  abstract     = {{Eines der Lernziele des Physikstudiums stellt der Erwerb literaler Fähigkeiten für das Verfassen wissenschaftlicher Arbeiten dar. Die Student:innen werden allerdings im Rahmen ihres Studiums bisher kaum systematisch beim Erwerb dieser Fähigkeiten unterstützt. Eine Übungsgelegenheit für das Verfassen von Texten nach wissenschaftlichem Vorbild stellt das Laborpraktikum dar, in dem die Student:innen zu den absolvierten Experimenten Laborberichte verfassen. Im Paderborner Physik Praktikum 3P wurden in den letzten Jahren vier unterschiedliche Unterstützungsangebote für das Erlernen des wissenschaftlichen Schreibens entwickelt und mittels Zufriedenheitswerten evaluiert. In dem Beitrag werden die vier Angebote auf inhaltlicher Ebene hinsichtlich der Lernwirksamkeit mittels einer schriftproduktbasierten Evaluation analysiert. Durch die vergleichende Analyse können Potenziale und Grenzen der Angebote diskutiert und Implikationen für die Gestaltung von Unterstützungsangeboten zum Erlernen des wissenschaftlichen Schreibens in der Physik abgeleitet werden.}},

  abstract     = {{We prove various results in infinite-dimensional differential calculus that relate the differentiability properties of functions and associated operator-valued functions (e.g., differentials). The results are applied in two areas: (1) in the theory of infinite-dimensional vector bundles, to construct new bundles from given ones, such as dual bundles, topological tensor products, infinite direct sums, and completions (under suitable hypotheses); (2) in the theory of locally convex Poisson vector spaces, to prove continuity of the Poisson bracket and continuity of passage from a function to the associated Hamiltonian vector field. Topological properties of topological vector spaces are essential for the studies, which allow the hypocontinuity of bilinear mappings to be exploited. Notably, we encounter kR-spaces and locally convex spaces E such that E&times;E is a kR-space.}},

  abstract     = {{Modern services often comprise several components, such as chained virtual network functions, microservices, or
machine learning functions. Providing such services requires to decide how often to instantiate each component, where to place these instances in the network, how to chain them and route traffic through them. 
To overcome limitations of conventional, hardwired heuristics, deep reinforcement learning (DRL) approaches for self-learning network and service management have emerged recently. These model-free DRL approaches are more flexible but typically learn tabula rasa, i.e., disregard existing understanding of networks, services, and their coordination. 

Instead, we propose FutureCoord, a novel model-based AI approach that leverages existing understanding of networks and services for more efficient and effective coordination without time-intensive training. FutureCoord combines Monte Carlo Tree Search with a stochastic traffic model. This allows FutureCoord to estimate the impact of future incoming traffic and effectively optimize long-term effects, taking fluctuating demand and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements into account. Our extensive evaluation based on real-world network topologies, services, and traffic traces indicates that FutureCoord clearly outperforms state-of-the-art model-free and model-based approaches with up to 51% higher flow success ratios.}},

  abstract     = {{The paper investigates the impact of individual attention on investor risk-taking. We analyze a large sample of trading records from a brokerage service that allows its customers to trade contracts-for-differences (CFD), and sends standardized push messages on recent stock performance to its client investors. The advantage of this sample is that it allows us to isolate the "push" messages as individual attention triggers, which we can directly link to the same individuals' risk-taking. A particular advantage of CFD trading is that it allows investors to make use of leverage, which provides us a pure measure of investors' willingness to take risks that is independent of the decision to purchase a particular stock. Leverage is a major catalyst of speculative trading, as it increases the scope of extreme returns, and enables investors to take larger positions than what they can afford with their own capital. We show that investors execute attention-driven trades with higher leverage, compared to their other trades, as well as those of other investors who are not alerted by attention triggers.}},

  abstract     = {{Tire and road wear are a major source of emissions of nonexhaust particulate matter (PM) and make up the largest share of microplastics in the environment. To reduce tire wear through numerical optimization of a vehicle's suspension system, fast simulations of the representative usage of a vehicle are needed. Therefore, this contribution evaluates if instead of a full simulation of a representative test drive, only specific driving maneuvers resulting from a clustering of the driving data can be used to predict tire wear. As a measure for tire wear, the friction work between tire and road is calculated. It is shown that enough clusters result in negligible deviations between the total friction work of the full simulation and the cluster simulations as well as between the distributions of the friction work over the tire width. The calculation time can be reduced to about 1% of the full simulation.}},

  abstract     = {{<ns3:p>Research that investigates respective researchers’ engagement in Open Science varies widely in the topics addressed, methods employed, and disciplines investigated, which makes it difficult to integrate and compare its results. To investigate current outcomes of Open Science research, and to get a better understanding on well-researched topics and research gaps, we aimed at providing an openly accessible overview of empirical studies that focus on different aspects of Open Science in different scientific disciplines, academic groups and geographical regions. In this paper, we describe a data set of studies about Open Science practices retrieved following a PRISMA approach to compile a literature review. We included studies from the Scopus and Web of Science databases with keywords relating to Open Science between the years 2000 and 2020, as well as a snowball search for relevant articles. Studies that did not investigate any aspect of Open Science, or weren’t peer-reviewed were excluded, resulting in a total of 695 remaining studies.<ns3:italic> </ns3:italic>The data set was collaboratively annotated to ensure intercoder reliability of the coded data.</ns3:p>}},

After a short introduction including historical development, the first focus is on theoretical background of the operating principle, design and mechanical modeling. As piezoelectric elements transform electrical to mechanical energy and vice versa, equivalent circuit modeling is also described. After that, sample applications are delineated by the matter wherein ultrasound generates unique effects: incredible high pressure level as well in air as in water, micro-bubbles generating temperature peaks for very short time instances in fluids, acoustoplastic effect, enhancement of diffusion and recrystallization in solids, friction manipulation, incremental deformation and micro-cracking of surfaces, or even generation of macroscopic movements in motors. At the end, some future directions ranging from novel modeling approaches to advanced control and new materials are addressed.}},

  abstract     = {{Die thermisch verursachte, plastische Verformung an statischen Druckplatten von Lamellenbremsen kann das Betriebsverhalten von Bremsen nachhaltig stören und sollte daher vermieden werden. So kann die plastische Verformung der Druckplatte beispielsweise zu einer Verkleinerung des Luftspalts führen und ungewollte Veränderung der Reibverhältnisse verursachen. Während des Bremsvorgangs dehnen sich hoch erwärmte Bereiche nah der Reibfläche aus und werden von den Zonen geringerer Temperatur an ihrer Ausdehnung gehindert. Überschreiten die daraus resultierenden Spannungen die Dehngrenze des Materials, kommt es zu plastischer Verformung. Dieser Artikel erläutert den physikalischen Verformungsprozess detailliert und darauf aufbauend, welche Maßnahmen zu einer Verringerung der Verformung ergriffen werden können. Dazu werden im Rahmen theoretischer Vorüberlegungen drei Ansätze identifiziert, die sowohl die Geometrie als auch die Werkstoffe der Druckplatten betreffen. Radiale Schlitze sollen die Behinderung der thermischen Dehnung verhindern und dadurch Spannungen reduzieren; die Werkstoffauswahl auf Basis der Thermoschockempfindlichkeit reduziert die plastische Verformung. Anhand einer kombinierten Simulation der Thermik und der Mechanik einer Druckplatte wird der Effekt dieser Ansätze an vier Varianten der Druckplatte überprüft. Experimentelle Untersuchungen an realen Prototypen der Druckplattenvarianten bestätigen die Ergebnisse der Simulation und weisen die Wirksamkeit der vorgeschlagenen Maßnahmen zur Reduzierung der plastischen Verformung nach.}},
