083","first_name":"Christof","id":"13244"},{"id":"53","last_name":"Berth","first_name":"Gerhard","full_name":"Berth, Gerhard"},{"id":"26263","last_name":"Silberhorn","first_name":"Christine","full_name":"Silberhorn, Christine"},{"full_name":"Eng, Lukas M.","first_name":"Lukas M.","last_name":"Eng"},{"id":"468","orcid":"0000-0002-2717-5076","last_name":"Schmidt","first_name":"Wolf Gero","full_name":"Schmidt, Wolf Gero"},{"orcid":"0000-0003-4682-4577","last_name":"Rüsing","first_name":"Michael","full_name":"Rüsing, Michael","id":"22501"}],"oa":"1","quality_controlled":"1","project":[{"name":"TRR 142 - B07: TRR 142 - Polaronen-Einfluss auf die optischen Eigenschaften von Lithiumniobat (B07*)","_id":"168","grant_number":"231447078"},{"name":"TRR 142 - B: TRR 142 - Project Area B","_id":"55"},{"name":"PhoQC: PhoQC: Photonisches Quantencomputing","_id":"266","grant_number":"PROFILNRW-2020-067"}],"citation":{"ama":"Neufeld S, Gerstmann U, Padberg L, et al. However, this requires a large number of simulations with varying parameters and/or input pulses, which renders numerical studies expensive. This article investigates how we can use data-driven surrogate models based on the Koopman operator to accelerate this process. In order to be successful, we require a model that is accurate over a large number of time steps. To this end, we employ a bilinear Koopman model using extended dynamic mode decomposition and simulate the optical Bloch equations for an ensemble of inhomogeneously broadened two-level systems. Such systems are well suited to describe the excitation of excitonic resonances in semiconductor nanostructures, for example, ensembles of semiconductor quantum dots. We perform a detailed study on the required number of system simulations such that the resulting data-driven Koopman model is sufficiently accurate for a wide range of parameter settings. We analyze the L2 error and the relative error of the photon echo peak and investigate how the control positions relate to the stabilization. After proper training, the dynamics of the quantum ensemble can be predicted accurately and numerically very efficiently by our methods."}],"citation":{"mla":"Peitz, Sebastian, et al. <i>Accelerating the Analysis of Optical Quantum Systems Using the Koopman Operator</i>. 2023.","bibtex":"@article{Peitz_Hunstig_Rose_Meier_2023, title={Accelerating the analysis of optical quantum systems using the Koopman operator}, author={Peitz, Sebastian and Hunstig, Anna and Rose, Hendrik and Meier, Torsten}, year={2023} }","ama":"Peitz S, Hunstig A, Rose H, Meier T. Although the\r\nspatial distribution of the microphones is advantageous, exploiting the spatial diversity for diarization and signal enhancement is challenging, because the microphones’ positions are typically unknown, and the recorded signals are initially unsynchronized in general. Here, we approach these issues by first blindly synchronizing the signals and then estimating time differences of arrival (TDOAs). The TDOA information is exploited to estimate the speakers’ activity, even in the presence of multiple speakers being simultaneously active. This speaker activity information serves as a guide for a spatial mixture model, on which basis the individual speaker’s signals are extracted via beamforming. Finally, the extracted signals are forwarded to a speech recognizer. Additionally, a novel initialization scheme for spatial mixture models based on the TDOA estimates is proposed. Experiments conducted on real recordings from the LibriWASN data set have shown that our proposed system is advantageous compared to a system using a spatial mixture model, which does not make use\r\nof external diarization information.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Proc. On the other hand, it contributes to the successful implementation of digital media. Previous research findings in connection with the digital transformation focus on particular competencies of teachers (Meyer, Becker, and Bock 2023; Caruso, Heldt, and Drossel 2022; Vogelsang et al. 2023) and their cooperative behaviour (Drossel and Heldt 2022; Schulze, Drossel, and Eickelmann 2022). These questions whether school culture-related school types can be identified or not and how teachers perceive the school culture have been less considered so far. This article is dedicated to this question and explores if the school culture-related school types differ in terms of the background characteristics of the teachers. Based on a Latent Class Analysis, three school culture-related school types become apparent: strong in innovation and cooperation (Type I: 45.74 %), highly innovative and inhibited cooperation (Type II: 17.95 %), inhibited in terms of innovation and cooperation (Type III: 36.31 %). The types do not differ from each other regarding the background characteristics.","lang":"eng"},{"lang":"ger","text":"Angesichts des technischen Fortschritts, eines Digitalisierungsdefizits an deutschen Schulen sowie der Erfahrungen in Schule und Unterricht als Folge der Corona-Pandemie wird sichtbar, dass die Frage nach einer lernförderlichen Schulkultur im Zeitalter der di-gitalen Transformation ihre Relevanz behält: Einerseits zeigt sich, dass sich die Schul-kultur im Zeitalter der digitalen Transformation verändert, weil Potenziale und Heraus-forderungen für Schule und Unterricht mit dieser verbunden sind. The new requirements that come with Open Science poses researchers with several challenges. While most of these challenges have already been addressed in several studies, little attention has been paid so far to the underlying Open Science practices (OSP). An exploratory study was conducted focusing on the OSP relating to sharing and using data. 13 researchers from the Weizenbaum Institute were interviewed. The Weizenbaum Institute is an interdisciplinary research institute in Germany that was founded in 2017. To reconstruct OSP a grounded theory methodology (Strauss in Qualitative Analysis for Social Scientists, Cambridge University Press, Cambridge, 1987) was used and classified OSP into open production, open distribution and open consumption (Smith in Openness as social praxis. First Monday, 2017). The research shows that apart from the disciplinary background and research environment, the methodological approach and the type of research data play a major role in the context of OSP. The interviewees’ self-attributions related to the types of data they work with: qualitative, quantitative, social media and source code. With regard to the methodological approach and type of data, it was uncovered that uncertainties and missing knowledge, data protection, competitive disadvantages, vulnerability and costs are the main reasons for the lack of openness. The analyses further revealed that knowledge and established data infrastructures as well as competitive advantages act as drivers for openness. Because of the link between research data and OSP, the authors of this paper argue that in order to promote OSP, the methodological approach and the type of research data must also be considered.
"}],"issue":"4","publication":"Quality & Quantity"}]
