--- _id: '22894' abstract: - lang: eng text: "The first order optimality conditions of optimal control problems (OCPs) can\r\nbe regarded as boundary value problems for Hamiltonian systems. Variational or\r\nsymplectic discretisation methods are classically known for their excellent\r\nlong term behaviour. As boundary value problems are posed on intervals of\r\nfixed, moderate length, it is not immediately clear whether methods can profit\r\nfrom structure preservation in this context. When parameters are present,\r\nsolutions can undergo bifurcations, for instance, two solutions can merge and\r\nannihilate one another as parameters are varied. We will show that generic\r\nbifurcations of an OCP are preserved under discretisation when the OCP is\r\neither directly discretised to a discrete OCP (direct method) or translated\r\ninto a Hamiltonian boundary value problem using first order necessary\r\nconditions of optimality which is then solved using a symplectic integrator\r\n(indirect method). Moreover, certain bifurcations break when a non-symplectic\r\nscheme is used. The general phenomenon is illustrated on the example of a cut\r\nlocus of an ellipsoid." author: - first_name: Christian full_name: Offen, Christian id: '85279' last_name: Offen orcid: 0000-0002-5940-8057 - first_name: Sina full_name: Ober-Blöbaum, Sina id: '16494' last_name: Ober-Blöbaum citation: ama: Offen C, Ober-Blöbaum S. Comparably, the parental compound, i.e., undoped SBN, appears to be less studied so far. Here, two different cuts of single-crystalline nominally pure strontium barium niobate in the composition Sr0.61Ba0.39Nb2O6 (SBN61) are comprehensively studied and analyzed with regard to their photoconductive responses. We present conductance measurements under systematically varied illumination conditions along either the polar z-axis or perpendicular to it (x-cut). Apart from a pronounced photoconductance (PC) already under daylight and a large effect upon super-bandgap illumination in general, we observe (i) distinct spectral features when sweeping the excitation wavelength over the sub-bandgap region as then discussed in the context of deep and shallow trap states, (ii) extremely slow long-term relaxation for both light-on and light-off transients in the range of hours and days, (iii) a critical dependence of the photoresponse on the pre-illumination history of the sample, and (iv) a current–voltage hysteresis depending on both the illumination and the electrical-measurement conditions in a complex manner. article_number: '780' article_type: original author: - first_name: Elke full_name: Beyreuther, Elke last_name: Beyreuther - first_name: Julius full_name: Ratzenberger, Julius last_name: Ratzenberger - first_name: Matthias full_name: Roeper, Matthias last_name: Roeper - first_name: Benjamin full_name: Kirbus, Benjamin last_name: Kirbus - first_name: Michael full_name: Rüsing, Michael id: '22501' last_name: Rüsing orcid: 0000-0003-4682-4577 - first_name: Liudmila I. full_name: Ivleva, Liudmila I. last_name: Ivleva - first_name: Lukas M. full_name: Eng, Lukas M. last_name: Eng citation: ama: Beyreuther E, Ratzenberger J, Roeper M, et al. The uPIT criterion was proposed for utterance-level separation with neural networks and introduces the constraint that the total number of speakers must not exceed the number of output channels. When processing meeting-like data in a segment-wise manner, i.e., by separating overlapping segments independently and stitching adjacent segments to continuous output streams, this constraint has to be fulfilled for any segment. In this contribution, we show that this constraint can be significantly relaxed. We propose a novel graph-based PIT criterion, which casts the assignment of utterances to output channels in a graph coloring problem. It only requires that the number of concurrently active speakers must not exceed the number of output channels. As a consequence, the system can process an arbitrary number of speakers and arbitrarily long segments and thus can handle more diverse scenarios.\r\nFurther, the stitching algorithm for obtaining a consistent output order in neighboring segments is of less importance and can even be eliminated completely, not the least reducing the computational effort. Experiments on meeting-style WSJ data show improvements in recognition performance over using the uPIT criterion. Our presented solution is an advancement of our system used in the previous edition of the task.We use a forward-backward convolutional recurrent neural network (FBCRNN) for tagging and pseudo labeling followed by tag-conditioned sound event detection (SED) models which are trained using strong pseudo labels provided by the FBCRNN. Our advancement over our earlier model is threefold. First, we introduce a strong label loss in the objective of the FBCRNN to take advantage of the strongly labeled synthetic data during training. Second, we perform multiple iterations of self-training for both the FBCRNN and tag-conditioned SED models. Third, while we used only tag-conditioned CNNs as our SED model in the previous edition we here explore sophisticated tag-conditioned SED model architectures, namely, bidirectional CRNNs and bidirectional convolutional transformer neural networks (CTNNs), and combine them. With metric and class specific tuning of median filter lengths for post-processing, our final SED model, consisting of 6 submodels (2 of each architecture), achieves on the public evaluation set poly-phonic sound event detection scores (PSDS) of 0.455 for scenario 1 and 0.684 for scenario as well as a collar-based F1-score of 0.596 outperforming the baselines and our model from the previous edition by far. With state-of-the-art sound recognition being dominated by deep-learning-based approaches, there is a high demand for labeled training data. Despite the availability of large-scale data sets such as Google's AudioSet, acquiring training data matching a certain application environment is still often a problem. In this paper we are concerned with human activity monitoring in a domestic environment using an ASN consisting of multiple nodes each providing multichannel signals. We propose a self-training based domain adaptation approach, which only requires unlabeled data from the target environment. Here, a sound recognition system trained on AudioSet, the teacher, generates pseudo labels for data from the target environment on which a student network is trained. The student can furthermore glean information about the spatial arrangement of sensors and sound sources to further improve classification performance. It is shown that the student significantly improves recognition performance over the pre-trained teacher without relying on labeled data from the environment the system is deployed in. author: - first_name: Janek full_name: Ebbers, Janek id: '34851' last_name: Ebbers - first_name: Moritz Curt full_name: Keyser, Moritz Curt last_name: Keyser - first_name: Reinhold full_name: Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold id: '242' last_name: Haeb-Umbach citation: ama: 'Ebbers J, Keyser MC, Haeb-Umbach R. In this paper, we argue that a novel conceptual framework is needed to overcome shortcomings of existing AI systems with little attention to processes of interaction and learning. Drawing from research in interaction and development, we first outline the novel conceptual framework that pushes the design of AI systems toward true interactivity with an emphasis on the role of the partner and social relevance. We propose that AI systems will be able to provide a meaningful and relevant explanation only if the process of explaining is extended to active contribution of both partners that brings about dynamics that is modulated by different levels of analysis. Accordingly, our conceptual framework comprises monitoring and scaffolding as key concepts and claims that the process of explaining is not only modulated by the interaction between explainee and explainer but is embedded into a larger social context in which conventionalized and routinized behaviors are established. We discuss our conceptual framework in relation to the established objectives of transparency and autonomy that are raised for the design of explainable AI systems currently. article_type: original author: - first_name: Katharina J. full_name: Rohlfing, Katharina J. id: '50352' last_name: Rohlfing - first_name: Philipp full_name: Cimiano, Philipp last_name: Cimiano - first_name: Ingrid full_name: Scharlau, Ingrid id: '451' last_name: Scharlau orcid: 0000-0003-2364-9489 - first_name: Tobias full_name: Matzner, Tobias id: '65695' last_name: Matzner - first_name: Heike M. full_name: Buhl, Heike M. id: '27152' last_name: Buhl - first_name: Hendrik full_name: Buschmeier, Hendrik last_name: Buschmeier - first_name: Elena full_name: Esposito, Elena last_name: Esposito - first_name: Angela full_name: Grimminger, Angela id: '57578' last_name: Grimminger - first_name: Barbara full_name: Hammer, Barbara last_name: Hammer - first_name: Reinhold full_name: Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold id: '242' last_name: Haeb-Umbach - first_name: Ilona full_name: Horwath, Ilona id: '68836' last_name: Horwath - first_name: Eyke full_name: Hüllermeier, Eyke id: '48129' last_name: Hüllermeier - first_name: Friederike full_name: Kern, Friederike last_name: Kern - first_name: Stefan full_name: Kopp, Stefan last_name: Kopp - first_name: Kirsten full_name: Thommes, Kirsten id: '72497' last_name: Thommes - first_name: Axel-Cyrille full_name: Ngonga Ngomo, Axel-Cyrille id: '65716' last_name: Ngonga Ngomo - first_name: Carsten full_name: Schulte, Carsten id: '60311' last_name: Schulte - first_name: Henning full_name: Wachsmuth, Henning id: '3900' last_name: Wachsmuth - first_name: Petra full_name: Wagner, Petra last_name: Wagner - first_name: Britta full_name: Wrede, Britta last_name: Wrede citation: ama: 'Rohlfing KJ, Cimiano P, Scharlau I, et al. By controlling workpiece properties during the process, beneficial effects caused by forming can be exploited and integrated in the product design. The overall goal of this investigation is to produce tailored tubular parts with a defined locally graded microstructure by means of reverse flow forming. For this purpose, the proposed system aims to control both the desired geometry of the workpiece and additionally the formation of strain-induced α′-martensite content in the metastable austenitic stainless steel AISI 304 L. The paper introduces an overall control scheme, a geometry model for describing the process and changes in the dimensions of the workpiece, as well as a material model for the process-induced formation of martensite, providing equations based on empirical data. Moreover, measurement systems providing a closed feedback loop are presented, including a novel softsensor for in-situ measurements of the martensite content. article_number: '100057' author: - first_name: Markus full_name: Riepold, Markus last_name: Riepold - first_name: Bahman full_name: Arian, Bahman id: '36287' last_name: Arian - first_name: Julian Rozo full_name: Vasquez, Julian Rozo last_name: Vasquez - first_name: Werner full_name: Homberg, Werner id: '233' last_name: Homberg - first_name: Frank full_name: Walther, Frank last_name: Walther - first_name: Ansgar full_name: Trächtler, Ansgar id: '552' last_name: Trächtler citation: ama: Riepold M, Arian B, Vasquez JR, Homberg W, Walther F, Trächtler A. Drawing on the idea that metaphors give insight into\r\nimplicit conceptions of abstract entities and processes, we developed a detailed and\r\ndifferentiated set of conceptual metaphors that can be used to study student ideas about\r\nwriting in research, teaching, and interventions. A large sample of undergraduates produced\r\ntheir everyday understanding of writing in short texts beginning with a self-generated\r\nmetaphor. Based on theories from cognitive linguistics, the conceptual metaphors in their\r\ntexts were analyzed in terms of their action quality (transitivity) and spatiality (spatial\r\nprimitives). The undergraduates’ conceptualizations were very heterogeneous. Most\r\nmetaphors depart strongly from scientific approaches to academic writing within cognitive\r\npsychology and sociocultural theory. Roughly half of the metaphors could be collated to one\r\nof four metaphor systems. Depending on the desired degree of abstraction or concreteness,\r\nconceptual metaphors or metaphor systems can be employed in further studies to illuminate\r\nthinking about writing." author: - first_name: Ingrid full_name: Scharlau, Ingrid id: '451' last_name: Scharlau orcid: 0000-0003-2364-9489 - first_name: Andrea full_name: Karsten, Andrea id: '53917' last_name: Karsten orcid: 0000-0003-0194-2000 - first_name: Katharina full_name: Rohlfing, Katharina id: '50352' last_name: Rohlfing citation: ama: Scharlau I, Karsten A, Rohlfing K. Visual and geometrical properties are a major criterion for characterizing the resulting component quality. The aim of this study was to investigate the influences on visual and geometrical properties of APF components depending on process parameters. Initially the focus was on the analysis of the shrinkage behavior of ABS-M30 (Stratasys). On the basis of the results and an existing procedure by the machine manufacturer, an optimized procedure for determining the scaling factors was developed to counteract the shrinkage. With this procedure a higher dimensional accuracy of the components can be achieved. In addition, it was investigated whether an adaption of the form factor based on a mathematical model depending on the component geometry makes sense. The results were transferred into manufacturing guidelines, which allow the user of the APF-technology to optimize process parameters more efficiently. author: - first_name: Elmar full_name: Moritzer, Elmar id: '20531' last_name: Moritzer - first_name: Felix full_name: Hecker, Felix id: '45537' last_name: Hecker - first_name: Christian Lennart full_name: Elsner, Christian Lennart id: '70729' last_name: Elsner - first_name: André full_name: Hirsch, André id: '27599' last_name: Hirsch citation: ama: 'Moritzer E, Hecker F, Elsner CL, Hirsch A. A new, similar process to FDM is the Arburg Plastic Freeforming (APF). The main differences between both processes are the form of the starting material (FDM: Filaments, APF: Conventional granulate) and the material deposition during the layer formation (FDM: Melt strand, APF: fine molten droplets).\r\nSince the two processes can be used in similar applications, the aim of this study is to compare both processes in a holistic way. Furthermore, the advantages and disadvantages of the processes are to be highlighted. The systematic comparison between a Stratasys 400mc and the Freeformer 200-3X is divided into the areas of component properties, design limitations and economic efficiency. The material ABS-M30 (Stratasys) is used in both processes. The results show comparable component properties regarding mechanical and optical properties but also differences in design limitations and cost efficiency.\r\n" author: - first_name: Elmar full_name: Moritzer, Elmar id: '20531' last_name: Moritzer - first_name: Felix full_name: Hecker, Felix id: '45537' last_name: Hecker - first_name: Christine full_name: Driediger, Christine last_name: Driediger - first_name: André full_name: Hirsch, André id: '27599' last_name: Hirsch citation: ama: 'Moritzer E, Hecker F, Driediger C, Hirsch A. One disadvantage of the APF is the long residence time of the molten material in the plasticizing unit compared to conventional injection moulding. The dosing volume is emptied very slowly due to only discharging fine plastic droplets. As a result, long residence times can be expected, which can lead to thermal degradation of the material.\r\nThe aim of this study was to develop a model for calculating the residence time of the material in the APF. The residence time of the material in the thermally critical dosing volume is predicted using software developed in-house. The accuracy of the model could be verified by experimental investigations. Therefore, the laser sintering technology is predestinated to manufacture these components as it offers a very high degree of design freedom and good mechanical properties.\r\nFor industrial applications the long-term properties of the SLS material in contact with liquid media are important and were therefore investigated for PA12, PP and PA613. Hereby, different media such as motor oil or Glysantin based coolant were tested with different temperatures and immersion times of up to 26 weeks. The mechanical properties were tested after immersion and compared to injection molded samples. Furthermore, laser sintering design guidelines for media-carrying components were developed. These guidelines for instance include the minimum wall thickness to ensure media tightness and the removal of powder from channels with a high length to diameter ratio." author: - first_name: Ivo full_name: Kletetzka, Ivo id: '50769' last_name: Kletetzka - first_name: Christina full_name: Kummert, Christina last_name: Kummert - first_name: Hans-Joachim full_name: Schmid, Hans-Joachim id: '464' last_name: Schmid orcid: 000-0001-8590-1921 citation: ama: 'Kletetzka I, Kummert C, Schmid H-J. With this essay, we contradict Latour's diagnosis. Latour’s polemic against critique is based firstly on a questionable diagnosis of our time and secondly on a general and programmatic critique of sociology. Against that, we bring out two main points. The first insight highlights that change is initially dependent on variations that can only arise from a negation of the existing. The second insight comes from the sociology of critique, which paradoxically sees success in the failure of critique. author: - first_name: Christoph full_name: Haker, Christoph id: '104448' last_name: Haker - first_name: Lukas full_name: Otterspeer, Lukas last_name: Otterspeer citation: ama: Haker C, Otterspeer L. In this study, a non-linear, flexible multibody model of a rear axle system is built up in the simulation software MSC Adams/View. The physical model comprises the suspension kinematics, compliance, and dynamics as well as the non-linear behavior of the tire using the FTire model. FTire is chosen because it has a separate tire tread model to compute the contact pressure and friction force distribution in the tire contact patch. To build up the simulation model, a large amount of data is needed. Bushings, spring, and damper characteristics are modeled based on measurements. For the structural components (e.g., control arms), reverse engineering techniques are used. The components are 3D-scanned, reworked, and included as a modal reduced finite element (FE)-model using component mode synthesis by Craig–Bampton. Finally, the suspension model is validated by comparing the simulated kinematic and compliance characteristics to experimental results. To investigate the interaction of suspension kinematics and tire wear, straight line driving events, such as acceleration, driving with constant velocity, and deceleration, are simulated with different setups of wheel suspension kinematics. The influence of the setups on the resulting friction work between tire and road is examined, and an exemplarily calculation of tire wear based on a validated FTire tire model is carried out. The results demonstrate, on the one hand, that the chosen concept of elasto-kinematic axle leads to a relatively good match with experimental results and, on the other hand, that there are significant possibilities to reduce tire wear by adjusting the suspension kinematics. author: - first_name: Jan full_name: Schütte, Jan id: '22109' last_name: Schütte orcid: 0000-0001-9025-9742 - first_name: Walter full_name: Sextro, Walter id: '21220' last_name: Sextro citation: ama: Schütte J, Sextro W. Eine wichtige Rolle spielen dabei der sogenannte Habitus der Lehrer*innen und dessen (Nicht-)Passung zur sozialen Herkunft der Schüler*innen. First, studies investigated personal variables such as students´ self-efficacy, emotions and motivation regarding the transition from school to HE. A second strand of research focused on contextual variables, for instance college effectiveness research. With this paper, we combine both the personal and the contextual approach. We aim to investigate the interaction between personal and contextual diversity during the transition into HE, taking into account students’ diversity in particular with regard to gender and individual characteristics, such as self-efficacy. We explored the heterogeneity in students’ personal characteristics by conducting a latent profile analysis (LPA) based on students’ intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy and anxiety before entering Higher Education. LPA resulted in three distinct profiles, with significant differences in how students perceived the first year. This finding suggests that students’ personal characteristics when entering Higher Education influence how they experience the study environment. To investigate the interplay between individual and contextual differences in more detail, we conducted a qualitative longitudinal study with 14 first-year students in parallel with the panel survey. We found that individual students react very differently to specific characteristics and events of the first-year environment. Our study adds to the growing body of research that aims to grasp the complexity of interactions between individual and contextual differences. - lang: eng text: Design processes of ultrasonic transducers become increasingly simulation-driven due to rising computational capabilities. Therewithin, the choice of the material parameters for modelling the materials used is particularly important for a realistic simulation result. Piezoceramics, which couple mechanic and electrical properties, are often used as active elements in ultrasonic transducers. The IEEE Standard on Piezoelectricity is a standardised procedure for determining these parameters that requires five impedance measurements on four piezocermics of different geometry. Since only a subset of all necessary material parameters can be determined for each individual specimen, these are then combined to form a complete set of material parameters. Due to different processing conditions for each specimen, this set of material parameters is inconsistent and cannot describe the behaviour of a single specimen appropriately. Therefore, in the present thesis, a method is developed with enables the determination of all relevant material parameters including damping on a single piezocermic by means of electrical impedance measurements alone. A piezoelectric ceramic with disc-shaped geometry, which is frequently used in applications, is used as a specimen. In order to ensure a sufficiently high sensitivity to all material parameters, it is manufactured with an optimised electrode topology. Because in this case analytical solutions, which relate the measurement quantities to the material parameters, do not exist, the measurement method is implemented using an inverse approach. author: - first_name: Nadine full_name: Feldmann, Nadine id: '23082' last_name: Feldmann citation: ama: Feldmann N.   Ein modellbasiertes Messverfahren zur Charakterisierung von Piezokeramiken unter Verwendung eines einzelnen scheibenförmigen Probekörpers.
