In the present work we focus on the generation of pairs of photons with high degrees of polarization entanglement and simultaneously high indistinguishibility. We achieve this goal by selectively reducing the biexciton lifetime with an optical resonator. We demonstrate that a suitably tailored circular Bragg reflector fulfills the requirements of sufficient selective Purcell enhancement of biexciton emission paired with spectrally broad photon extraction and two-fold degenerate optical modes. Our in-depth theoretical study combines (i) the optimization of realistic photonic structures solving Maxwell's equations from which model parameters are extracted as input for (ii) microscopic simulations of quantum-dot cavity excitation dynamics with full access to photon properties. We report non-trivial dependencies on system parameters and use the predictive power of our combined theoretical approach to determine the optimal range of Purcell enhancement that maximizes indistinguishability and entanglement to near unity values in the telecom C-band at $1550\\,\\mathrm{nm}$.","lang":"eng"}],"related_material":{"record":[{"id":"48599","relation":"later_version","status":"public"}]},"project":[{"name":"PC2: Computing Resources Provided by the Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing","_id":"52"},{"_id":"173","grant_number":"231447078","name":"TRR 142 - C09: TRR 142 - Subproject C09"},{"name":"TRR 142 - B06: TRR 142 - Subproject B06","grant_number":"231447078","_id":"167"},{"grant_number":"231447078","_id":"53","name":"TRR 142: TRR 142"},{"_id":"55","name":"TRR 142 - B: TRR 142 - Project Area B"},{"_id":"56","name":"TRR 142 - C: TRR 142 - Project Area C"}],"citation":{"mla":"Bauch, David, et al. <i>On-Demand Indistinguishable and Entangled Photons at Telecom Frequencies Using Tailored Cavity Designs</i>. 2023.","ama":"Bauch D, Siebert D, Jöns K, Förstner J, Schumacher S. These environments, originally\r\nwith finite tasks, are expanded into innovative, endless formats, mirroring the\r\nescalating challenges of cumulative memory games such as ``I packed my bag''.\r\nThis progression in task design shifts the focus from merely assessing sample\r\nefficiency to also probing the levels of memory effectiveness in dynamic,\r\nprolonged scenarios. To address the gap in available memory-based Deep\r\nReinforcement Learning baselines, we introduce an implementation that\r\nintegrates Transformer-XL (TrXL) with Proximal Policy Optimization. This\r\napproach utilizes TrXL as a form of episodic memory, employing a sliding window\r\ntechnique. Our comparative study between the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) and\r\nTrXL reveals varied performances across different settings. TrXL, on the finite\r\nenvironments, demonstrates superior sample efficiency in Mystery Path and\r\noutperforms in Mortar Mayhem. However, GRU is more efficient on Searing\r\nSpotlights. Most notably, in all endless tasks, GRU makes a remarkable\r\nresurgence, consistently outperforming TrXL by significant margins. To access this\r\nparameter space in an efficient way and to discover energy cusps in unexplored\r\nregions, a method was recently established, which combines atomistic\r\nsimulations with statistical methods 10.1002/adts.202100615. This sequential\r\nsampling technique is now extended in the spirit of an active learning\r\nalgorithm by adding a criterion to decide when the sampling has advanced enough\r\nto stop. In this instance, two parameters to analyse the sampling results on\r\nthe fly are introduced: the number of cusps, which correspond to the most\r\ninteresting and important regions of the energy landscape, and the maximum\r\nchange of energy between two sequential iterations. Monitoring these two\r\nquantities provides valuable insight into how the subspaces are energetically\r\nstructured. K$\\phi$MP$\\phi$ST is one such pre-equilibrium model\r\nthat propagates the energy-momentum tensor by decomposing it into the\r\nbackground and fluctuations around that background, whose evolution is captured\r\nby Green's functions. They are designed to covalently bind the catalytically active amino acids through electrophilic groups called warheads. Covalent inhibition has an advantage in terms of pharmacodynamic properties but can also bear toxicity risks due to non-selective off-target protein binding. Therefore, the right combination of a reactive warhead with a well-suited peptidomimetic sequence is of great importance. Herein, the selectivities of well-known warheads combined with peptidomimetic sequences suited for five different proteases were investigated, highlighting the impact of both structure parts (warhead and peptidomimetic sequence) for affinity and selectivity. Molecular docking gave insights into the predicted binding modes of the inhibitors inside the binding pockets of the different enzymes. Moreover, the warheads were investigated by NMR and LC-MS reactivity assays against serine/threonine and cysteine nucleophile models, as well as by quantum mechanics simulations.
"}],"date_created":"2024-01-04T08:24:31Z","keyword":["Inorganic Chemistry","Organic Chemistry","Physical and Theoretical Chemistry","Computer Science Applications","Spectroscopy","Molecular Biology","General Medicine","Catalysis"],"type":"journal_article","author":[{"full_name":"Müller, Patrick","last_name":"Müller","first_name":"Patrick"},{"last_name":"Meta","first_name":"Mergim","full_name":"Meta, Mergim"},{"last_name":"Meidner","first_name":"Jan Laurenz","full_name":"Meidner, Jan Laurenz"},{"last_name":"Schwickert","first_name":"Marvin","full_name":"Schwickert, Marvin"},{"full_name":"Meyr, Jessica","first_name":"Jessica","last_name":"Meyr"},{"full_name":"Schwickert, Kevin","last_name":"Schwickert","first_name":"Kevin"},{"full_name":"Kersten, Christian","first_name":"Christian","last_name":"Kersten"},{"full_name":"Zimmer, Collin","first_name":"Collin","last_name":"Zimmer"},{"first_name":"Stefan Josef","last_name":"Hammerschmidt","full_name":"Hammerschmidt, Stefan Josef"},{"full_name":"Frey, Ariane","first_name":"Ariane","last_name":"Frey"},{"full_name":"Lahu, Albin","last_name":"Lahu","first_name":"Albin"},{"full_name":"de la Hoz-Rodríguez, Sergio","last_name":"de la Hoz-Rodríguez","first_name":"Sergio"},{"first_name":"Laura","last_name":"Agost-Beltrán","full_name":"Agost-Beltrán, Laura"},{"full_name":"Rodríguez, Santiago","first_name":"Santiago","last_name":"Rodríguez"},{"last_name":"Diemer","first_name":"Kira","full_name":"Diemer, Kira"},{"full_name":"Neumann, Wilhelm","first_name":"Wilhelm","last_name":"Neumann"},{"last_name":"Gonzàlez","first_name":"Florenci V.","full_name":"Gonzàlez, Florenci V."},{"full_name":"Engels, Bernd","last_name":"Engels","first_name":"Bernd"},{"last_name":"Schirmeister","first_name":"Tanja","full_name":"Schirmeister, Tanja"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1422-0067"]},"year":"2023","title":"Investigation of the Compatibility between Warheads and Peptidomimetic Sequences of Protease Inhibitors—A Comprehensive Reactivity and Selectivity Study","intvolume":" 24","date_updated":"2024-01-05T12:59:32Z","publication_status":"published","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"7226","doi":"10.3390/ijms24087226"},{"doi":"10.1111/jiec.13442","user_id":"67287","publisher":"Wiley","_id":"50368","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2024-01-09T09:26:25Z","publication_status":"published","status":"public","title":"Recalibration of limits to growth: An update of the World3 model","year":"2023","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1088-1980","1530-9290"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Nebel, Arjuna","last_name":"Nebel","first_name":"Arjuna"},{"full_name":"Kling, Alexander","first_name":"Alexander","last_name":"Kling"},{"last_name":"Willamowski","first_name":"Ruben","full_name":"Willamowski, Ruben"},{"full_name":"Schell, Tim","last_name":"Schell","first_name":"Tim"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["General Social Sciences","General Environmental Science"],"date_created":"2024-01-09T09:26:00Z","abstract":[{"text":"
Abstract
After 50 years, there is still an ongoing debate about the Limits to Growth (LtG) study. This paper recalibrates the 2005 World3‐03 model. The input parameters are changed to better match empirical data on world development. An iterative method is used to compute and optimize different parameter sets. This improved parameter set results in a World3 simulation that shows the same overshoot and collapse mode in the coming decade as the original business as usual scenario of the LtG standard run. The main effect of the recalibration update is to raise the peaks of most variables and move them a few years into the future. According to our calculations, RTP:F is expected to retain the so-called KTiOPO4 (KTP)-type structure, with lattice parameters of 13.236 Å, 6.616 Å, and 10.945 Å. Due to the doping with F, the crystal features eight extra electrons per unit cell, whereby each of these electrons is trapped by one of the surrounding Ti atoms in the cell. Notably, the ground state of the system corresponds to a ferromagnetic spin configuration (i.e., S=4). The deintercalation of Rb leads to the oxidation of the Ti atoms in the cell (i.e., from Ti3+ to Ti4+) and to reduced magnetic moments. The material promises interesting electrochemical properties for the cathode: rather high average voltages above 2.8 V and modest volume shrinkages below 13% even in the fully deintercalated case are predicted.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Crystals","issue":"1","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"170"},{"_id":"295"},{"_id":"790"},{"_id":"230"},{"_id":"429"},{"_id":"27"}],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2024-06-24T06:21:04Z"}]
