text: This article interrogates the tension between the way that the condemnation
of hate performatively establishes and reinforces discursive and affective boundaries
for public debates and the embrace of hate by anti-racist, abolitionist, feminist,
and queer activists, that is, their claim that hatred is a valid response to the
existential violence inflicted by borders or the police. The cases of activists
embracing hate indicate that the boundaries set by the condemnation of hate are
too limited to appropriately account for the violence of the status quo. The condemnation
of hate, rather, appears to veil this violence, that is, as a way to curb the
means to critique and overcome the status quo. The article offers a critical engagement
with studies on hate that pathologize the hateful subject, juxtaposing these studies
with cases of activists affirming their hatred for politicians, straight people,
or San Francisco tech workers. It thereby broadens understandings of hate by proposing
that hate as a response to harm can be part of anti-racist, abolitionist, feminist,
and queer struggles and provide valuable epistemic effects grounded in theory
rather than conspiracies. The article consequently challenges the condemnation
of hate by contesting that hate is necessarily illegitimate.

text: Hass im Netz ist nicht nur ein Problem, sondern ermöglicht es einer bürgerlichen
Position, hegemoniale Ansprüche zu bekräftigen und zu legitimieren. Der Text geht
somit dem nach, was im Gegensatz zum abzulehnenden Diskurs als ‚gut‘ gezeichnet
wird. In diesem Gegensatz steht die bürgerliche Welt des Etablierten/Status quo
als Ort, in dem der ‚gute‘ Diskurs bereits erfüllt ist. Sie dient sich somit als
Standard und Vorbild für die sozialen Medien an und kann dabei gesellschaftliche
Kräfte mobilisieren, indem sie sich als bedroht und schützenswert darstellt.

Dem schließen sich Datenschützer*innen an und gebieten einen bewussten und sparsamen
Umgang mit Diensten und Daten. Eine digitale Desökonomie widersetzt sich diesen
Warnungen und sucht den kritischen Umgang mit der digitalen Gegenwartskultur nicht
in der Askese, sondern im Exzess. Kunstwerke, Bilder und Daten sind »zu viel«,
türmen sich auf und wiederholen sich ständig. Mit Bezug auf Ansätze der Gouvernementalität,
der Queer Theory und auf Theorien von Georges Bataille und Roger Caillois analysiert
Sebastian Althoff diese unproduktive Produktionsweise des Digitalen und zeigt
eine Praxis auf, die Trägheit statt flow schafft.

die ganz unterschiedlichen Politiken Vorschub leisten: In Überlebensratgebern,
-sendungen und -filmen findet das Überleben fernab der Zivilisation statt, in
der Wildnis oder nach einer Katastrophe. Überleben bedeutet dabei die Fortsetzung
des nackten Lebens. In den Schriften Schwarzer, feministischer und queerer Autor*innen
findet das Überleben dagegen im Hier und Jetzt statt, ist eine Konsequenz staatlicher,
‚zivilisierter‘ Ordnung und beinhaltet mehr als das nackte Leben, beinhaltet etwa
Gemeinschaft und den Ausdruck von Identität. Der Artikel skizziert die unterschiedlichen
politischen Konsequenzen, die aus diesen Verständnissen erwachsen, die konservierend
und reproduktiv oder transformativ wirken können, die Dinge als existentiell oder
veräußerbar beschreiben, die den Status Quo erhalten oder Veränderungen einfordern
können. '
