text: Over the last few decades, a large variety of nucleic acid‑based therapeutic
approaches and drug formulations have been developed in the lab, tested in the
clinic, and brought to market, ranging from antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs)
and siRNAs to aptamer inhibitors and mRNA vaccines, with DNA and RNA nanostructure
therapeutics already looming on the horizon. However, being susceptible toward
hydrolysis, oxidation, non‑specific binding, and nuclease digestion, unmodified
nucleic acids are rapidly degraded in vivo, resulting in poor therapeutic performance.
Therefore, several stabilization strategies have been developed in order to protect
those fragile molecules against adverse conditions during storage and in the body,
while simultaneously accommodating their various mechanisms of action such as
cellular uptake, target binding, or translation. These strategies include chemical
modifications at the nucleoside level, complexation with proteins and polymers,
and encapsulation in lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Despite this variety of available
methods, the field still faces many challenges, and this issue aims to provide
an overview of the ongoing efforts to enhance the stability of therapeutic nucleic
    acids.

  text: "
Abstract
\r\n
Deceptive
actions such as head fakes are a hallmark of interactive sports, yet it is not
well understood how decisions and whole-body responses to head fakes unfold over
time. In the present study, participants viewed video sequences of a basketball
player passing to the left or right, either with or without a head fake. In the
buzzer task, participants moved laterally to press a response button as if to
intercept the pass. In the vocal task, they verbally indicated pass direction.
Reaction times (RTs), movement times (MTs), and medio-lateral center-of-pressure
(CoP) displacements were recorded to investigate whether motor output is rapid
and stimulus-driven or rather requires continuous integration of fake and pass
cues. Further, we investigated whether the mere observation of a basketball player
leads to overt micromovements even if no response movement is intended. The data
analysis shows that head fakes increased RTs in both the buzzer and vocal tasks.
In the buzzer task, head fakes induced an initial, small erroneous CoP shift,
which was then rapidly corrected. When CoP trajectories were aligned by head orientation,
fake and non-fake trajectories diverged shortly after movement onset. In the present
dynamic sport-related context, this pattern is more compatible with the early
integration of head and pass information than with a strictly sequential prime-target
account, although the paradigm differs from classic Rapid Chase Theory designs
with discrete primes and target events. In the vocal task, participants were not
instructed to move, yet CoP traces showed tiny but systematically lateralized
micromovements with a temporal structure resembling that in the buzzer task, albeit
without an initial erroneous shift for head fakes. These postural fluctuations
are consistent with action-observation-related motor activation, although they
do not uniquely identify motor resonance and may also reflect attentional or generalized
embodied response tendencies. A clear deceptive response conflict at the postural
level emerged only when a lateralized action was prepared.
"

text: Multimode quantum light has promising applications in many areas of physics,
such as quantum communications and quantum computing. However, its multimode nature
also makes it challenging to measure its properties. Recently [I. Barakat et al.,
Optica Quantum 3, 36 (2025)], a technique for the simultaneous measurement of
squeezing of multiple broadband modes based on a phase-sensitive amplification
approach was experimentally implemented using a setup that effectively corresponds
to an SU(1,1) interferometer. Here, we aim to provide a complete theoretical analysis
of the modal structure of (generally unbalanced) SU(1,1) interferometers and a
detailed theoretical formal derivation of the framework for this technique. Utilizing
the joint Schmidt decomposition of the transfer functions, we investigate the
shape and phase profiles of the modes of the SU(1,1) interferometer and its components
[parametric down-conversion (PDC) sections] for different parametric gain regimes.
We discover a complicated interplay between the PDC modes and the modes of the
entire interferometer, and analyze it by using their overlap coefficients as a
similarity measure. Finally, we develop a rigorous processing method for the aforementioned
multimode squeezing measurement technique and discuss necessary approximations
to make this method experimentally feasible.

text: This article examines the most frequently attributed statement of Jesus in
    the Qur’an, namely, ‘God is my Lord and your Lord’ (Q 19:36; Q 43:64; Q 3:51;
Q 5:72; Q 5:117). It investigates the extent to which this formula is connected
to Jesus’s words to Mary Magdalene on Easter morning in John 20:17. The analysis
aims to show that the Qur’an critically engages with the Christian interpretive
tradition surrounding this statement as recorded in John’s Gospel and adapts it
    – both contextually and verbally – within its own theological framework. As in
the Christian tradition, this Qur’anic engagement also generates a broader discourse
on the hermeneutics of scriptural interpretation.

text: In September 2025, over 100K internal documents (including code, communications,
etc.) from Geedge Networks, a Chinese DPI company with ties to the Great Firewall
of China, were leaked to the public. In this paper, we analyze the source code
from this leak, focusing on Geedge Networks’ flagship product, the Tiangou Secure
Gateway (TSG) firewall. Working across multiple repositories, we successfully
build and run a local copy of TSG—revealing key aspects of its architecture, including
the protocols it is capable of parsing and the format of blocking rules used to
censor sites, proxies, and other resources. Finally, we extract several fingerprints
from TSG, including custom random number generators and parsing idiosyncrasies
that allow us to identify its use and similar deployments in the Great Firewall
of China. This is the first time that the source code of a commercial DPI has
been leaked, and our work is the first code analysis of a core firewall component
used in national censorship infrastructure. This unprecedented investigation offers
insights that can assist circumvention developers and Internet security researchers
in further understanding the capabilities and limitations of modern censorship
    technology.

text: 'Governments around the world limit free access to information through Internet
censorship. With the rising adoption of the QUIC protocol, these censors have
been forced to evolve their systems. Russia introduced sweeping changes to its
censorship after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including completely blocking
international QUIC connections. However, after this broad filter was identified
in 2022, Russian QUIC censorship received little attention: The current state
of QUIC censorship by TSPU devices is largely unknown. In this paper, we provide
a timeline of Russian QUIC censorship and detail its current state. We identify
that Russian TSPU devices switched to SNI-dependent QUIC censorship on a large
scale between May 2022 and July 2023, a fact that went largely unnoticed for three
years. While the GFW was previously thought to be the first censor with broad
SNI-dependent QUIC censorship, we highlight that Russian TSPU devices broadly
adopted SNI-dependent QUIC censorship at least nine months before the GFW. We
consider this an indicator of the TSPU devices’ flexibility and of Russia’s willingness
to invest in strict and up-to-date censorship.'

text: This qualitative case study investigates how automated feedback from a widely
accessible digital curriculum resource influences students’ mathematics learning.
Drawing on a dialogic feedback framework, the study analyzes students’ feedback
processes in an ecologically valid learning context. Grounded in a sociocultural
perspective, the framework integrates Carless’ dialogic conceptualization of feedback,
Shute’s feedback typology, and Vergnaud’s scheme theory. Eight eighth-graders
from a German secondary school worked individually on percentage problems at home,
video-recorded via online conferencing. Data included screen recordings and think-aloud
protocols, which were analyzed using qualitative text analysis. Results reveal
large individual differences in feedback processes—students vary in when and how
they access feedback messages and how they make sense of them. Successfully solving
a task after feedback does not always indicate understanding; in some cases, feedback
aided procedural completion without conceptual insight. The effectiveness depended
on the alignment between task design, feedback message content, and students’
actual difficulties. The study concludes that qualitative analysis of feedback
processes with digital technologies in ecologically valid settings is necessary
to target specific student difficulties and promote learning.

text: The metal-organic framework CPO-27 exhibits free coordination sites (open
metal sites) and can be prepared with a wide range of metals that influence its
properties. It is therefore an intriguing structure to study sorption phenomena.
We analyze the water resistance and sorption behavior of these frameworks, with
particular attention to the sorption mechanism in detail and the structure of
the confined water molecules. For this purpose, we use manometric water vapor
sorption analysis and FTIR spectroscopy. The respective metal center orchestrates
both the adsorption behavior and the arrangement of the water molecules in the
micropores of the framework. The extent to which water molecules form hydrogen
bonds (with each other and with framework oxygen atoms) plays a crucial role in
the stability of the framework towards water. Water adsorption is governed by
the coordination of water molecules to the open metal sites (except for CPO-27-Cu)
and subsequent H-bonding. A stepwise adsorption of water is observed, with significant
differences depending on the choice of metal.

  text: "
Abstract
\r\n
Statistics and machine
learning are critical because they play an essential role in our everyday lives
and the careers we may pursue in the future. It may be beneficial to introduce
machine learning, such as decision trees (DTs), at an early stage of education.
The data-based construction of DTs is an example of a machine learning process,
which can be addressed in mathematics or statistics teaching because of relatively
low prior knowledge requirements. This paper focuses on investigating how sixth-grade
students create and evaluate data-based DTs. The basis is a teaching unit that
aims to lay the foundation for machine learning and enhance students’ understanding
of the process. We investigate students’ processes in detail while they build
DTs with data cards about food items to predict whether a new item is recommendable.
After the teaching unit, an interview study examines students’ strategies for
creating decision trees. The findings contribute to understanding students’ learning
processes and the challenges when working with decision trees.
"

text: In the last decade, there has been increasing interest in allowing users to
understand how the predictions of machine-learned models come about, thus increasing
transparency and empowering users to understand and potentially contest those
decisions.Dialogue-based approaches, in contrast to traditional one-shot eXplainable
Artificial Intelligence (XAI) methods, facilitate interactive, in-depth exploration
through multi-turn dialogues, simulating expert conversations. This paper reviews
the current state of dialogue-based XAI, presenting a systematic review of 1,339
publications, narrowed down to 14 based on inclusion criteria. We explore theoretical
foundations of the systems, propose key dimensions along which different solutions
to dialogue-based XAI differ, and identify key use cases, target audiences, system
components, and the types of supported queries and responses. Furthermore, we
investigate the current paradigms by which systems are evaluated and highlight
their key limitations. Key findings include identifying the main use cases, objectives,
and audiences targeted by dialogue-based XAI methods, and summarize the main types
of questions and information needs. Beyond discussing avenues for future work,
we present a meta-architecture for these systems from existing literature and
    outlined prevalent theoretical frameworks.
