text: The article explores the role of teachers in self-directed songwriting in
school music based on the informal learning approach. It investigates a didactic
design that was implemented in six schools and was empirically researched utilizing
si-tuational analysis. Based on tensions, that emerge due to conflicting expectations,
it can be shown, that the teacher's role extends beyond the dichotomy of directive
instruction versus open facilitation. Instead, it encompasses an interplay of
six divergent roles which are discussed in their positions in relation to each
other. These considerations enrich the understanding of teaching practices in
popular music education, emphasizing the redefinition of teacher-student relationships
    for song-writing in school music.

text: The role of institutionalized standards for the hybridization of musical practices.
On the socio-materiality of songwriting-producing in the bedroom studio This study
examines the socio-materiality of hybrid music practices in bedroom studios, focusing
on the interplay between traditional music education institutions and YouTube
education. A single case situational analysis reveals how standardized instrumental
and music production practices are combined to form a hybrid practice. It shows
that traditional music education institutions, such as music schools and conservatories,
specialize in the selection of chord tones, while You-Tube videos focus on sound
design. Using an actor-network theory approach, the study demonstrates the permeability
of informal and institutional learning spaces. The findings suggest that songwriting-producing
is not simply a sum of different practices, but rather a process of negotiation
and compromise between different standards and goals, as well as the distribution
of practice between humans and technology.

text: "Lead-containing piezoelectric ceramics are still the base for today’s ultrasonic
transducers used in broad applications. This is partly due to missing powerful
lead-free piezoelectric ceramic parts in the commercial market. There has been
much research on lead-free materials but developing them into marketable parts
seems to be an ongoing process. The actual exemption of ROHS has expired, but
as the new exemption has already been requested, ceramic suppliers keep on selling
lead containing products. Nevertheless, these should be replaced by lead-free
alternatives for environmental and health issues. \r\nThis contribution focuses
on exploring the technological readiness level of lead-free hard piezoceramics
for prestressed ultrasonic transducers. A small series of bolted Langevin transducers
was set up with standard PZT material and three commercial lead-free variants.
Results of the building process from individual ring ceramic characteristics to
transducer load tests are presented. The main finding of this study is that the
lead-free materials technically can compete with the standard PZT for medium-power
applications. Some adaptations in the ultrasonic system must be done: the geometry
must be altered to fit resonance frequency, and higher voltages or thinner ceramics
are needed to achieve the same vibration level at low load. For reaching same
power, the volume of lead-free ceramics must be 1.5 to 3 times larger. As already
promoted in literature, mechanical losses at high vibration levels are smaller
for the lead-free materials. This might help to argument lead-free piezoelectric
    materials in some applications.\r\n\r\nReferences\r\n1.\tDirective 2011/65/EU

text: "Intensive ultrasonic cleaning of surfaces by means of a lead-free ultrasonic
transducer with focusing sonotrode\r\nUltrasonic cleaning baths are probably a
coincidental development: After underwater sonars had already been successfully
used to detect submarines before 1920, it was probably observed in this environment
that the ultrasonic oscillators not only showed a self-cleaning effect but also
cavitation damage. At the beginning of the 1950s, the first ultrasonic cleaning
devices finally came onto the market. Today, the range of applications ranges
from household appliances for jewellery and eyewear cleaning to classic cleaning
baths for metal parts and systems for cleaning highly sensitive electronic components.
There is a certain gap in handheld, mobile cleaning equipment. Although devices
for spot cleaning of textiles are known, the cleaning effect is usually low. \r\nDue
to the directive 2011/65/EU on the restriction of the use of hazardous substances
in electrical and electronic equipment (RoHS) [1] lead should no longer be used
in technical devices. As today’s standard ceramics for medium and high-power ultrasonic
transducers typically contain lead, there is a need to explore the use of lead-free
ceramics in this field. Honda [2] already offers a cleaning transducer based on
lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, but it is designed to be used in cleaning baths.\r\nThis
article presents the model-based development of a highly innovative ultrasonic
cleaner. On the one hand, lead-free piezoelectric ceramics are used, and on the
other hand, a special sonotrode has been developed that concentrates the sound
in such a way that a strong cavitation and thus cleaning effect is achieved with
comparatively low power in a short time. Coupled field finite element method was
used to find an appropriate geometry for the focussing sonotrode. The comparison
of simulation and measurement results shows that the lead-free piezoceramics used
do their job well and can keep up with standard ceramics, but more ceramic volume
is needed to achieve same power. An advanced control concept was elaborated to
ensure continuous hard cavitation at varying distances between the sonotrode and
the part to be cleaned. Cleaning results for different surfaces and contaminations
are presented. The concept of the focusing sonotrode shows that a convincing cleaning
result can be achieved even with low power and in short time, provided that the
oscillation system and control electronics are suitably coordinated.\r\n\r\nReferences\r\n[1]

text: Since the emergence of the field of eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI),
a growing number of researchers have argued that XAI should consider insights
from the social sciences in order to adapt explanations to the expectations and
needs of human users. This has led to the emergence of a field called Social XAI,
which is concerned with understanding how explanations are actively shaped in
the interaction between a human user and an AI system. Recognizing this turn in
XAI toward making XAI systems more “social” by providing explanations that focus
on human information needs and incorporating insights from human–human explanatory
interactions, in this paper we provide a formal foundation for Social XAI. We
do so by proposing novel ontological accounts of the key terms used in Social
XAI based on Basic Formal Ontology (BFO). Specifically, we provide novel ontological
accounts for explanandum, explanans, understanding, explanation, explainer, explainee,
and context. In doing so, we discuss multifaceted entities in Social XAI (having
both continuant and occurrent facets; e.g., explanation) and the relationship
between understanding and explanation. Additionally, we propose solutions to seemingly
paradoxical views on some terms (e.g., social constructivist vs. individual constructivist
    perspective on explanandum).

text: "The ability to generate explanations that are understood by explainees is
the\r\nquintessence of explainable artificial intelligence. Since understanding\r\ndepends
on the explainee's background and needs, recent research focused on\r\nco-constructive
explanation dialogues, where an explainer continuously monitors\r\nthe explainee's
understanding and adapts their explanations dynamically. We\r\ninvestigate the
ability of large language models (LLMs) to engage as explainers\r\nin co-constructive
explanation dialogues. In particular, we present a user\r\nstudy in which explainees
interact with an LLM in two settings, one of which\r\ninvolves the LLM being instructed
to explain a topic co-constructively. We\r\nevaluate the explainees' understanding
before and after the dialogue, as well\r\nas their perception of the LLMs' co-constructive
behavior. Our results suggest\r\nthat LLMs show some co-constructive behaviors,
such as asking verification\r\nquestions, that foster the explainees' engagement
and can improve understanding\r\nof a topic. However, their ability to effectively
monitor the current\r\nunderstanding and scaffold the explanations accordingly
    remains limited."

text: Recent advances on instruction fine-tuning have led to the development of
various prompting techniques for large language models, such as explicit reasoning
steps. However, the success of techniques depends on various parameters, such
as the task, language model, and context provided. Finding an effective prompt
is, therefore, often a trial-and-error process. Most existing approaches to automatic
prompting aim to optimize individual techniques instead of compositions of techniques
and their dependence on the input. To fill this gap, we propose an adaptive prompting
approach that predicts the optimal prompt composition ad-hoc for a given input.
We apply our approach to social bias detection, a highly context-dependent task
that requires semantic understanding. We evaluate it with three large language
models on three datasets, comparing compositions to individual techniques and
other baselines. The results underline the importance of finding an effective
prompt composition. Our approach robustly ensures high detection performance,
and is best in several settings. Moreover, first experiments on other tasks support
    its generalizability.

text: "This study contributes to the evolving field of robot learning in interaction\r\nwith
humans, examining the impact of diverse input modalities on learning\r\noutcomes.
It introduces the concept of \"meta-modalities\" which encapsulate\r\nadditional
forms of feedback beyond the traditional preference and scalar\r\nfeedback mechanisms.
Unlike prior research that focused on individual\r\nmeta-modalities, this work
evaluates their combined effect on learning\r\noutcomes. Through a study with
human participants, we explore user preferences\r\nfor these modalities and their
impact on robot learning performance. Our\r\nfindings reveal that while individual
modalities are perceived differently,\r\ntheir combination significantly improves
learning behavior and usability. This\r\nresearch not only provides valuable insights
into the optimization of\r\nhuman-robot interactive task learning but also opens
new avenues for enhancing\r\nthe interactive freedom and scaffolding capabilities
    provided to users in such\r\nsettings."

text: Conductive ferroelectric domain walls (DWs) represent a promising topical
system for the development of nanoelectronic components and device sensors to
be operational at elevated temperatures. DWs show very different properties as
compared to their hosting bulk crystal, in particular with respect to the high
local electrical conductivity. The objective of this work is to demonstrate DW
conductivity up to temperatures as high as 400 °C which extends previous studies
significantly. Experimental investigation of the DW conductivity of charged, inclined
DWs is performed using 5 mol % MgO-doped lithium niobate single crystals. Current–voltage
( ) curves are determined by DC electrometer measurements and impedance spectroscopy
and found to be identical. Moreover, impedance spectroscopy enables to recognize
artifacts such as damaged electrodes. Temperature dependent measurements over
repeated heating cycles reveal two distinct thermal activation energies for a
given DW, with the higher of the activation energies only measured at higher temperatures.
Depending on the specific sample, the higher activation energy is found above
160 °C to 230 °C. This suggests, in turn, that more than one type of defect/polaron
is involved, and that the dominant transport mechanism changes with increasing
temperature. First principles atomistic modeling suggests that the conductivity
of inclined domain walls cannot be solely explained by the formation of a 2D carrier
gas and must be supported by hopping processes. This holds true even at temperatures
as high as 400 °C. Our investigations underline the potential to extend DW current
based nanoelectronic and sensor applications even into the so-far unexplored temperature
    range up to 400 °C.

  text:
Lithium niobate–tantalate mixed (LNT) crystals promise improved performance
and new applications for optical, piezomechanical, or electrical devices when
compared to the end composition compounds lithium niobate and lithium tantalate.
The macroscopic properties of ferroelectrics highly depend on the structure of
the underlying ferroelectric domains, which within mixed crystals can interact
with the local changes in chemical compositions. In this work, we demonstrate
how ferroelectric domain walls can unambiguously be identified and distinguished
from local changes in composition by correlating piezoresponse force microscopy
with second harmonic generation microscopy, using the Cherenkov contrast, reference
crystal contrast, and negative phase mismatching contrast. We demonstrate how
measuring the associated intensity change when approaching negative phase mismatching
can be used to deduce the local tantalum concentration fast and over a large sample
area. Based on these results, we study the natural domain structures that appear
from Czochralski-grown, multi-domain LNT solid solution crystals. The developed
results and methods serve as the central foundation to poling these mixed crystal
systems and are key for their integration and applications.

text: "The ability to generate explanations that are\r\nunderstood by explainees
is the quintessence\r\nof explainable artificial intelligence. Since un-\r\nderstanding
depends on the explainee’s back-\r\nground and needs, recent research focused
on\r\nco-constructive explanation dialogues, where\r\nan explainer continuously
monitors the ex-\r\nplainee’s understanding and adapts their expla-\r\nnations
dynamically. We investigate the ability\r\nof large language models (LLMs) to
engage as\r\nexplainers in co-constructive explanation dia-\r\nlogues. In particular,
we present a user study in\r\nwhich explainees interact with an LLM in two\r\nsettings,
one of which involves the LLM being\r\ninstructed to explain a topic co-constructively.\r\nWe
evaluate the explainees’ understanding be-\r\nfore and after the dialogue, as
well as their\r\nperception of the LLMs’ co-constructive behav-\r\nior. Our results
suggest that LLMs show some\r\nco-constructive behaviors, such as asking ver-\r\nification
questions, that foster the explainees’\r\nengagement and can improve understanding
of\r\na topic. However, their ability to effectively\r\nmonitor the current understanding
and scaffold\r\nthe explanations accordingly remains limited."

So versucht\r\ner

  text:
ABSTRACT
Emerging technologies pose many new
challenges for regulation and governance on a global scale. With the advent of
distributed communication networks like the Internet and decentralized ledger
technologies like blockchain, new platforms emerged, disrupting existing power
dynamics and bringing about new claims of sovereignty from the private sector.
This special issue addresses a gap in the literature by focusing the discourse
on the issue of trust and confidence
in the digital realm. In particular, looking at the evolution of the web (from
Web 1.0, to Web 2.0, and then Web 3), this article analyses how every iteration
reflects a different way of dealing with the problem of trust
online, resulting in a different regulation and governance landscape. Technology
is often regarded as a new lever of regulation, attempting to resolve the problem
of “trust” online, either through the introduction of a new trusted authority
(Web 2.0) or through the introduction of technological guarantees that provide
more assurance—or “confidence”—in the way interactions can be operationalized
(Web 3). Yet, each of these technologies also introduce new risks and governance
costs, ultimately shifting the problem of trust in a new direction rather than
resolving it or removing the need for trust altogether. The main contribution
of the articles in this special issue is providing a better understanding of the
trust challenges faced and posed by emerging technologies and demonstrating how
they affect institutional governance—in both theory and practice—with a view to
help policymakers find appropriate answers to these challenges.
